The first time it happened, Chan didn't really have the chance to think about it, since he ended up in the Chaos portal the next morning. But now that it happened again in Monstandt, he couldn't help but notice that the only constant that repeated in WooPil's reaction was the presence of an unknown man: Hoseok. Chan can't yet figure out who that is, but he is now certain that WooPil is scared to death of him.

After running away from the Good Hunter, WooPil even turns tiny again and ends up stuck in that size, due to being too scared to control his power — that he has learnt to use, but not perfectly yet.
That also forced Snek to have to cling to Chan, as he was suddenly in the outer world and couldn't consider to walk by himself!!!
Snek even tried multiple times to hide under Chan's shirt, but the other wouldn't allow it.

Chan decides to leave Mondstadt right away, both because he already had in mind to visit Liyue after talking to Lisa and because he wants WooPil to be away from Hoseok.
He places tiny WooPil in the pocket of his shirt and leaves the city on foot, following a map he bought, to reach Liyue harbour as timely as possible.
He walks without resting for the whole night and in about 1 day, they reach the Wangshu Inn, where Chan rents a room for them.

After spending some time looking for WooPil and asking around, he finally manages to find his boyfriend… on one of the windmills.
He climbs up the wooden ladders to reach the spot where he is all curler up, in the sunniest side, crying.
Chan sits down next to him and wraps his arm around WooPil, who gets startled by the move, before realising who it is.
«Let us cry together, shall we?» he says in a very soft and soothing tone. «If it's worth your tears, then I want to cry too…»
WooPil keeps sobbing, not even managing to force himself to stop, as he would usually do.
Chan decides to just stay with him in that same position, until the other will feel comforted enough.
«The nuns said that we can finally leave the cathedral. We can move to a nice room in an inn, all yours. Shall we go to take a look?»
«I… m… must… be in the sun… can't go away from the sun…» sobs WooPil.
«All right then. We will be in the sun till it sets. We will find a room at that point.» He kisses his boyfriend's head while starting to gently caress his hair.

They don't leave the windmill for several hours, in truth. Only when WooPil feels ready, when the sun is indeed setting, they get back to the street to find some food and a room for the night.
They stop by the Good Hunter, where Chan decides to cook something specifically made for WooPil, while his boyfriend is sat by the closest table. Chan can't not notice how upset and terrified WooPil is, he even keeps looking around, being on guard. He knows that something, or someone, must have made him like that. He wasn't that way before.

After leaving Diluc's tavern, they return to the cathedral, where they are still staying, since the Sisters want to keep monitoring WooPil's health a little longer. Chan is quite eager to move to an inn, since he is like Dain when it comes of religions and churches.

He and his boyfriend go to sleep regularly, Chan is particularly exhausted since he trains every single second without giving himself a break. He really wants to improve his body and power in any way he can, all to achieve his ultimate goal of being able to protect WooPil. It's currently his obsession, he would do anything to achieve it.

Being he a determined d*ckhead, he follows his own plan to get stronger and more powerful.
During their time at the hospital of the cathedral, they received some visits from the Knights of Favonius who came to find out who they are and all the typical things.
That's how Chan himself got the chance to ask some questions about the world, Teyvat, and their own knowledge concerning magic.

He has some basic knowledge that came from the magic school in the wizarding world, but he feels that with that, he can't go far. The whole system is based on the number of spells you can memorize, rather than power itself. Chan isn't looking into becoming the new greatest Charm Professor, he wants to become extremely powerful, even more than the ancient ones and he knows that nothing Earth has to offer could give him that.

He goes back to the suite in New York, where he finds a literal dump of McDonald's boxes and endless toys. He is not surprised to find that situation.
Chan sends the kids to pack their things and approaches WooPil, to tell him the news.
They stand in front of each others, near the couch. «I have something to tell you, babe…»
WooPil's already wet and red eyes move up to cross his, showing a certain worry already.
Chan stares in his eyes for some moments, like stunned. He simply doesn't manage to speak any word while looking at him like that.

«Did something happen…?» asks WooPil after some time, forcing Chan to snap out of that stunned state.
«I… wait a second…» He runs to his own backpack and takes something that he actually had prepared a long time before. It's something he intended to do during the holiday in New York, but everything got on his way.
He returns to WooPil and takes his hand, while holding something behind his back in the other hand.
«Lee WooPil… will you… marry me?» Chan moves his other hand and opens it, showing two rings.
WooPil's eyes widen so much at the news, like in shock.
«I know that it's not the most romantic proposal ever… I wanted to do better… but it came this way now…»
WooPil jumps in his arms. «I want to!»

When everything is packed, he opens the portal to lead WooPil and the children to the safe location where they are going to stay at.
He helps them all to settle in their rooms then intends to go to speak to Zhao about his change of mind right away, feeling that it was the right thing to do, for WooPil's sake.
