Some time after leaving the Jade Chamber, Chongyun and Xingqiu come there to see WooPil and stay for dinner. It may not be a party, but still a more or less pleasant experience. If it wasn't that WooPil knows that Chan and Hudie argued once again and is depressed because of it.

Chan doesn't return to the Jade Chamber for the whole night. He appears back only in the morning, when they arranged to leave for Sumeru.
He just takes his backpack and waits for the rest to join for the journey. He is now wearing a bright red band around his forearm. Xie's stuff. He looks gloomy and somewhat emotionless.

After the meal with Ayato, they head back to the Jade Chamber. Chan goes ahead, while WooPil stops by the temple at Yujin terrace to give his offering to Rex Lapis — another box of quality jade.
When WooPil returns, he is very upset and sad, and it takes Chan a while to be told what happened in that short time from when they parted ways.

After being told, he hands WooPil his own phone, so he can watch Gongsam to try to relax and cheer up, and heads back out of the Jade Chamber again.
His first stop is the temple, but he doesn't find what he is looking for, so he proceeds with his potentially hopeless search. Everyone knows he is a vengeful d*ckhead anyway. He is walking down the stairs of the entrance of Yujin terrace.

In the morning, one of the Millelith at the Jade Chamber goes to call him, saying that there is someone there for them.
Confused and curious, he goes to check and finds himself in front of Skylar. He recognizes him as one of the guests from the previous evening, but he didn't pay much attention to him.
«Hi? They said you wanted to see me?» asks Chan, raising an eyebrow.
«Actually… I have come to apologise to WooPil, as I heard that he is the one who organised the party and put a great deal of effort in that.»
«Apologise for what?»
«For leaving like that and never returning.»
«Well… WooPil isn't here right now, you'll have to come another time or be content that I bring your apologises to him.»
Skylar looks caught off guard by the response. «Where did he go, if I may…?»
«To glide with his new friends. He really makes a new friend every day, these days. Where did you meet him?»
«Gliding? He is into that? Actually… we never met before yesterday. I just accompanied Lord Tiao here.»
«I don't think WooPil knows what gliding is.» Chan makes a slight smile.
«And you let him go, nonetheless?»
He shrugs. «Why not? It's not like they are going to force him to do that. If he doesn't like what it's about, he will just watch the others do. Besides, Razor went with him and said he'd watch after him. The only thing more reliable than that boy's word would be a contract with Rex Lapis.»
«I see…» Skylar bites his lip. He is hiding something behind his back, a book.

The next morning, he and WooPil head to Qingce village to look for what ZhongLi asked for. He can't say he is excited by the task, but he accepted the contract and now he has to gather those shoots.

When they reach the village, they decide to ask someone where to find the bamboo and they casually come across granny Ruoxing and the Traveler.
They end up overhearing their conversation and Chan gets definitely intrigued.

During that strange night at the temple, something truly happened to Chan and WooPil, but neither of them know: both have entirely forgotten about their relationship. The love and affection they felt as partners, converted into a strong brotherly bond, that makes them feel as if they were biological brothers.
Their memories remained unchanged, except for their relationship. To their mind, they have always and only been friends. They no longer feel any attraction nor romantic feeling towards each others. But that doesn't make them any less obsessive towards each others. Nor it makes Chan less protective and cantankerous about WooPil.
Those who know them will certainly notice their sudden change, but convincing them that they were lovers will be practically impossible as their memories on the matter were modified.

ZhongLi might have noticed something off during the night, as Chan's dreams were indeed visited by his grandfather Xie.

After they eat something, they get back on the road. WooPil back in Chan's pocket, but not hiding anymore, since ZhongLi, and by now also Xiao, saw him.

After a long and tiring journey, they reach Wangshu inn.
There is the usual crowd of people all around the inn, even near Verr Goldet's counter, so they have to wait for a while before their turn to ask for rooms.
Chan exchanges a few glances with a hot girl during the whole time.
When they are finally in front of the wife of the innkeeper, she is quite confused to see ZhongLi back and Xiao with him.

After talking to Verr, she tells them that there is only one possible room and it happens to be the one Teyvat Xiao usually inhabits.
Not having other options, they accept that room and head there. Luckily other Xiao isn't there in that moment.

Chan leaves his backpack on the floor and goes to the bathroom to sort a tiny bath for WooPil to wash safely. He leaves him there and returns to the bedroom, intending to exchange a few words with ZhongLi, especially now that Xiao went to the balcony.
