ORIGIN
　Feng Min was a young girl when she first picked up computer games, and she was instantly hooked. The brand-new worlds enchanted her with colors, sounds and explosions – a chance to be somewhere else, or someone else. Her parents saw no wrong with a few minutes in front of the screen, but as minutes turned into hours and sometimes days, they finally decided to pull the plug and force Feng Min to put more efforts into her studies.
　She felt smothered by her parents who refused to see the potential of a future in games, so she left home and spent her time in internet cafés and LAN parties where the old rules didn't apply. She spent hours playing, streaming, competing to rise to the top. Her parents became what she called "holiday parents" as she never saw them outside the holidays, and she became the black sheep of a one-child-family. In the gaming world, however, she finally found respect. Nicknamed the "Shining Lion," she was invited to join a prestigious e-sports team and to live in their dorms, where she found a sanctuary free of the misconceptions and prejudice she had felt from her parents and the non-gaming world.
　Feng Min pushed her limits to prove she was the best. Sleep was less important to her than training. At the top of her game, she filled stadiums with fans who adored her. But it couldn't last forever; The pressure to be the best grew stronger and stronger. She pushed herself too far, slept too little, and her performance began to slip. She started to lose. At night, she would stay up, tormented by the thought of disappointing her parents… and her fans.
　She spiraled out of control and fell into a pattern of self-destruction. She started wandering the streets and visiting bars, where no one knew of e-sports, waking up in places she didn't remember. One day she woke up somewhere completely different… in a never-ending nightmare. Feng Min did not despair – as she learned more about the challenge she was up against, she realized this was what she had been training for her entire life.
　Now, she was going to win.

feng min's english has improved a great deal since awakening in the nightmare realm for the first time. language barriers are a common problem among foreign survivors, so group meetings are routinely set up to break down these barriers and promote better communication. with english being the universal language, feng min picked up on it fairly quick and can now speak it fluently.

ad. she speaks with a heavy chinese accent.

ad. she has an interest in learning other languages, most notably korean.

her memories aren't always lost after a cycle. instead, everything that's happened before a death feels like a dream when she reawakens beside the campfire. some memories can leave a lasting impression on her while other memories can be forgotten in a matter of minutes. feng min may forget some events and / or conversations if she's not quick enough to detail them in her journal.

ad. afflictions or scars she received during a survival cycle reverse upon death and subsequent resurrection at the campfire. it's the entity's intent to wipe the slate clean so she can relive the horror all over again.

feng min has put an end to her drinking habits since being taken by the entity. not that she had much of a choice. liquor is hard to come by in the nightmare realm. needless to say, quitting cold turkey wasn't exactly a seamless transition for our resident hare. in the beginning she suffered terrible withdrawals that kept her awake during intervals and had a negative impact on her trial runs. eventually though, feng min overcame her sorrows and put her focus toward severing her connection to the entity, believing if she beats the "ultimate game", she can return home, her tarnished reputation restored.

ad. part of feng min fears what she may return to should the realm cease to exist. will she even have a world? a home to go back to? or will she have been forgotten in time? after learning that the entity has a tendency to take people who were on the brink of death, she also wonders if the hypothetical end of the realm would mean a permanent end for her.

as an avid collector of flashlights, feng min will often trade scavenged goods with the other survivors for medical supplies.

ad. she has a preference for gel dressings, anti-haemorrhagic syringes, and self-adherent wraps.

ad. her favorite flashlight is the will o wisp. she likes the cartoonish ghost lens and orange hue produced by the bulb. she thinks it's cute and loves the irony of blinding the ghostface with it. feng min wont trade her will o wisp for anything, no matter how tempting the offer.

feng min is a member of eternal souls, a secret group created by the pariahs to combat the entity. her endless drive, stealth, resourcefulness and habit to write down all her experiences made her a perfect candidate. she leads the trial side of the group's endeavors; orchestrating game plans and contingencies and working closely with felix richter to develop clock systems for each of the realms. during intervals she is tasked with venturing deeper into the fog in hopes of uncovering further secrets. it keeps her mind occupied and gives her something to do other than prepare for upcoming trials, even if her side missions don't always end well.

my ride-or-die dìyī. everything i learned i picked up from her. if you think i am bad, you are in for a treat if you meet this sassy sweed. she is the smartest, snarkiest, most cunning of us all. a fearless lynx whose craftiness warrants immediate respect. vindictive sometimes. one time she got mad and set all the cornfields ablaze. no f***s are given, which explains why she is a horny degenerate all the time. hah! if we are not arguing, we are sharing a smoke at the back of wreckers' yard, coming up with ways to wreck the lives of our enemies. the sh*t we get up to would make the entity shed a tear of joy. maybe that is why it has not punished us yet. meg and i have this little competition with her to see who can piss off the most killers. she is winning by a landslide, but i am catching up~


