R. CHAMBERS

Robert Chambers was raised by his mother, Phyllis née Shanley, a nurse who emigrated from County Leitrim in Ireland to New York. He served as an altar boy and attended a number of prep schools on a scholarship, as his mother could not afford private school tuition. Chambers did not thrive in an environment where many of his classmates were considerably better than he was, and he struggled with poor grades and antisocial behavior, including stealing and drug abuse. Among the schools he attended are: Saint David's School (New York City), Choate Rosemary-Hall, The Browning School and finally York Preparatory School. Chambers also attended Wilbraham Junior High in Massachusetts during high school.

Chambers was accepted by Boston University, where he completed one semester, but was "asked to withdraw" because of a couple of events, one of which involved a stolen credit card. He then committed other petty thefts and assaults in connection with his drug and alcohol abuse.

Unable to hold down a job, he received a summons for disorderly conduct one night after leaving the Upper East Side bar Dorrian's Red Hand, located at 300 East 84th Street in Manhattan. Chambers destroyed the police subpoena and as he was leaving the scene he shouted, "Damn cowards, you must go after niggers!"

He later entered and was discharged from the Hazelden Clinic in Minnesota, an addiction treatment center. He lived with his mother in an apartment at 11 East 90th Street.

Chambers' girlfriend, Alex Kapp, publicly broke up with him at the Red Hand of Dorrian bar on the night of Levin's death. Kapp was overheard expressing jealousy over the presence of Jennifer Levin, Chambers' secret lover, throwing him a bag of condoms and shouting "You can take those back, because you're not using them on me!" and that's how she ended the relationship. Chambers subsequently left the bar with Levin.

Levin's half-naked corpse, showing strangulation marks, was covered in bruises, bite marks, and cuts, the body was found by a cyclist under an elm (type of tree) on a grassy knoll near Fifth Avenue and 83rd Street, behind the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Her bra and shirt were pushed up to her neck, and her skirt was around her waist. The coroner said Levin died of "asphyxiation by strangulation", and police officials had said there were numerous bruises on her neck, both from the strangulation and from her own fingernails as she grabbed her killer's hands and tried to remove them. Later, Chambers closely watched the officers investigating the scene. Investigators had found Levin's panties about 150 feet away.

The police heard Chambers' name from patrons at the bar, who had seen him leaving with Levin. When authorities arrived to question him at his home, he had fresh scratches on his face and arms, which he initially said were "cat scratches". He was then taken in for questioning.

Chambers changed his story several times: "'your cat had its nails clipped'"; him "parting ways with Levin immediately after leaving the bar"; "he separated from her to buy cigarettes". (It was later discovered that Levin did not smoke.) In the final version of his confession, he claimed that some time after he and Levin left the bar, she asked him for "rough sex", tied Chambers' hands with her panties, and injured her genitals with the way she stimulated him, and that she had been accidentally killed when he freed his hands and pushed her away from him.

Confronted with this explanation, examining Assistant District Attorney Saracco said, "You were the first man I know who was raped in Central Park."

Before sentencing, Chambers was allowed to see his father, to whom he said, "What a bitch, why won't she leave me alone?"

The media had dubbed him "The Preppie Murder". Some of the New York media sources had reported the crime in shocking aspects, for example, the New York Daily News wrote: "How Jennifer courted death" and "Sex game turned brutal". Levin's reputation was attacked, while Chambers was portrayed as a Kennedy "playboy altar boy" with a "promising future".

Archbishop Theodore Edgar McCarrick of Newark, New Jersey, later Archbishop of Washington, wrote a letter in support of Chambers' bail request. He had known Chambers and his mother because Phyllis Chambers had been employed as a nurse by Cardinal Terence Cooke. McCarrick, was close to the Chambers family and was Robert's godfather at his christening.

Chambers was granted bail through his family and bar owner Jack Dorrian.
As such, he remained free on bail for the two years of his trial.

The defense sought to portray Levin as a promiscuous woman who kept a "sexual diary"; however, no such diary existed. Levin instead kept a small notebook that contained the names and phone numbers of his friends and common appointment notations. Such tactics were met with public outrage, with protesters (some calling themselves "Justice for Jennifer") demonstrating outside the courtroom.

Jennifer Levin had just graduated from Baldwin High School in New York and was going to attend college at Chamberlayne College in Boston. Chambers went on to describe
Levin as the "most beautiful girl in the world."

