On Melancholy Hill

On Melancholy Hill

That’s where they met. A secret kept between the two. It was the only thing they could have together. Meeting was forbidden, but they needed to. So they did, ever since they were young. They had grown fonder and closer, meeting at dusk every third day, spending the last hours of light together, fantasizing, dreaming, talking, playing. The time grew shorter over the years, but they never missed a day, like clockwork. Time didn’t start until they were together again, and it didn’t continue after they left each other. But one couldn’t live forever like this. And so on Melancholy Hill they made another secret, one to be kept between the two of them, because if anyone found out about their plans to run away together, then the secret would be broken and their plans would crumble.

This is a versatile plot I thought of while listening to Melancholy Hill by Gorillaz. It can contain romance, or it can be pure friendship. Here are my genre-specific thoughts:

Fantasy:
- Human x human - Romeo and Juliet in a fantasy land, forbidden to be together, set to run away. May contain magic, or not, fantastical creatures, or just a realistic plot in a fantasy setting.
- Human x human - one of the characters has been betrothed (can be mine or yours, male or female), and in last ditch efforts, runs away to avoid marrying someone they don't even know, much less love.
- Human x magic-weilder (wizard/elf) - they aren’t allowed to be together, the law forbids it, so they run away where no one can stop them, and have an adventure along the way.

Supernatural:
- Human x ghost - only the human is able to see this ghost, a ghost that has lived on Melancholy Hill for hundreds of years. This ghost has been alone all those years, until they met this human. Their relationship is odd, but wholesome. Since the human was a child, they had visited the Hill and befriended the ghost, and they have grown close. Perhaps they don’t run away, but we can think of something that could make this more interesting. Perhaps the human offers to give up their life to spend eternity with the ghost?
- side note, I will not do werewolves. I see they are making a comeback recently and I am not on the wagon. You might be able to convince me into a human x vampire, but you’ll need a damn good story and writing style to back it up. I will absolutely not do werewolf, though. Sorry.

Realistic:
- Human x human - Romeo and Juliet of modern day (same as fantasy, just… modern). Difference in social ranking/class. Go to different schools. Families hate each other.
- Human x human - they met online, and they have never seen each other in person, but they feel like they have known each other forever. One day, they decide to meet up. This one will be difficult, and may be more of a one-liner story. We’ll need to go through some of their online talking before actually meeting, to get to know each other's characters. But it could still be interesting.

Sci-fi:
- Human x human - same as above, meeting online
- Human x human - they meet in a virtual reality, Melancholy Hill is a site where few go, and they are able to meet. Maybe they know each other irl, but can’t be seen together, so this is their escape, or maybe it’s the same plot as above. Either could be interesting.

I’m also open to ideas if you have any more.

Here’s about me, and what I am looking for:
- I write 2+ paragraphs, and I am literate. I may consider a one-liner story if we can keep it interesting and cute. But I am more interested in an in depth and interesting story.
- I will bring forth ideas and expect you to do the same. I may reject your ideas, and you can do so with mine. No hard feelings. If you can’t take/give criticism, don’t come to me.
- I enjoy a nice romance. But I need some plot sustenance. I take the story over the romance any day.
- Romantically, my characters are submissive, they will not take the first move, so if yours don’t, and you want romance, it won’t work between us. I don’t have any triggers, but let me know if you do. And I would really prefer my partner have a character that is interesting and fun to play with. I don’t want a boring and common place story.
- I play only females. I will make a new character for each of these plots I do. I can do MxF or FxF, though I prefer MxF.
- If you read through all of this, and you are interested, add and message me so that I know you really want to do this (don’t just comment/like, I will not friend you, and I will not be the first to message). If you haven’t read through all of this and are interested, I will know and will be disappointed when you don’t follow a rule.
- I can’t wait to write a story with you.

High School Sweethearts

mlox replied to mlox's topic

O P E N 01/11/22

Every school has their high school sweet hearts. Sometimes it's just one, sometimes it's a few. But every school has them. At Lin-Gales School, it's M/C and Y/C. A small-ish, private school, Lin-Gales cost money to get in. Something Y/C has in their family. Their story started out cliche from the beginning. M/C is a smart girl, and lived with her two parents and four siblings, her being right in the middle. While they weren't a poor family, they certainly weren't rich either, and with a seven person family, they couldn't afford to send one of their kids to a private school. However, with M/C's grades, the offered scholarship, and her parents wanting the best for their daughter, they made ends meet. She was sent off to board at Lin-Gales Private High School in ninth grade.

