Lyrics to Plots

Okay, so I tend to come up with plot ideas as I listen to music so I decided it would be a good idea (now, is it actually a good idea? I honestly don’t know) to write down the ideas as well as the lyrics/songs that sparked them even though the story on the original song might be completely different! I sincerely hope this made sense…

Alright, here we go.

1. Savatage - Edge Of Thorns

“I have seen you on the edge of dawn
Felt you there before you were born
Balanced your dreams upon the edge of thorns
But I don't think about you anymore”

Tags: Fantasy/High Fantasy, Flexible timeline, Romance optional

Now this is a love song, but what it made me think of is this ancient race of godlike creatures who are at war with another race. These creatures possess powers beyond our understanding. What if they just had the ability to know when this very specific individual would be born and how this individual would help them in their never ending war against this other race, even though the said individual has no idea how on earth they would be able to do that? Just a ‘what if.’

2. Manowar - Shell Shock

“But if they tell you that I've lost my mind
Maybe it's not gone just a little hard to find
About the time this letter gets home
I'll be gone, gone, yeah gone
And if they tell you that I'm M.I.A.
Think a little less about me each day
'Cause if I ever get back
I'll be shell shocked”

Ex soldier/mercenary suffering from PTSD tries to relearn how to be a functioning member of everyday society with the help of a friend, ex colleague, psychiatrist, family member, or anything really. This is a very broad and open plot idea with much room for brainstorming.

3. Gary Moore - Over The Hills And Far Away

“Each night within his prison cell
He looks out through the bars
He reads the letters that she wrote
One day, he'll know the taste of freedom”

Tags: Flexible timeline, Crime, Romance optional

This will unfold through the letters between someone in prison and someone writing to them. Their relationship could be anything really, there is no limit to what we can come up with, but the main idea is that not a single descriptive word will be exchanged between our responses since it will just be the letters sent towards each other themselves. Smart, I know, I know.

4. Grim Reaper - See You In Hell

“Can I make you an offer? You can't refuse
I kept my eyes on you 'cause I tell you that you lose
And you can come with me to a place you'll know so well
And I will take you to the very gates of Hell
See you in Hell my friend”

Pretty self explanatory, I believe. This plot would be about a demon offering a pact to a human. This could go so many different ways I can’t even begin to list them. It could be as simple as a greedy human falling for an all too basic demon trap, then trying to save their soul, or it could be us rewriting the whole history of Christianity. It’s all up to you.

5. Manowar - Gates Of Valhalla

“Behold the kingdom of the kings
Books of spells and magic rings
Endless knowledge, endless time
I scream the final battle cry”

Tags: Fantasy, Medieval, Action, Mystery, Romance optional

Sword and Sorcery, right? A quest based on greed for unlimited power and knowledge. A journey through lands unknown with beasts never before seen by man. This would be more like an old school D&D adventure so whoever knows, knows.

6. Kamelot - The Haunting (Somewhere In Time)

“When memories linger on and on
What made me think you were her
Helena is dead to all, dead to all
Nothing can bring her to life
Don't pretend that I'll be loving you
Once I believed she was gone
I corrupted from within”

When the noble’s beloved other half passed away, they turned to the Dark Art for comfort, to try and bring their soulmate back. But this is a dangerous hobby they have taken on and now they are stuck with their fowl creation that barely resembles the love of their life, but it is them so what other option do they have other than to love ‘it’? Is said creation good or evil? Do they wish harm or good upon their creator? Are they angry they were brought back or happy? I guess we will find out together.

7. Manilla Road - Necropolis

“Darkened city veiled in crimson mist
Entombed in time without decay
Never thought it would be like this
It feels like I'm living inside a dream
But my mind tells me I'm
Lost in Necropolis, lost in Necropolis
Now I know what it's like to be
Inside the city of the dead
All I think of is breaking free
From all the spells chained to my head
Sword and axe are my destiny
I watch the stars turning blood red”

And since we are still on the topic of necromancers, what would your character do if they found themselves trapped into an undead city? How would they try to get out? Would they survive? But most importantly, who did they upset to be sent there in the first place, and how? Another sort of D&D adventure, if you’re into that.