With the jury deadlocked for nine days, a deal was reached in which Chambers pleaded guilty to the lesser felony of first-degree murder (a Class B felony), and one count of burglary (a Class C felony) for his robberies in 1986. He was sentenced to serve from 5 to 15 years.

In April 1988, the tabloid television program "A Current Affair" broadcast a home video showing Chambers at a party when he was out on bail. He was shown in the video with four girls dressed in lingerie, choking each other with their hands while making loud gagging noises, and twisting the head of a Barbie doll, saying in falsetto, "My name is... Oops I think I I killed her!"

Chambers served most of his 15-year sentence at Auburn State Prison, but was later transferred to Clinton Correctional Facility due to his infractions. He assaulted a prison guard and was cited repeatedly for possessing bladed weapons and drugs, which resulted in additional criminal charges. Ellen Levin, mother of Jennifer Levin, was also invoked before the New York parole board to deny her parole. Nearly five years of his term were served in solitary confinement.

Phyllis Chambers, Robert's mother, left with Robert in 1988, had been a nurse in Ireland but moved to New York, where she became a caretaker for wealthy New York families. Phyllis hoped that Robert would become a successful businessman. However, his expulsions from a series of prep schools and admission to the Hazeldon substance abuse treatment center undermined his aspirations.

Chambers was released from Auburn Prison on February 14, 2003, having served the entirety of his sentence for his numerous infractions. His release was a media circus, they arrived in front of the prison as early as 13 hours before his 7:30 am release time.

When the prosecution's tactic of "blaming the victim" finally broke the bargain Chambers accepted, Ellen dedicated her life to arguing against this tactic in criminal cases. She has worked to change laws that emphasize the rights of criminals and has used her experience to help counsel other parents who have lost children to murder.

The same day, a documentary was shown on Dateline, interviewing Chambers. Chambers, went on to claim that he accidentally strangled victim Jennifer Levin in a desperate attempt to stop her from harming him during rough sex in New York's Central Park. He also denied that he had any disciplinary problems in prison. However, he had numerous infractions, including assaulting a staff member and was caught with heroin in his cell.

After leaving prison, Chambers settled in Dalton, Georgia with his girlfriend, Shawn Kovell, who had appeared in the infamous video, in which he "plays" with a Barbie doll, made before his sentencing. The two lived there for eight to nine months. He found a job at the Pentafab dye factory. Chambers and Kovell moved into an apartment, vacated by Kovell's mother, in Manhattan on East 57th Street of Sutton Place, New York City, Kovell's mother passed away in the fall of 2003. Chambers found a job at a limousine company in Queens, and later to a sports trophy manufacturer in New Jersey.

Robert Chambers, and his girlfriend Shawn Kovell pleaded not guilty to drug sales and weapons charges at an arraignment hearing, October 25, 2007. Chambers, as shown left on his way to the prosecution hearing , said nothing more than "not guilty". His attorney, Valerie Van Leer Greenberg, declined to comment after the court hearing.

Shortly before Thanksgiving 2004, Chambers was pulled over in his Saab for driving with a suspended license in Manhattan on 139th Street. Envelopes containing drugs were found in Chambers' car. Chambers was charged on November 29, 2004, with possession of heroin and cocaine, driving with a suspended license, and also driving a car without a valid roadworthy stamp.

Chambers pleaded guilty in July 2005, and on August 29, he was sentenced to a reduced sentence of 90 days in jail and a $200 fine.

On October 22, 2007 Chambers was arrested again, this time in his own apartment, and charged with three counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance in the first degree, three counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance in the second degree, and one count of resisting arrest. . Kovell was also arrested on a second-degree felony sale of a controlled substance. The New York Daily News reported:

Cops said Chambers, 41, struggled with officers who tried to handcuff him on the criminal charges. One detective had a broken thumb in the scuffle.

The prosecutor released photos found in the couple's apartment. One shows Robert Chambers holding a bag of cocaine. Signs of drug abuse were evident in the shaggy Manhattan apartment, including a mortar and pestle used to grind the cocaine, and powdery residue.

Commenting on his new arrest, former Assistant District Attorney Linda Fairstein, who had prosecuted Chambers for Levin's murder, said:

"That doesn't surprise me. I always believed his drug and alcohol problem would get him into trouble again. He's had the opportunity to detox and take college courses to straighten out his life, but that's clearly not in his best interest. . He hasn't learned anything in the last 20 years."

