The World under the Surface

mlox replied to Selezen's topic

I feel as though this could be a very fun idea. I imagine it almost like being transported into a video game with no escape. I'm already imagining scaled and venomous beasts.

Of Ink and Dreams 1x1

mlox replied to mlox's topic

We’re all familiar with the soulmate stories, but what if they were true…?

Before I get into my ideas here are a few things to note before approaching me! I write OC female main characters only (side characters will vary in gender and orientation) and will do both FxM and FxF but will not promise a romance (even in a soulmate story? If our characters don’t click, they don’t click! But maybe this is meant to be a friendship anyways…) I write multi para and expect that in return, third person too. I have more rules on my profile (please read before adding) but I wanted to share the above with you before you invest in these ideas. SOME ALSO MAY BE OF MATURE AND TRIGGERING TOPICS. Please keep in mind I will RP 18+ stories including mental and gorish scenes.

: : : : : Not Everyone : : : : :

Soulmates are rare, and it is speculation over whether the bond is actually a soulmate or something else – a spiritual connection meant to be nothing more than friendship, a specific person who is meant to save you once but never to see you again, a flirtation with what could be, but no promise given. Even rarer is someone having two soulmates, more often it is a mistake in translation, the cues the same but meant to be for someone else. The worst kind of love to break. Soulmates can be marked in many ways. By pin pricks, flowers, words, dreams. So one knows what the differences are, just that it’s a part of life. Just as some are more fortunate than others, luck cannot be on everyone’s side.

1 –
Character A is afflicted with ink. They don’t know what the ink means, it doesn’t appear in words on their skin, at least nothing sensical, and there is no rhyme or reason to the designs. The only thing they have found is that the designs are easy to hide. They aren’t sure whether to be grateful or fearful of this.

– ideas for character A: domestic or self abuse, artist drawing/tattooing on their own skin, (I do have a preference for Character A but if you think you can do the idea justice I am willing to swap! I only say this because Character A is not a weak, small willed character despite their circumstances, and I do not want that to be confused!)

– ideas for meeting:
a) Character B has been in a few rough spots because of these inkings, bullied or what not because they are the only one with these inkings, and harbors ill feelings towards Character A because of this, until they realize Character A’s situation and it turns around. They can meet on accident by bumping into each other, or being in the same room, or wrong place right time. In any case, Character B takes it upon themselves to show Character A the beauty of the world, to give them a chance to escape.

b) A fantasy idea is that Character A is wealthy and Character B works for one of the wealthy families, with a strong dislike of them. With any of the same ideas as above, once Character B finds out A is their soulmate, they attribute it to the fact that Character A gets poked and prodded a lot which is why Character B feels no sympathy at first, but learns better after.

c) Another idea for these scenarios is Character C. Characters A and B are in a relationship, they are soul mates, their skin inked from the other's pain, but what causes them pain is themselves. Whether the relationship is toxic or just not right, it’s an example of soulmates not really meaning a romantic pair. Perhaps they were meant for something different, something more, but that’s been destroyed. Character C, however, might be the savior (either for A or B, getting the one out of the toxic relation or just getting one to a happier place). In any case it’s up to Character C to show the other Character the beauty in the world again, and to prove that the soulmate gambit is a sham.

2 -
Once upon a dream. Character B has never remembered their dreams. They were always too fuzzy, or nothing at all. This wasn’t too much of a worry, not dreaming wasn’t terribly uncommon as it was inconvenient. Character A, however, had a better recollection of their dreams. And one common characteristic with a good many of them is Character B.

a) strangers, they end up in the same place for the first time. At first, they are caught off guard by how familiar the other looks. But then Character A realizes why they look so familiar, they remember them from their dreams and it’s like they’ve always known them. Character B, however, has no idea who Character A is, just has a faint recollection that they’ve met before. Perhaps eventually character B will start to remember, perhaps the block on their dreams will fall away and they can see. But until then, Character A doesn’t want to make a big deal out of something that might be nothing.

b) The dreams didn’t start until after they met each other. And when they did start, it was as if Character B was living two separate lives. Character A learned all about them in their sleep as they went on adventures, but at first, when they asked Character B about their dreams the next day, B had no clue what A was talking about.

Those are my ideas. I will also add that I absolutely adore fantasy so if we can work these into a fantasy setting with a grand adventure, I would be incredibly grateful. Realistic I am a bit rough on the edges with, I tend to lose interest a little too quickly, but having the added fictional element will definitely help!

If you are interested in any of the above, please check out my rules, add, and message me with your ideas!

Something Witchy

mlox replied to mlox's topic

So I’ve been wanting to do a witchy little story, and I’ve got a girl lined up for it. Her name is Maya Raswuan and you can find her character sheet here:
www.roleplay.me/blog/216459

My character sheets are always rough and never set in stone, so things may change through the story and she might be a little different with each story she’s in. I just have her basics in mind and think she could be fun! She’s a Reaper Witch, so she can see/communicate with the dead, which comes with its own benefits. I’m thinking witches are separated into powers/clans, so there’s Reapers, brewers, enchanters, healers, etc and they all have different unique aspects that I haven’t thought through. We don’t have to go into depth with it, but knowing our own characters would be helpful!

