He is very troubled and feels defeated, like WuXing was right. In the end, all his efforts brought nowhere.
He notices he is being monitored, they have all the reasons since he was a spy, but he doesn't like it. As soon as he gets the chance, he leaves the city and calls Xakas. He mounts the dragon regardless not being in condition to.
They fly around for a bir till they spot a strange place. He can see there are many undeads but he can't help but wonder if there is anything valuable in that fortress. He doubts there might be someone alive inside.
Xakas lands on top and Yan carefully dismounts, looking around.

He is at home, drinking alcohol. He went overboard already a few glasses before and is still drinking.
He heads outside, looking towards the sea. He is not fine, he is full of sorrow inside, he is far from family, no friends, he suffers the situation a lot.
He is so stunned he thinks he is imagining the strange rain starting. He rubs his eyes and gets suddenly hit by a smaller piece of burning rock, that still hurts him badly.
He tries to avoid the rain, he runs away from the wooden house but gets crushed by a heavy plank. It is Xakas to save him. In the process, he manages to spot someone. Probably the one behind it all...
He takes Yan away and begins to fly away, getting hit himself in the process. Luckily they are incredibly fast and get away from there in time. Xakas and his little group of windriders.
Yan is hurt and half drunk, still. "Xakas! Hou! South...fly south..." He tells his dragon before to pass out. Remaining in the islands would be too dangerous and would endanger countless people. The south, instead, would he be easily found there? Would he expect he'd take that decision? Might be risky and not the best choice, but he is not fully on his best shape either.


Days later, in Lianxi, they can hear loud roars from outside the diamond barrier as to drag attention.

He reported to the king everything he discovered in Lianxi and Wutian. He was very pleased with his work, rewarded him and sent him home to have proper rest for a few days. He had to tell him about HuoShi being there, but avoided completely mentioning Flesh and WuXing.
He gave his hostages a comfortable room. The bed is in chinese style, large enough for both. WuXing could have heard a bit of fuss, Flesh went to join him in bed very late.

The morning after, Yan is lied outside on a deckchair. It is not warm enough to wash in general, but today there is a bit of sun, making it pleasant to lie under its light. He is in comfortable clothes, mostly white and blue colours.

It was a shock to him to find Flesh, alive, but in that kind of situation where he could have easily died. It awakened something in him, reminding him of the old times, with Hanxi, the psycho boyfriend that came after him.

He remains in Flesh house without even asking for permission. "Come away with me."
"My life is here now, Yan..."
"Every passing moment you spend without me, you are risking your life!" Yan grabs his wrist. "I can protect you."
Flesh breaks free from his grip. "Don't bring up the past...I won't be making the same mistakes again."
Yan stares at Flesh, far from convinced due to all the times he forgave Hanxi in the past. "I am not leaving without you."
"Don't leave, it is not bad to live here." But clearly not what the other meant.
"Zhao!"
He needs to go back in any case, he does his all to convince Flesh to leave, even causing an argument. Nothing seems to convince him, so he forces him.
There is quite a fuss due to Xakas making his appearance on the stone walls literally out of nowhere, as if he had always been there. Yan drags Flesh, the dragon gets close and lowers his head to let them mount. Flesh continues to struggle but freezes at the sight of the dragon, panicked. "Leave me, Yan! I'm not going!"
Nothing works to stop Yan from taking him away on his dragon.

He lives on a small islands not distant from some other of the realm. That place in particular, is house to a family of dragon of the same kind, like Xakas himself - very similar shape, a bit of size difference between males and females, various shades of blue - , and another kind of pacific serpentine water - light blue shapes and rather small -. They live in balance with Yan even if his only official dragon is Xakas, that is also the biggest of them. Xakas' kind are Windriders, the others are Tenshin. Both races tend to live in groups.
He manages to communicate with dragons, thanks to the ancient dolashin he learnt by himself thanks to his element, Knowledge. He knows several words, not the whole language.