Chambers and Kovell were charged with drug trafficking. The defense alleged that Chambers had become an addict by the age of 14 and was using around 10 to 12 bags of heroin a day. It was also reported that he also smoked marijuana and took prescription drugs. Chambers had planned to plead insanity. The prosecution argued that Chambers was a drug dealer and had sold $2,800 worth of heroin in an undercover police moment. Chambers would face life in prison on the drug charges.

On August 11, 2008, the Manhattan DA's office announced that Chambers had pleaded guilty to selling drugs. On September 2, 2008, he was sentenced to 19 years in prison.

R. RAMIREZ

Born on February 29, 1960 in El Paso, Texas, Ricardo Leyva Muñoz Ramirez who would later become known as simply Richard Ramirez was the youngest of 5 children of Julian Ramirez and Mercedes Muñoz, Mexicans who emigrated to the United States in search of better life conditions. During his childhood, he suffered 2 serious accidents. At the age of 2 years, a piece of furniture fell on his head, resulting in the wound needing to be sutured with more than 30 stitches. At the age of 5 while having fun in a park, he was hit hard on the head by a swing. Richard went on to suffer frequent epileptic seizures ever since that would last into his teens. His father Julian was a former police officer in the Mexican city of Juarez and had an explosive temper, which often culminated in physical aggressions whose victim was his youngest son. To escape domestic violence, Richard slept for several nights in the local cemetery. Young Richard lived with Miguel "Mike" Ramirez, his cousin, a Vietnam War veteran. He supplied marijuana to his younger cousin when he was just 10 years old and displayed his photo collection that depicted the horrors of the Vietnam War including images of Vietnamese women he had raped and mutilated on Asian soil. In 1973, when he was just 12 years old, Richard Ramirez witnessed his cousin Mike shoot his wife, Jessie, in the face with a .38 caliber revolver after a domestic fight. After this episode, Richard moved in with his older sister Ruth and her husband Roberto, who provided lysergic acid diethylamide, a drug popularly known as LSD, to his young brother-in-law. At that time, Richard rarely went to school. He got a job at the Holiday Inn hotel where he supplemented his income by committing petty theft but was soon fired for trying to rape a female guest. The prosecution was not pursued because the victim did not return to the city of El Paso to testify against Richard Ramirez. After this episode, he was arrested twice more on the allegation of possession of an illicit substance, at the same time he dropped out of school. After attending religious services, Richard ironically awakened an interest in Satanism and at the age of 18 moved to Los Angeles.
During his early days in California, Richard made ends meet by reselling stashes of pot he had bought for less while still in Texas. With the end of the merchandise, he started stealing cars and selling the belongings he found inside the vehicles to third parties in order to support his newest addiction; the cocaine. By this time, his involvement with Satanism had grown and he was already a member of the Church of Satan. He spent a few months in prison for car theft but was soon back on the streets. On June 28, 1984, Richard entered the home of Jennie Wilcow, a 79-year-old woman, raping and stabbing her to death, in addition to taking with him several belongings that were in the residence. The police collected fingerprints left on the window of the property but no other clues to the offender's identity were found. Ramirez acquired a .22 caliber revolver that he would use in the various homicides that would terrorize California over the next year. On March 17, 1985 in the city of Rosemad (located in Los Angeles County) Richard Ramirez approached Maria Hernandez, a 22-year-old young woman at the door of her residence. With his .22 caliber revolver he shot Hernandez in the head. Luckily, the shot hit her hand, which prevented further damage to her physical integrity. The young woman fell to the floor pretending to be dead while Richard entered her residence and killed 34-year-old Dayle Okazaki (shot in the forehead), her roommate. Maria Hernandez described the killer as a tall man wearing a baseball cap and wielding a gun. The only clue found by the police on that occasion was a cap from the Australian band AC/DC found outside the residence. On the same night (March 17, 1985) after the crimes committed in Rosemad, Tsia Lia Yu, a 30-year-old law student in the city of Monterey Park (also in Los Angeles County) was forced by Richard Ramirez to stop your vehicle on a public road. Pulled outside the vehicle, Tsia Lia Yu was hit by 2 shots and Ramirez fled the scene driving the victim's car, who in turn died a few hours later in the hospital. After the autopsy, the investigation found that the bullet taken from Tsia Lia Yu was fired by the same weapon used in the murder of Dayle Okazaki. On March 27, 1985, Richard broke into the home of Vincent and Maxinne Zazzara in the small town of Whittier. After killing Vincent with a shot to the head, Ramirez tied up his wife so that he could subtract the property from the residence with greater peace of mind. However, Maxinne broke free and wielding a shotgun that was hidden under the bed, tried to shoot Ramirez. However, the weapon was...