　WILLIAM ( BILL ) OVERBECK
tough, wise old man. keeps soldiering on. when i first met him, i thought for sure he would not last in this world. boy was i wrong. heh. man is the definition of unbreakable. relentless energy backed by years of hardship. he taught me to dig deep. get up, keep fighting. do not be a quitter no matter how dire the situation may seem. he has pulled me through my darkest hours. for that, my respect for him will never falter. the others worry about how much he pushes himself, but i know, he is right where he wants to be.


　KATE DENSON
sunflower. probably the purest soul you will meet. so full of hope. no wonder the entity wanted her so bad. she is too good for this world. i never really appreciated acoustics until one night her music lolled me to sleep. she just has this way of changing the somber mood around the campfire. more often then not, i find myself drawn to her uplifting vocals. i do not like to be dependent on anyone, but i will be the first to admit she is the first person i go to when i want to escape, if only for a bit.


　YUI KIMRUA
has the heart of a winner. a champion like me. rejects tradition. will not let anyone tell her who she needs to be. that is a quality i greatly admire in a person. she is the definition of a kindred spirit, but something more. she adapted to the fog quicker than most do when they first come to. her arrival brought the inspiration i was lacking. gave me the push forward that i needed to amp up my game. she is not afraid to challenge rules thought to be set in stone. her versatility makes trials interesting. knows her mechanics well. has some seriously strong pallet game! and anyone who makes hell for the killers is a saint in my book.


　THE HUNTRESS
fiercely territorial yet lonely rabbit with a mega mommy complex, but she takes it to the next level. listen to me when i say, if you hear her lullaby, turn the other way. you do not want to catch her eye, or her hatchet. wish i knew how to get rid of the hare mask she gave me. smashing, burning, throwing it away―nothing. works.

　QUENTIN SMITH
i often wonder how a guy can seem like he is asleep all the time but is actually awake. somehow quentin manages to do it, like he is trapped somewhere in the twilight—not quite asleep but not quite awake. when i think about the horrid demon that chases him relentlessly, i start to get where he stands. our insomnia is one thing we share in common, but he is too much of a bleeding heart even if he does not see it. i mean, to be willing to sacrifice himself to prevent that same demon from hurting the girl he loves? that takes heart. he has got this notion that me and the others need to be saved. he is not wrong, but it is sometimes nauseating how selfless the guy is. but at the same time... i admire his drive. even while he is in a constant state of delirium, he keeps pressing on. i will let him continue to think he is making a difference, if only to safeguard that resolve, and keep him strong.


　THE TRAPPER
they are not built bigger or brawnier than this guy. you would think being around as long as he has would make him predictable, but ol maccie still finds ways to amp up his game. lowkey respect.

oh megadeath. she is not perfect, but she tries her baby best. she always seems to be there for me even when i am not there to return the favor. ugh. how can a girl be so forgiving? in my written memories, i have left her to die on the hook, and she would just be okay with it! why would anyone be okay with that? i used to get mad at her for no reason at all. why does she not get mad? why is she so compassionate? why does she put everyone before herself? she puts on a strong, competitive front so no one will worry about her, but anyone with a working pair of peepers can tell she is slipping. how long until she ends up in the void..?


　THE CLOWN
far from funny. this guy is faster than he looks. odious in every shape and form, with disgusting strength to boot. just being remotely close to him makes me want to douse myself in bleach. he is a total creep. finger lickin nasty. i think he actually enjoys it here. even more than me. saw one of my fingers hanging from his key ring, like... some kind of trophy. he makes me sick.

　　　　　crow boi. what even is his deal with the crows? it baffles feng min to see how calm the crows are around jake. she sees them as what they are: spies from the shadows, eyes of the entity. and yet, they don't react to jake's presence as they would others. they don't alert the killers to his location. why is that? what's his secret? these are questions that pop into feng min's head every time she sees jake interact with the crows. he seems to enjoy their company more than people, which is fair. jake is a lot like her when she first woke up in the nightmare realm. bit of a loner, prefers to keep people at arm's length. that's the rational thing to do when at any time, the most precious of bonds can be tarnished by the world they live in. despite that, feng min knows he'll have her back when it counts.