At a glance, she didn't stand out particularly against all the other new freshmen that were coming in -- perhaps not as expensive -- yet for some reason, she caught Y/C's eye (a feat she still can't quite understand). Slowly, over time, they became close, and then closer. By the time freshmen year was over, they were essentially a couple (not officially until the following school year). They spent the summer apart, as they both returned home, and spent the summer after sophomore year apart as well. Despite this, their relationship seemed only stronger when school started again. It gave Alison something to be excited about when she went back to school, Y/C gave her purpose to continue even if the work was getting harder, the bills seemed bigger, and her time spent not working or studying even smaller.

The third summer, right before their senior year began, they spent together, splitting their time tween M/C's home and Y/C's home. This was their final, perfect year together before they comitted to colleges (the time to decide whether they could handle long distance, though that wasn't foremost on their minds). Everything was going their way. Until their summer got cut short when M/C received news that her mother was in the hospital. She returned home to spend as much time with her family as she could.

And then the school year started.

Money was tight, especially now, and stress and tension built on M/C. She had become a ticking time bomb, but refused to admit it, brushing off concerns with just an "I'm ok, just tired." There was nothing that could be done to fix it. She spent less time with Y/C, but when she did, she just wanted to be close, sitting on Y/C's lap in the common room, snuggling during the day when they could visit each other's dorms, sneaking out late. M/C had become more rash in her decisions, taking more risks. She cut classes, skipped her work shifts, and yet still studied throughout all hours of the night, staying up late only to fall asleep during the day, or crash at Y/C's room (a dorm violation highly prohibited, though they had always found their way around this or suffered through the consequences regretless). Though she was stressed, they were still the sweet hearts. They'd been together for so long.

Until this year.

With M/C's distance and emotional barrier, Y/C had had enough. Whether it was snapping at her, breaking up, cheating, or just a ruomor that M/C had latched onto, their relationship was deteriorating to a thin strand. Would it be enough? With the struggles with money, her mother's health, her family, her grades which were slowly slipping out of her grasp. She was lost. And she would never admit it.

This is an old plot I am deciding to revive. It is kind of all laid out, however it does not have to be followed. When I originally wrote this (I have made some changes since) this was just the sort of story vibe I was looking for. It might have been from a song stuck in my head or a movie/show idea I couldn't forget that evolved into this plotline. That said, it doesn't have a 'start point' and it doesn't have to be followed in the least. If you see this plot and think I'd be cool to write with, just message me (with some other ideas of your own if this one isn't your cup of tea). I love criticism and I love hearing your ideas.

Some more about this plot and characters: I will be using an OC that I haven't decided on. If you look through my blog and decide you like one of them, just let me know and I can work that out (their backstories can be shifted to fit the story or vice versa). I am a literate writer, I will write three paragraphs minimum (the only exception to this is when it is a dialogue/action heavy scene and we have worked out a prior agreement) and up to a page in casual writing if I am feeling it (novella is for you special people out there muah).

Some warnings before going into this: slice of life isn't my strength, which is why I am posting this plot because I do want to improve on it. However, if you find a way to incorporate other genres into this plot, be it fantasy, crime, horror, you will be my absolute favorite. This plot is definitely available for a fantasy twist, perhaps a highschool for fantasy creatures, either in a humans world (outcasts) or a world of magic. And different twists can be taken, magic is suddenly disappearing, some radiation was leaked, she is suddenly unable to master a task, etc etc. Please share your ideas as well.

Last thing, I promise. Please take a look at my profile, skim my rules, add and then message me if you are interested in writing with me. Let me know what you are interested in writing (be it this plot or some thing else you have come up with) and please please please come with some ideas. Thank you, and I hope to write with you soon <3

New Kid (FxM or FxF)

Lia Powers is the girl you had decided you would befriend, and maybe even more than just that. New, and still learning and getting used to the style of school, she was ripe for the picking, and even had a loud yet sweet personality to go along with her. But as you get closer, you notice exactly how sheltered she grew up.