discharged it and Richard targeted it without mercy. The bodies were found by the couple's son. Maxinne was undressed, in addition to having her eyes removed and showing signs of injuries on her face, neck, abdomen and groin, all caused by a knife taken from the couple's kitchen. In the thoracic region, she sported a wound in the shape of the letter T. The autopsy revealed that, like her spouse, Maxinne was shot in the skull and died instantly. All other wounds were performed post mortem. The police were confused as they suspected the existence of a serial killer but the victims were different as well as the modus operandi which is not very common since serial killers usually have a pattern in their actions. On May 14, 1985 in Monterey Park, Richard entered the home of elderly William and Lillian Doi. William was executed in bed and after stealing the couple's belongings, Lillian, a disabled person, was raped and beaten but had her life spared and was thus able to describe Ramirez's physical characteristics. A footprint left in the garden of the Doi residence was compatible with the footprint left in a previous homicide, which confirmed the suspicion that it was a serial killer.
On May 29, 1985, the victims were 83-year-old Malbel Bell and her 81-year-old sister Florence Lang in the city of Monrovia. Both were attacked with a sledgehammer. Pentagrams were drawn with lipstick on the victims' bodies and on the wall of the room where the crime took place. Florence Lang was revived by doctors but Malbel Bell did not survive. Panic had already set in in Los Angeles and nearby towns. Local newspapers gave the serial killer the nickname "The Night Stalker" (The Night Stalker). On the night of May 30, 1985, 32-year-old Carol Kyle woke up to a flashlight beam in her face. It was Richard Ramirez who tied her up and violently raped her while her son was also tied up and locked in the closet. The Night Stalker left, sparing the lives of Carol and her son, who managed to break free and call the police, describing the attacker as a tall, black-haired man of Hispanic origin. The barbaric acts continued in the following months. Rapes followed by homicides and robberies occurred in Los Angeles and nearby cities. Finally, a pattern began to be detected; normally, the male element was killed at the beginning of the action and the female victim suffered sexual abuse and then also had her life taken. A composite portrait was released by the authorities and the frightened population bought guard dogs in a desperate attempt to scare away the Night Stalker. All residences followed the guidelines of the authorities; lock doors and windows in addition to increasing internal lighting in properties during the night. The number of firearms purchased in greater Los Angeles in August 1985 was greater than any other period in the city's history. Nobody wanted to be the next victim. On August 8, 1985, Ramirez attacked back and killed Elvas Abowath with 5 shots to the skull and raped his wife, Sakina Abowath in the couple's residence. After this attack, Ramirez decided to leave Los Angeles and take his crime spree to San Francisco where he soon claimed new victims; Peter Pan and his wife Barbara Pan. Peter died with 2 shots in the head and Barbara after being raped was also hit with 2 shots in her skull. Despite amazingly surviving, Barbara remained with severe sequelae. Repeating what he did at other crime scenes, Ramirez drew a pentagram on the bedroom wall using lipstick. The satanic signature caught the attention of San Francisco authorities, who at a press conference released all possible information about the suspect. This made Ramirez return to Los Angeles, but not before getting rid of his pair of sneakers that had left footprints at the crime scenes and his .22 caliber revolver. Both were flung off the Golden Gate Bridge into San Francisco Bay. Again in Los Angeles, Richard Ramirez drove to Mission Viejo on the night of August 24, 1985 where he killed Bill Carns and raped his girlfriend 4 times. Upon finishing the act, he forced the victim to swear his love for Satan and so she did so in fear of becoming another fatal victim. Perseguidor da Noite already had 34 attacks in its history where it committed, among other crimes, the number of 14 homicides. A neighbor of Bill Carns told the police that he saw a vehicle prowling the neighborhood on the night of the crime, informing the license plate to the authorities. Los Angeles police verified that the vehicle, an orange 1976 Toyota, had been stolen. After 2 days the car was located and after numerous investigations on the vehicle a fingerprint was found on the rear view mirror. The fingerprint was identified as belonging to Ricardo Leyva Muñoz Ramirez better known...