I don’t have a specific plot in mind, but I’ll write down some ideas. I also have been imagining this as Soul-Eater-esque for any who’ve watched the anima/read the manga (especially with her being a Reaper) so if you want to go down that path, I’m totally open to it.

1. Our characters go to Witch Academy (think Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) to learn about their magics. Some witches live in the academy, some live from home, some split life between the human world and the witch world. This can be modern, or fantasy. Humans and witches can have good relationships or bad ones, or perhaps they don’t even know the other exists.
a) They can all be witches, or it can be the witch/warlock divide, but they all do the same things, alright?
b) I’d be up to doing this as a witch x human
c) this could also be a fun enemy to lovers! Perhaps our characters just don’t get along in school, and are either put together on a project (maybe a scavenger hunt of sorts) or put against each other in some sort of trials.

2. Your character is a ghost, malevolent or benevolent, in any case, they haven’t been able to cross over to the afterlife for some reason, and it’s up to Maya to help them. This brings them on an adventure, and perhaps to find out how/why they died. Perhaps Y/C was killed, maybe they remember, maybe they don’t, or the memories come slowly.
a) this would be more of an adventure with a string of events and include many different characters rather than steady secondary characters, be prepared to write for multiple different types of characters as we meet them.
b) this could be fun as a modern travel across the world, or as a fantasy where there are different creatures with totally different abilities

3. Witches and warlock clans all have their own jobs in the world. For Maya, it’s Reapings. They find souls and bring them to their afterlife. But sometimes, this requires the help of other clans and vice versa.
a) their clans are rival clans, but our characters need each other's help
b) your character is a reaper, and they end up searching for the same escaped soul, a very important one that the Academy wants back
c) your character (being a psychic) accidentally parted their soul from their body, but Maya is the only one they know that can see them and help put them back.
-----> Y/C may have been a wandering soul for years, trying to find someone to help them back to their body and with reaper witches being rare, stumble across Maya
d) our characters are best friends, but your character doesn’t know Maya is a witch, not until something happens to Y/C (maybe Y/C dies, or another witch curses them, or parts their soul from body as a curse or something of the sorts) and Maya finds out and has to help, ultimately revealing her identity

So, all ideas are not thought through in the least. They’re just ideas. I match lengths but I prefer 3+ paras, third person, and progression of the plot with each post. I also like to plot OOC. FxM or FxF.

Back in Town

mlox replied to mlox's topic

Before you read, take a listen to the song Back in Town by Matt Dusk, in which this plot is inspired.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=TuRub5zaHZs
Or don't, doesn't matter, but it helps set the vibe. Also, his voice is beautiful?

I don't have a specific plot, per se, I just have a general outline and I can offer a couple ideas, or you can come with your own! I do ask that you do have your own ideas, too, so that we can both contribute to the plot. There have been way too many times when I've built the entire plot only to have it fall through because of how one sided it was.

Outline:
My character (MC) and your character (YC) had dated years ago, until a messy break up involving YC leaving, looking for a better life. Fast forward a couple years, and YC comes back, expecting to reinsert themselves in MC's life again, as if nothing had happened. Or mabye even back to try and convince MC to come back and join YC.
1. they dated in high school, but then college came. They planned on going to the same college, but YC decided to pursue something different, promising to return. They go years without seeing each other... but the promise is kept.
2. they met in college, going as far as moving in with each other, when one day, YC gets a perfect opportunity. MC is supportive, but obviously doesn't want to move so far away (or change colleges for YC). YC leaves, and go their separate ways, living lives until YC reinserts into MC's life.

Ideas:
A) MC is in a relationship when YC returns and has to fight for MC. The relationship can be a bit toxic, to help add to plot, or just not really enough for MC, making MC consider YC again.
B) A TWIST: same plot as above, but YC is the character that MC is in a relationship with when this random person from her past shows up into her life, trying to get her back. Will YC trust in MC's love, or will jealousy play too big of a factor.
C) I don't like this idea, but don't have the energy to fix the lettering order.
D) YC comes back in MC's life, expecting to take her away, only to find that she is perfectly fine on her own, thriving, actually, with nothing for YC to offer, but that doesn't stop YC. It could be fun to combine this with idea B, too.
E) whatever you can come up with! Even if it has nothing to do with this plot or forum, I'd love to write anything with you! Be it romance, fantasy, medieval, sci-fi, crime. If you can even twist this plot to fit any other genre, you might just be my favorite.

That's all I've got for now.
I am open to MxF or FxF, just have an interesting character, please.
I am all over the place with length, from 1 para to 4 or 6. With heavy dialogue, I will not stretch myself to write several pages, but in scenes where there isn't action or talking, I can put on the layers. I don't want to go by a 'standard' length, I will write what the scene requires.
I will NOT set up the whole plot. I have given you this much, I expect you to come with some additions of your own, surpsie me even. But I want to make sure this is enjoyable for both of us.
I'm alright with m*tu*e themes, 1*8+.
This list is longer than I want it to be, but here we are anyways.
If you are interested, YOU add and YOU message me. Show some courage.
I think that's it, or at least all I can think of right now. I really just want to write a good story.