8. Dio - Don't Talk To Strangers

“Don't talk to strangers
'Cause they're only there to do you harm
Don't write in starlight
'Cause the words may come out real
Don't hide in doorways
You may find the key that opens up your soul
Don't go to heaven
'Cause it's really only hell
Don't smell the flowers
They're an evil drug to make you lose your mind
Don't dream of women
'Cause they’ll only bring you down
Hey you, you know me, you've touched me, I'm real
I'm forever the one that lets you look and see
And feel me
I'm danger
I'm the stranger
And I, I'm darkness, I'm anger, I'm pain
I am master
The evil song you sing inside your brain
Drive you insane
Don't talk”

A witch has put a spell on someone who had been originally brought to her in need of healing. Why? I have no idea, we should figure it out. The thing is now she has this hold on them, she is their whole world, they do whatever she pleases without doubting her, but even when they do doubt her, she finds ways to convince them that everyone else around them wants to harm them. Would this poor soul ever be able to get out of this nightmare?

PS: I use “her” when referring to the witch, but that role could be taken on by any gender, honestly.

9. Accept - Teutonic Terror

“Back to the front lines, back to the night
Evil marauders, under the lights
Back for the plunder, the thrill of the flames
The roar of the thunder, back in the game
Storming the castles, swords in the air
Killing the monsters in their own lair

Tags: Action, Medieval, Romance optional

What if someone very important like the heir to the throne had been taken by these said evil marauders? What would their family do to bring them back, if anything? And if they had the option to go back, would they want to actually go through with it? Or maybe they have decided the marauder life is the life for them.

10. Megadeth - Holy Wars...The Punishment Due

“Some people risk to employ me
Some people live to destroy me
Either way they die. They die
They killed my wife and my baby,
With hopes to enslave me
First mistake... last mistake”

Tags: Modern setting, Action, Crime, Psychological, Romance optional

Revenge. An assassin who has messed with the wrong kind of people, resulting in their family’s life being cut short way too early. Will the skilled assassin be able to avenge their loved ones? Will someone else help them? Will somebody dare stand in their way?

11. Candlemass - A Sorcerer's Pledge

“Time stands still in these ancient halls
Only the castle itself can tell what it keeps
Dark are the secrets between these walls
Hidden in shadows of death, while the sorcerer sleeps
Where is the morning
Where is the sun
Thousand years of midnight
The sunrise is gone
An old man marked by a life so long
Is sleeping so sweet while his magic is growing so strong
Waiting still for new times to come
A thousands years to see if he has won”

Tags: Fantasy, Medieval, Action, Romance optional

An old curse waiting to take hold of its target. But someone just had to step in and ruin everything. A reckless adventurer, too greedy and curious for their own good. What could it be they seek in these ancient rooms? Knowledge? Power? Revenge? And how will the powerful sorcerer react to this unexpected interruption?

Terms and Conditions

This is a little FYI with possible changes to come in the future but hopefully it will do for now. So without further ado, let’s get done with the formalities.

1. I don’t do one-liners. I am a person who enjoys depth and detail when it comes to storytelling (because honestly that’s what it is) so I’d be honored if you were to meet my expectations at least half way. That means no less than 3 paragraphs per response and no more than infinite. Moving on…

2. I write in third person because it feels more natural to me. I have tried first person and, though I don’t enjoy it as much, I could do it again with the right roleplay partner (I suppose).

3. That being said, I am very open to new ideas and concepts so please feel free to recommend things, even if they are taboo or frowned upon, or maybe even if I seem to be skeptical about them at first (ex. #2).

4. I don’t care about your age, gender or sexuality as long as you’re not a minor who wants to get spicy, because that is a no-no for obvious reasons. With that out of the way, my characters’ sexualities will be whatever they need to be so they can be used in our rp. Also, though my characters tend to be male, I am open to playing any gender if the plot is interesting enough for me.

5. Communication is the key to this partnership so speak up. If you like something and want more of it, say it. If you hate something and can’t stand it, say it. If we started something but want to change things, say it. Thank you in advance.

6. Patience is also important especially in my case because I do usually take some time to respond due to real life responsibilities, but this also depends on the length of the response our roleplay requires. So, just a heads up, I’m not ghosting you.

7. On another note, if there has been no sign of life from you for weeks and weeks (unless of course I have been informed about your long absence through either a message or a post) I will be deleting you. In case you want to give this another try you are more than welcome to add me back and we might try something new.

If you’ve made it this far let me know by telling me the cheesiest pick up line you can think of.

Oh, and if discord is more comfortable for you either for plotting or for the roleplay itself, make sure to tell me so we can head that way.