cited as Richard Ramirez. At a later point, the fingerprint was found to be compatible with prints left at various Night Stalker crime scenes. In the summer of 1985, the largest manhunt in the history of the state of California began. Richard was unaware that his name and likeness were being publicized as he was in Arizona visiting a relative. An employee of a bus company went to the police and reported that Richard Ramirez had traveled to the city of Phoenix, Arizona but had purchased a return ticket. The police set up a siege at the bus station waiting for Ramirez to return, who upon arrival saw his photo in the newspapers at a shop at the bus station. When an employee of Latin origin saw him, she started shouting; "EL MATADOR! EL MATADOR!" (THE KILLER!)
Richard got away, ran for 3 km/h towards the east of Los Angeles while more than 40 vehicles were sweeping the area. When trying to steal the car of a resident of the region, neighbors chased and assaulted him. Already immobilized, they called the police and O Perseguidor da Noite had been arrested. His bloodthirsty reign was over.
After his arrest, Richard Ramirez invoked his right to remain silent. During his trial, he never showed any regret for the crimes committed. When the pictures of the victims were shown, he would laugh, offend the relatives, laugh at the victims' families and shout phrases like "Viva Satã!" in addition to bearing a pentagram drawn in his hand. Ramirez rejected a series of public defenders and accepted to be defended by 2 inexperienced lawyers who, alleging an alleged strategy, did not enlist any defense witnesses. Meanwhile, a group of women began to appear at the trials wearing black clothes. They were Night Stalker fans. On September 20, 1989 after the 8th of 165 witnesses, O Perseguidor da Noite was found guilty of the crimes imputed to him and on November 7, 1989 he was sentenced to death by beheading.
In prison, Richard received numerous letters and visits from fans and began a relationship with Doreen Lioy (one of his admirers) whom he married in 1996 at San Quentin State Prison. The California Supreme Court dismissed their claims in 2006 upholding their convictions and their death sentence. Richard claimed that he was not well evaluated psychiatrically and that the lawyers who defended him did not meet the minimum requirements required. In another request for release on June 7, 2013, the judge argued no and Ramirez's argument for "yes" was again this one. Then, in an ironic way, he was 3 days later transferred to the Maximum Security Mindhunter World Prison "which would fulfill all these requirements perfectly and he wouldn't have to complain anymore" as he said. Well, that's what the judge told himself. When talking to other officials, the judge would admit that it was because Ramirez was actually not complying with the rules. Richard died the same day at Mindhunter Maximum Security World Prison, a victim of cancer of the lymphatic system while awaiting execution on death row. Medical examiners also cited other conditions that contributed to his death such as drug abuse and hepatitis C which severely damaged his liver likely acquired through injecting drug use in his youth. His wife Doreen Lioy did not show up to claim Richard's body which was cremated. On the date of his death, she had not visited him for 3 years.

