愴史竹

Some clarifications about a few misconceptions about the Eastern Empire (pre-civil war).

-Nobles were the real scum. Abusive,  repressive, greedy,  spoiled, heartless, skilless, misogynist and selfish.

-Middle-Class and farmers were nothing but victims of this elitist system.
They were exploited to the bone, forced to pay huge fees and taxes to nobles under the threat of Assassins being sent against them and their families.

-Nobles' strength was based on 2 factors: The Emperor supported them, thus they could count of legal privileges of any sort and the protection of military forces.
They had the right to require Assassins' interventions against whoever displeased them.

-Fear ruled, weak people were weakened while nobles became richer like parasites, on their struggles. Except from male nobles, no one had an advantage of the situation, everyone suffered.

-The horrible treatments reserved to women were exclusive of the nobles.
Middle-Class and below, by paradox, were much more civilized towards their women.

-Poor people did not sell their daughters.
When they did not manage to pay their exploiters, the girls were taken away from the family with force, to "repay the debt".

-Nobles vision of a perfect eastern wife: submitted sex slave.

-Middle-Class and below, vision of a perfect eastern wife: a "mother" to take care of the man and support him, advice him and guide him.

-The Emperor was the owner of all brothels. Those chosen to direct each were jist his employees.

-The Empress was nothing more than the wife of the Emperor. She had no power nor right.

-Most of the soldiers joined the army to not stave. Starvation and suicide were the two top causes of death in the East.

-Nobles were (still are) hated like plague by other people, but with the Emperor backing them, they could stand no chance to survive a revolution. That why the civil war could occur only during a period with no ruler on the throne.

-Not even Sao is even close to how bad, cruel and sick most other nobles were.

-Clans of the wilds hate nobles to the point they eat them, literally, if they caught them in their territories.

-Priests could not go in support of the people in need, the High Priests could not allow to send them to sure death.

-Noble girls were only given away in combined marriages that could bring advantage to their fathers.

-Middle-Class and below girls married out of love and free will, upon parents' blessings too.

-A very small number of nobles were decent and against the system, despite it advantaged them the way it was. (Xiu's father, Shushu's father and Sao are 3 of the 5.)

-Nobles were above the law.

-The servants of the Royal Palace were all nobles. Secondborn sons and less despised daughters. Being a servant of the Emperor was the dream job of every eastern as it granted safety, wellness and even a taste of luxury.

After the victory that put an end to the "old East", the Northern are indeed welcomed to come to the Royal Palace, to clean themselves, receive their healing and rest until the ceremony of the next day, in which, Choi of course wants them all to be present.

Jackil though, refused to go to stay there and claimed to be hosted by Khai Ming. He wants his daughter? He best be very convincing during the time he will spend in there. (He sure was expecting some normal Eastern house, at most in village, surely not a hut on a tree in the Wildlands). But it definitely tells him something about what kind of person Khai actually is.

Sao of course, went back to his main, real home with his wife and spent night and day with her. He too learnt something about Shushu, and he is pretty pleased of what kind of wife she is and to have decided to marry her. She is definitely the right one for him.

Richard and his sons are so hyped, they are probably making more noise than the Eastern soldiers celebrating, it's as if it was the coolest thing they've ever done in their life...and well, it's not far from the truth.
Benjamin, not to offend, after speaking with Choi returns to the North, saying he has to return to his wife and that they both will return the next day for the celebration.
Johnny and his wife return to the North as well, wanting to take their son back and they too intending to go to the ceremony the next day. It's a great day for Shi as well after all.
Edward returned to the North without a single word, but he will come back too, he can't miss, sadly for him.

Gregori doesn't need Choi to insist, he rushes to the Royal Palace and intends to enjoy every second there. He will eat like 150 pigs.

Desmond goes back to the North to hopefully never return. He couldn't care less about the coronation of the Eastern Emperor.

Dominic, well, some concubines found him cute enough to cuddle. XDDD

Xiong, after the bitterness left by seeing Xhoujing in Lian's arms, just leaves to go wander somewhere far from his old village and anywhere he could meet her again. He has basically nothing left to live for, not even his village.

殘酷的證明

Their first battle in Chi Feng's squad doesn't late to arrive, just, it is not what they were expecting.
Khai was told by Sao, but he didn't have the time to speak with Chi of this, due to the fact he is currently fighting hard with So's squad against the Tai's and Leung's men who attacked their camp in a double assault.

Choi feels ready, in truth, he was feeling worse tension before the start than when the fight actually begun.
He is mainly fighting with his katana, even though he is also carrying two smaller jian swords with him, which are definitely his favorite weapons choice, which he is leaving for when they will cut the enemies' numbers.
