au-oriented stygian from mlp:fim
examples of verses below, wip profile. i write in lowercase ooc to alleviate stress, during the roleplay i capitalize everything properly.
who is stygian? the pony of shadows, a one time antagonist from s5 finale "shadow play". he lived in a seaside village which was attacked by the sirens and he set out to gather the legendary heroes (the pillars of equestria) to save his home. never getting the recognition he believed he deserved stygian tried to perform a ritual using artifacts he stole from each of the pillars, but his plan was discovered and cut short. stygian was banished without a chance to explain only to return as a threat that the pillars could not defeat and instead trapped him in limbo sacrificing their own freedom in the process.
i can write other characters, but only canons (and i really want to write the dull gray unicorn above anyone else), proper list to be added, for now look at the very bottom of this section. rules are yet to be made as well.
don't give one-liners, don't invite if you don't wanna roleplay and don't be a jerk would be the gist of it. i don't mind shipping with ocs but i don't write ocs myself so i don't double.

note on aus/crossovers:
i don't plan on making him human. a human form is fine, but he remains a unicorn beneath it so either a mythological creature or the next closest thin that fits in with the setting.
(mostly) canon verse;
stygian has been freed from limbo and redeemed as per canon. while trying to fit in with the modern equestria he discovers he still has a strong affinity for shadow magic.
prince of shadows;
my main verse and au in which the entity banished to limbo was not the pony of shadows but merely stygian's feelings of anger and betrayal given form. stygian IS the pony of shadows, but who said no good can come from magic that is evil in nature? most likely everyone, but stygian is determined to prove them wrong and with the princess of friendship believing in him, the newly transformed alicorn is regarded with a very careful politeness.
i don't know much about g5, but i'd be happy to experiment with him somehow making it into the future and maybe believing that magic should in fact remain hidden and using the shadows to try and make that happen.
mirror stygian;
alternate version of stygian featured in the "legends of magic" comic. unlike canon stygian, this one succeeded in wiping out the pillars and taking over equestra, but starswirl managed to save the princesses and trap stygian in the world he destroyed. if freed he would be a lethal threat to all of equestria. with the power to corrupt living beings he would go after the princesses (or anyone powerful really), trying to put them under his control.

hcs:
cutie mark; under normal circumstances his cutie mark would be something related to writing, but he was still a blank flank when the darkness corrupted him. the current cutie mark, the shadowy flame serves both as a reminder of power he was so desperate to posses and as a sign of potential in that particular area of magic.
voice; i genuinely don't remember who voices stygian, but if it isn't jeremy jordan i don't need to know.