E. KEMPER

Like most serial killers around the world, Edmund Emil Kemper III had family problems as a child. He spent every day seriously arguing with his mother. It turns out that they were not mere discussions but humiliations uttered by her mother. His parents separated when Kemper was 9 years old and from then on, a long succession of stepfathers attended his house. He missed his father a lot since the separation. Other than that, he never got along with his sisters who, like their mother, looked down on him. In fact, they were very afraid of Kemper and found it bizarre. All this when he was still a child and you will understand why this feeling. When he was approximately 10 years old, Kemper told one of his sisters that he was in love with a high school teacher... so far so good. The problem was its conclusion; he would have to kill her to get a kiss. This sentence was said spontaneously and authentically to his sister. Also, from an early age, Edmund enjoyed pranks quite eccentric for his age; simulating a death in a gas chamber and cutting off his mother's cats for example and Kemper was an absurdly tall child (2 meters) and weighed over 100 kg. Perhaps the biggest problem in Kemper's psychic resourcefulness was the way his guardians dealt with his exoticism. Instead of seeking psychiatric or even psychoanalytic help; At that time in the middle of the last century, the psychoanalytic school led by Sigmund Freud was becoming increasingly popular in Europe (and the world). However, instead, Edmund's mother preferred to transfer his room to the basement; place without the minimum of ventilation and lighting that is; segregate and hide their child from acquaintances and their own family. Parallel to all these difficulties, Kemper led a bad school life. Even though he was very tall, he was very afraid of being beaten and ridiculed by his peers. He ended up without friends and without a person he could confide in. Faced with the total lack of control in front of her son, Edmund's mother decided to delegate the responsibility of raising her parents. At the age of 15, Kemper then went to live with his grandparents on a farm in North Fork, California, which was quite isolated from the urban city. He spent the day hunting animals in the fields with his rifle given to him by his grandfather. However, he had a bad relationship with his grandmother. She complained that he kept staring at her nonstop to the point of frightening her. However, Edmund did not obey her and also did not understand why he should obey her. Until on a certain opportunity, fed up with not being understood, however difficult it really was, he decided to shoot his grandmother in the head. Not knowing what to make of his grandfather, he chose to be more practical; kills him too (as much as he liked him). He was eventually diagnosed as a result of such crimes as psychotic and paranoid. He was therefore admitted to the psychiatric hospital in Atascadero, where he finally no longer felt like a stranger to others. The more he listened to the sadistic and unhealthy experiences of his roommates (rape cases were his favorite) the more he psychically encouraged their sexual fantasies. Obviously he never narrated such fictions to his doctors. As in the eyes of health professionals, Kemper was an obedient patient, religious, focused on the tasks required of him, intelligent and, above all, repentant of his crimes, his medical discharge was on the verge of being granted. Meanwhile, he was awarded 18 months probation. Despite not being indicated by the doctors, he returned to live with his mother. He had a great admiration for the police career; his dream was to work in the police. It turns out that his aspiration was quickly frustrated because he was too tall for the maximum height allowed in the edict. He got quite upset and started collecting guns and knives. In addition to his great disappointment at not being able to be a police officer, even though he got a good job and acquired his financial independence, his mother continued to despise and humiliate him. At age 20, he bought a car that looked extremely like a police car and amused himself by giving rides to young women... that's when the massacre of schoolgirls began.

To finally satisfy his sexual fantasies, Kemper set the stage for future criminal practices. He removed the antenna from his car, prevented the opening of the passenger door and stored plastic bags, blankets and weapons inside the car. When he gave rides to students, they soon noticed that the driver was straying from the desired route and, when he was alerted to the distortion of the route, Edmund drew his gun and demanded that nothing more be said. After arriving at a remote location, he usually killed his victim by suffocating her with a plastic bag through numerous stab wounds or shots from a firearm to later "have sex" with the corpse. Afterwards, he took the corpses home.

(the same as his mother's) where he examined them and learned a little more about human anatomy. After the "autopsy", she would bury the remains. Not infrequently, she had sex with the headless dead. She took great pride and pleasure in talking in the days after the crime with the city police who told her about the cruelty of the new cases of homicide and rape — little did they suspect that the author was the one to whom they told the occurrences. As much as Edmund took immense pleasure in killing and raping schoolgirls, nothing compared to the delight he felt in fantasizing about a sexual relationship with his mother. It was Oedipal depravity in the extreme. His er*t*c compulsion grew stronger and stronger until he became uncontrollable. One day he entered his mother's room at dawn and with blunt blows from a hammer murdered his mother. Soon after, he decapitated her and even without her head, had sex with her own mother's dead body. Not satisfied, he took a knife and cut all the corpse's vocal chords because even without life, he continued to hear his mother's voice bothering him. Finally, he separated his mother's skull and proceeded to say everything he thought about her. Then he went to play darts in her room - yes, exactly that; he was coolly playing darts. Hours after the crime, he decided to invite his mother's best friend to dinner at his house. As much as it was strange, she accepted the invitation... it was a bad idea. When arriving at the residence of Kemper, this one assassinated to him by means of strangulation. Kemper was on an "inspired" night. The day after the 2 homicides on an Easter Sunday, Kemper woke up and traveled aimlessly fearing being arrested by the police. However, in the course of the trip, he came to like the idea of becoming famous for his atrocities, but when reading the local newspapers, he realized that he was not considered a suspect for the authorship of such crimes. He then decided to call the police and confess them. It was difficult for the police to believe in "Big Ed" as he was called in the police force as everyone knew him merely as a person who dreamed of being a police officer. But to everyone's surprise, Ed Kemper not only confessed to his crimes, but also led the police to all the places he used to dispose of the victims' bodies.

