Eventually, he comes across Xie and things go just like one would expect. He turns into a barking dog making a lot of noise but nothing else. He thinks to have his own reasons to be mad at Xie and at least for now, he totally rejects the idea to trust him.

The sad story of Qi Xui.

QI Xui was born as the last daughter of the QI Clan Leader, in Fox's Burrows.
She was never a particularly strong person, neither mentally nor physically. She wasn't brave nor very smart or a good student, overall, a weak personality, a mediocre girl without big ambitions.
She was a good person, though, just someone who'd rather live a safe and peaceful life, than hunt monsters.

She attended a few lectures in other clans together with her siblings, including one in the Zimkesha Sect.
Life proceeded with high and lows, but overall well for her, until the year her Sect and Clan turned to the bad side. As her father, her family, started to do evil things, she didn't approve of them but she didn't oppose either. She didn't stand against them, she wws too scared to take position and even to leave her home. Where would she go, all alone? She wasn't the type other Sects would love to take in among theirs.

Things took a drastic turn a little over 1 year before the current date, when some good Sects attacked the YunQi, after their treason.
In that occasion, Xui didn't even try to fight, she hid and just hoped nobody would find her, but at the end of the battle she was of course found by the adepts of the Juku Sect.
At first there were debates among the sects that participated to the attack regarding what to do with her. Needless to say that many would have just killed her, but thanks to the intervention of the Ashiiha Sect.

In the end, she was spared but taken prisoner by the Juku Sect and they didn't go easy on her at all.
Regardless she was only 13 at the time, and didn't actually do anything bad herself, they had no mercy and tormented her for over an year, until the Ashiiha sect managed to convince them to hand her over to them.
She lived some peaceful months with them, but the scars left didn't manage to heal. She considered taking her life many times and even had some failed attempts before.

Her short time of peace ended when the sect of Ashiiha had to join the other smaller sects in the Eternal Abyss for safety, as the remnants of Juku Sects were there two, including some of the guys who abused her during her captivity in their sect.
She tried to avoid them, as much as she tried to avoid WuNing, whom she knows was cursed and betrayed by her older sister Cai, but the Juku guys didn't miss the chance to mock and bully her.
That unbearable situation pushed all her suicidal thoughts back to her. The only thing that made her a bit hesitant was that with herself gone, her whole sect would be too, lost forever.

That's where she got the idea of the Sacrifice Curse, that she studied during the lectures in Zimkesha Sect. If she can get the soul of an ancestor to replace hers, she will be able to rest peacefully in the afterlife, without a big regret.
As all eastern are fond of their ancestors, she had to study her family tree and there she came across the name of Qi XuanYu, known as one of the most prideful and worthy clan leaders the QI ever had, plus a cultivator of excellent skills. Someone like him would surely know how to save the, pretty much dead, sect and bring it to new life, plus, what would save those people.who hurt her from him?

She didn't hesitate the slightest. She just had to try the ritual a few times before making it successful.
In the hurry to leave the world of the living, Xui failed to tell XuanYu about the people she wanted to take revenge over, but the curse left the marks for it nonetheless.

An helping heart.

Surprisingly, while being sat in the garden of his manor, he receives an unexpected letter.
WonPil, whom he considers quite close regardless they aren't related and he doesn't visit often, needs to ask him for a favour.
He feels kind of thrilled by this; he very rarely gets the chance to feel useful and being able to help WonPil would definitely boost his mood a little.

He promptly replies to him, saying that he will gladly meet, the next day, in his home, so that they can discuss privately about the favour WonPil needs to ask.

Abdication.

* TianSi and Zhou SongJin are related as third cousins.

After the unexpected death of his brother, right before he'd be appointed General, SongJin turned a little vengeful. He thought it could only be General Yung and Khan's doing, preventing the Emperor from doing what he long promised to the Zhou. Who could think it was his future grandchildren coming from the future to save the reputation of the family?

Prisoner for life.

Despite living in one of the most luxurious places in the world, despite the power and influence he can still have, Tian can never stop feeling restless. Nothing manages to satisfy him, he can't feel alive.
As if his condition wasn't miserable enough, Choi comes to visit him in his quarters with a request, or better, to merely share a decision he had already taken: since a son of Tian would have more birthright than Choi to rule as Emperor, since the risk is too big and could cause serious troubles to the Nation, he must lose his ability to have children.
It may seem otherwise, but Choi only took such decision in order to ensure Tian's safety. Many, within the court, have often proposed to end his life to protect the throne from such threat. The Morning Sun realized that had he not acted to save his grandfather, for how unpleasant it would be for him, someone would have killed him eventually, whether he approved it or not.

Tian seriously can't handle such thing and, before the Imperial Doctor arrived, he tries to kill himself by using poison.
Needless to say, his action upset Choi beyond measure, but he still gave the order to the doctor to proceed with sterilization, after making sure he would survive naturally.

When Tian wakes up, he feels like the Gods themselves are mocking him. He has no power over his life, he can't even decide to die. Now, more than ever, he feels like a prisoner and he has been, for his whole existence. First of his father, then of the Generals and now of his grandson. That is the only way he manages to see it, even though Choi only wishes his good.

It is late night and he can't sleep. He has quite some big issues sleeping, overall. He is lied on his bed, staring at the portraits of the three Empresses he was married to. They all are dead, as well as the children he had with them. Three Crown Princes died before they were 6, two Princesses died in adult age.
He stops to look at the late Empress Pyonsuk, his last wife and also the youngest of the three. He really had a special feeling for her, despite she too died too soon. «How could you abandon me like that...» he murmurs, with tears in eyes. She had killed herself shortly after the death of their newborn child.
Before killing herself she went to visit him in his room. He was in a miserable state, not having taken the death of the nth Prince so well and being full of drugs. He has such pale memories of that moment, but something suddenly comes to his mind: she put her fan in his hand and whispered "Northern Palace" to his ear, before leaving.
He jumps up and decides to go to the northern palace, the residence of the Empress, to see if he can find the fan and the meaning of her message.
Followed by the eyes of every Palace Guard, the Evening Sun walks through the many gates separating his quarters from those of the Empress, which are of course empty and have been such since the death of his last wife.

The palace is clean and perfect, despite it has been uninhabited for almost twenty years. It is even lit.
Tian starts to look around and finds the fan almost right away. He opens it and notices that there are two words: right side. He looks to the right wall and the only thing of interest there is a bookshelf. He approached it and looks at the books. He knows there are many eyes on him, if he starts to frantically check every book they will find it weird and get some suspects that will be referred to Choi.
'It has to be a book I would guess, bit that would be of no interest for the Generals' — he thinks. And finally it comes to his mind: the small poetry book she had with her the first night he visited her. The one he read for her to reassure her.
He takes it from the shelf. There is something inside, pretty heavy. He doesn't open the book, though it brings such painful memories he collapses on the floor amd bursts in tears.
Hours later, he heads back to his palace, still upset, and orders his servants to not disturb him. He lies in bed and covets himself with a blanket, keeping the book hidden under it, so that npbofu will notice. Only when sure to be well covered, he finally opens it. The pages were digged to contain a big necklace, round, metallic and are of several movable layers.
On a page, he also finds the name of their son: Jaenjo Vi.
