Adeline Belasco never knew either of her parents. Her mother was a heroin addict, and left as soon as she was born, but her father raised her as best he could. Until, however, he was shot when she was only three years old. Adeline lived with her Uncle after that, but she always felt like a burden on the already struggling man. His wife and two kids were warm and welcoming, but an extra mouth to feed was never easy, even if she was family. By the time she was fifteen, Adeline felt like she out-stayed her welcome. Twelve years of food, clothes, and shelter were enough. She wasn’t going to be reliant on them, or anyone else for that matter, any more. After running away, it wasn’t hard finding work. In her neighbourhood, it wasn’t exactly difficult to find a dealer. Even as a young girl, she knew she had looks that could kill. It was easy to convince one of them to introduce her to their boss, and even easier to get hired. Drug dealing wasn’t the ideal career path, but it got the job done. Getting someone to rent to a kid, however, was a whole other problem. That was when Tara Ezekiel came into her life.
Adeline walked into The King’s Head looking for a good meal after a night staying in the park. Tara wasn’t stupid and could tell the girl had been living on the streets. So, she offered her a room in the apartment above the pub. Adeline declined immediately. She didn’t leave her family to just be a burden on someone else, but Tara wouldn’t take no for an answer. Eventually they came to an agreement that Adeline would work for rent, Tara not wanting any of her money. It was a deal Adeline could live with. And though she’d never admit it to anyone other than Tara, she was eternally grateful, knowing she wouldn’t have been able to last much longer without a roof over her head. Adeline never took the mob family she was working for seriously, but with Illyria being burnt to the ground, she knows things were about to get very serious and very dangerous. She wasn’t sure she’d be able to handle it all. Thankfully, The King’s Head was a safe space away from the mob wars. Adeline needed it, because she knew there was no way she’d be able to get out now.