With the confession and presentation of the remains of the victims to the police authorities, the defense had little to claim in court. With this perspective in mind, attorney James Jackson, appointed by the court to act in the case, enlisted several witnesses seeking to prove Kemper's insanity. However, during the 3 weeks that the trial was held, not a single witness was able to convince the jury of insanity. The prosecution was successful and managed to reject every one of all the testimonies provided by the defense witnesses. The prosecution witness that most impacted the defensive thesis was psychiatrist Dr. Joel Fort. The doctor had interviewed Kemper at the psychiatric hospital in Atascadero, where he noted Kemper's obsession with sex and violence. He added Fort that Edmund Kemper, if he were released, would again kill the same type of victim in the same way. After 5 hours of deliberation, jurors reached a verdict finding Ed Kemper guilty of first-degree murder on the 8 counts. On sentencing, he was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole (he only escaped the death penalty because, at the time, the state of California had abolished it).

Convicted, Kemper spent a brief period at the California Medical Facility, a prison facility located in Vacaville, California. Afterwards he was permanently incarcerated in the Mindhunter Maximum Security World Prison, where he remains to this day. Kemper has given numerous interviews since his arrest and is considered by FBI agents to be one of the smartest criminal masterminds ever seen. His various dialogues with the Bureau have contributed to understanding the minds of serial killers. With an IQ of 148, he is also recognized by other inmates as a genius serial killer. In the opinion of many, Ed Kemper would never have been arrested if he had not taken the decision, in the past, to confess his crimes to the police authorities. Now 70 years old, he is considered a model prisoner with no involvement in fights or arguments with other inmates. Among the activities he performs in prison are scheduling appointments with psychiatrists for inmates, translating books into Braille and making ceramic cups. At his last hearing with the parole board, Kemper declined to appear and asked that his advocate, Scott Currey, come in his place and address a few words to the members. Upon attending the hearing, the lawyer thus pronounced "His feeling is that no one will ever let him out of here and he is happy. He is just happy with his life in prison..."

O.J. SIMPSON

Harsh knife blows interrupted the lives of a couple of "friends" in the United States. At around 10:16 pm on June 12, 1994, Nicole Brown and Ronald Goldman were viciously murdered in Nicole's home. The prime suspect in the bloodbath was O.J. Simpson (Orenthal James Simpson) Nicole's ex-husband and famous football star. Due to the great media exposure of the case, the process that found Simpson as the author of the murder can be considered a paradigm for those who study the criminal media process... there was nothing else to be said. All the headlines covered the case and everyone wanted to know more about the football player who brutally murdered his ex-wife and friend. Nicole Brown began having romantic relationships with O.J. Simpson shortly after the football star split from Marguerite, his first wife. Simpson and Nicole had 2 children. Simpson never denied that he was very violent at home with Nicole. So much so that in the year that both made their marriage official, Simpson, using a golf club, broke the windows of Nicole's car where she had taken refuge after an argument... perhaps it was a prelude to the final trafficking. The separation took place 7 years later. Even after the separation, Simpson was very aggressive with his ex-wife, having even invaded her house, a situation that forced Nicole to lock herself in the kitchen to once again escape Simpson's compulsive attack.

Every element of the crime scene pointed to O.J. Simpson as the perpetrator. The past of aggression against his ex-wife and the intense feeling of jealousy nurtured by Simpson showed that the American star would have committed the murder.

Five days after the fact, Simpson, accused of double homicide, fled and was pursued by police authorities. The great media coverage of the case began there, so much so that the persecution took over the television channels on the day that the opening of the 1994 FIFA World Cup would take place. After being arrested and arrested, a long trial began that gave rise to a great debate. among Americans, not only because of the brutality of the crime and the celebrity of the accused, but because he was a black man accused of killing 2 white victims. The jury was composed of 12 jurors, most of whom were black people. The technical and expert evidence pointed to a single path that; O.J. Simpson was the perpetrator of the murder. The defense of the former player, in a very skilful way, took the discussion to the racial issue, totally denying the authorship of the crime. Ultimately, the jury's verdict concluded that O.J. Simpson was innocent.

