Berek is a warrior of the Horse Tribe, a collective community of homesteads and small nomadic villages that inhabit the far-reaching grasslands. All warriors are born in the saddle of a horse and are given a colt at a very young age. The Horse Tribe breed, raise and trade the finest horses in the land.

Berek is rides a dark bay stallion and carries a spear. Tied to his saddle is a shield and quiver of arrows with a shortbow. On his hip is a longsword, at all times. He is far away from his home after being called by the High Chieftan to battle and is now making his way home.

Alexandra is strong woman of Romanian descent, her grandparents being some of the original American immigrants. Her family is based in New York where she works as a detective for the NYPD. She wears a protective amulet about her neck, a gift from her mother and it has paid off. In her last year on the force, she has had her eyes opened to the dark underworld where a war is being waged just under the surface of what most people see of New York. She has become skilled in minor magics and occult knowledge. She is aided by her mother's necklace which creates a magical protective shield around herself in the most dire need and her off and on again detective partner, Andrew Dalton who still remains oblivious to the things that go bump in the night.