Formerly homeschooled, this is the girls first year where she want being taught by her mother, or by an online teacher. She had barely explored the world, and though she was always down for anything, she did seem a bit hesitant. As if there was always something in the back of her head, the moral part of her that refused to let her go and have what everyone else considered fun. As she slowly became integrated with you and your group of friends, the realization came upon everyone, and you most of all decided to show her the world.

Lia, you, and a few others were having lunch together, talking across the table, about the week, about classes, about home and siblings, any anything. And then the topic of a party came up. The previous weekend there had been a big party, you had been there, and so had another friend, and both of you were being pestered with questions while Lia sat quietly, listening as she finished her meal. And then the attention was turned to her. "C'mon, Lia, tell me you've at least been to a party?" You say as you notice her silence. She bit her lower lip and felt her cheeks warm just barely as she shook her head. "Not unless birthdays count," she said sheepishly. Your lips parted and brows raised in move horror-surprise. "Jesus save us now." You hit the table with your hand, waking the rest of the group up. "How have you made it so long without going to a party. A /real/ party." You stood suddenly, your chair scraping back behind you. "Lia Powers, we're throwing a party, and you have to be there." You point at her. "No ifs ands or buts about it." You say, leaving no room for her to escape from.

Letting out a sigh, Lia smiles slightly. "It's probably about time anyways." She laughed softly, looking up at you. That hesitant innocence still there, yet a spark for adventure just below. You smiled brightly.

Lia is the new kid. This can be high school, private school, or first year of college. You can pick.
Our characters are still getting to know each other, and they'll get closer this way. At first, your character wants Lia, but now it's shifted into something else. And maybe a romance brews, maybe it doesn't.
And to spark it up, since it's Spoopy season, we can have the first party be Halloween themed. Fun stuff there.
I'm looking for literate, third person writers. Smut is alright, but I do have some limits with how far it goes. Romance is on mind, but our characters have to be compatible, and it can't be forced.
Your character will have to be the one making all the first moves. We will both be playing multiple characters to fill the friend group, but Lia is still hesitant in all of this.
We can start from this point or from another point. You decide.
You have to friend and message me if you're interested in this. And come prepared with some ideas.
I can't wait to roleplay with you!

Coincidence

mlox replied to mlox's topic

Updated 3/4/2021 for minor changes: STILL OPEN

Muse A was at the local late night cafe one night, with a few friends, hanging out as a local band played softly in the background. The whole night went smoothly, people drank their coffees and teas. It was a relaxing cafe that brought in new artists each night, sometimes it was poetry, sometimes karaoke, sometimes an art show. Muse A was there to support a friend and have a night to relax after a busy week, however with work the next morning she couldn't stay the whole night. She was on her way out when she bumped into Muse B. They exchanged apologies and parted ways, though one couldn't deny an initial interest.

Muse A is a nurse at the local hospital with long shifts nearly every day, responding to even more patients. One day, they happen to run into Muse B. They crossed paths a few more times over the next week while A is on shift and perhaps even off the clock. Their meetings were pure coincidence... But maybe, is it more than that?

____________________

This is real short and real vague but I don't want to put more detail into it because that would take away from the creative process I intend to put into it with you. The scenes, how they first met at the cafe, whether they exchanged names, or said more than a brief 'sorry' will be up to you later. At the hospital. Why Muse B is in the hospital can be from so many things. Maybe B broke something and A is the nurse, maybe B's relative is in the hospital and B is visiting. Anything. We can also change Muse A to being something else, it doesn't have to be a nurse or in a hospital, they could be a member of the band (or B could) or work at a shelter, or at the cafe itself, or just a local artist. Anything's possible and all ideas are welcome (especially if you'd like to twist this into either a fantasy or sci-fi story)

I am fine with the role of either A or B. This may turn into romance and then some, but only if our characters end up clicking. Maybe the relationship just grows into a friendship, maybe it goes further than that, maybe it breaks. Only time will tell.

However, nothing is ever a coincidence.

Add and message me if you're interested.

Some quick things:
I will do MxF or FxF (I play female only), romance and mature themes are ok, drama may be included, you /must/ contribute to the creative process or I will drop it without warning. Don't expect me to do all the work. I write more comfortably in third person, and I am adjustable with length though.

I hope this interests you, add and message me!