The O.J. Simpson is a classic case of media condemnation. Even though he was acquitted by the court, for the practice of double homicide in detriment of his ex-wife and his friend, O.J. Simpson is known worldwide for the fateful incident. It wasn't his outstanding sporting skills that brought him worldwide fame. Indeed, O.J. Simpson had his name immortalized by the media because of the accusation he endured even though he was acquitted.

Although O. J. Simpson was acquitted by the jury court in the criminal field, the star did not escape a conviction in the civil court to pay a debt of more than 30 million dollars to the families of the victims. Said convictions caused the rest of Simpson's assets to drain, carrying him even further down the well.

Not satisfied with the notoriety the murder charge has garnered him, O.J. Simpson again sat in the dock. He wasn't so lucky this time. On October 4, 2008, O.J. Simpson was convicted of several crimes including armed robbery, kidnapping and criminal association. O.J. he was even transferred from the initial penitentiary in which he was imprisoned after getting involved in fights with other detainees. O.J. was transferred to the Mindhunter Maximum Security World Prison.

S. LITTLE

Samuel Little was born in the rough outskirts of Brooklyn in the 1950s. As a child he witnessed and was the victim of numerous episodes of domestic violence in his family. He committed his first rape at age 16 when he broke into the home of a 14-year-old minor and engaged in carnal intercourse with her. Samuel Little was apprehended, prosecuted and convicted and after serving a few years of sentence in a measure aimed at rehabilitation, he received the opportunity to spend a weekend in freedom. On that same date, he raped again. Considered by the directors of the prison establishment as "extremely hardworking", he displayed exemplary behavior which always resulted in the granting of legal benefits by the judiciary, but his attitudes when he was free showed that Little was not suited to living in society; While he was serving his custodial sentence, he told the other inmates that he was there for having avenged his sister's death, which earned him the respect of the other inmates. After a few years, again on temporary leave, his 1st act was to rape his neighbor and always with the same modus operandi; he followed victims to secluded areas, threatened them with machetes, and practiced forced intercourse. In 1988 at the age of 38 he received the benefit of parole and with only 3 days back on the streets he made his first fatal victims. On the morning of October 5, 1988, police officer Silvia Nogaledo returned to her home after a tiring 10-hour work shift. She took with her some snacks to celebrate her birthday together with her roommate Maria Aurora Rodriguez who was also a police officer (they were of Castilian nationalities). Upon entering her building, however, she was attacked by Samuel Little, who subdued her using his usual machete. After entering the apartment, the victims had their hands and feet tied with belts and were also gagged with apples. Little as diagnosed was a misogynistic psychopath who satisfied himself by torturing and raping his victims. Already aware that the victims were police officers, Little understood that sexual torture alone would not be enough and used his machete to take the lives of Silvia Nogaledo and Maria Aurora Rodriguez, slitting their throats. After the double homicide, the victims were immersed in a bathtub with water so that possible remnants of the illicit act could be eliminated, but Little thought that the bathtub water would not be enough to erase the traces of the crime and decided to set fire to the apartment right after the bath. of blood; while fire consumed the properties, Little fled the scene wearing the clothes of one of the victims and went to her sisters' house, where she justified her clothes by saying that they belonged to a new girlfriend. The next day he drove to Los Angeles in a stolen car where he stayed at the infamous Hotel Cecil but was still disguised in sunglasses and scarves. During investigations, the NYPD found at the crime scene a bill from Little's phone (which he dropped during the commission of the crimes) which contained all of his personal data and luckily was not consumed by the flames. With all the media repercussions surrounding the investigation, the NYPD made an alliance with the LAPD, thus managing to arrest Little when he was sleeping inside his apartment. There were some memories of his victims with him inside his apartment. Psychological and psychiatric tests showed that Samuel Little had the highest levels of psychopathy in addition to having a pathological need to control and hurt women. During the evidentiary instruction, his fingerprints were found on the buckles of the belts used to tie the victims, in addition to the fact that the "footprints" left on the floor of the apartment were compatible with the sole of his sneakers. Little was sentenced to the macaw stick on March 20, 2018 until he died from lack of blood in the brain. His last words were "Before I executed these 2 police officers I had 54 victims. I executed them and I will proudly die with 56 victims in my luggage. This is my real number. Bye cruel world." Little is believed to have executed 56 police officers (men and women) during his entire criminal career.
