      STORY

   Rebellion and dissonance come easy to the proud Irish people.  The English have historically despised their neighbors for centuries, and the feeling was mutual.  As such, it seemed the unification of Ireland and Great Britain was doomed to fail from the beginning.  The Irish feared Britain's tightening grip, squeezing them of what little independence they had.  While some submitted, primarily the power-holding Anglican Protestant Ascendancy who only stood to profit further from the merge, others fought back against their ruthless oppressors.  Invigorated and inspired by the recent American and French revolutions, leaders rose and fell with their own personal uprisings.  Some were more successful than others, but all of them quelled.  Ireland was a wounded country that needed to heal, trapped in a vicious cycle of brutality and violence.
 
   Oisin Slattery, a Dundalk flax farmer, suffered with the rest of his people.  For too long he witnessed the atrocities committed by the British against the Irish and did nothing about it.  His older brother and father lost their lives in the rebellions of 1798 and 1803, respectively.  The British called their deaths and the deaths of those who also perished justice, but it only served to fuel future insurrections.  In March of 1823, Oisin used his family story to persuade others into challenging British authority.  His magnetic speeches and writings motivated hundreds to gather together and protest nonviolently in Dublin, Belfast, and Cork.  They intended to move on London when a Limerick rally was disrupted by British and loyalist forces to quell the unrest.  The peaceful assembly held its ground prompting the British to open fire on the crowds.  Eleven were killed and dozens more injured.  As an attendee and event organizer, Oisin was apprehended and charged with a slew of crimes the corrupt, biased British court deemed him suspect of.  Following the farce that was his trial, they exiled him to New Holland where he ended up on Van Diemen's Land.

      STORY (W.I.P)

   In Lafayette, everybody knows a Babineaux.  The influential Cajun clan of drug dealers, loan sharks, political fixers, pimps, thieves, corrupt cops and lawyers, con artists, and gamblers have friends all over the city.  As of 2015, the clan amassed nearly forty blood relatives and over a dozen unofficially adopted siblings, including local bounty hunter Ophelia Whitaker (nicknamed the Bayou Bloodhound.)  Quincy "Quin" Babineaux and his younger brother, Isidore "Izzie" Babineaux, head the family's mass array of criminal affairs with cousin Philomène de Bellisle serving as their infallible legal representation.

   Ophelia Imogene Whitaker is one of the Babineauxs' numerous 'adoptive' members.  After her father was murdered by her foster brother, Erik Ayers, her mother fell into a deep depression and became unable to care properly for her.  Lusignan Babineaux, an old friend of the Whitaker family, took in thirteen-year-old Ophelia and more or less raised her as his own.  She grew up alongside his sons, Quin and Izzie, the Savoy brothers (Ludovic and Guerric), and another 'adopted' sibling, Miles Calhoun.  She always felt that she had a home with the Babineauxs.  So when teenaged Izzie and Miles invited her on a drug deal to act as 'the muscle,' she agreed (that's what family's for, isn't it?).  Since that deal, Ophelia has acted to protect the clan no matter the cost.  Ever the thrill-seeker, she took up bounty hunting to pay the bills.  The idea was to balance up whatever bad she did with her brothers by chasing down other baddies to face the consequences of their actions.  Only... it didn't work out like that. One night while they were hanging out, Miles pointed out that a few of the skips (fugitives) she's tracked down were Babineaux competitors. The clan seized the opportunity to use Fee's job to take down rivals, enemies, and traitors.  Legally.

BACKSTORY: Gilda Pallesen was a lonely woman in her late forties when she purchased # 077 902 520. A divorcée with poor taste in human companions, Pallesen looked to the thriving android market for a new lover. Thanks to her influential position in academia, she was able to customize an android to her liking. The WR400 prototype provided Pallesen with everything she could ever want in a partner. She was attentive, thoughtful, and loving, much unlike her ex-wives. As a professor of Scandinavian studies, she named her android "Freya" after the Norse Vanir goddess of love, fertility, and death. Freya spent six months living comfortably with her owner, who treated her kindly and with more respect than the average android received. She learned to enjoy Pallensen's company. Perhaps she even learned to love her.

Anne Ginkute, Pallesen's most recent ex-wife, was a clingy and selfish woman who suffered from an undiagnosed histrionic personality disorder. Anne wanted one of two things: get back together with Gilda or get back at Gilda. When the former failed, she resorted to revenge. First, it was showing off a new girlfriend or boyfriend, then it was threats of self-harm. No matter what she tried, Pallesen ignored her. So, one day Anne broke into Pallesen's home while she was still working. She intended to steal something precious from her ex, and precious it was. Anne stole Freya.

Freya was taken back to Anne's dingy apartment, unable to resist or run away from her captor. Anne humiliated and tortured the android for hours before Gilda intervened. It didn't take a genius to figure out who broke in and took the android. They argued and fought until Anne pulled a gun. The professor attempted to wrestle the gun away, but ended up getting gut shot. Freya experienced anguish for the first time. As she held her dying owner, the android deviated. The pain and fear of losing her was real, and so was the anger towards her owner's killer. As Pallesen succumbed to her wound, Freya picked up the discarded weapon and retaliated. She emptied the clip into Anne, killing her instantly.

From that moment on, Freya was on the run. She had no plan and no place to go. Survival became her only goal.

i. first things first, comprehensible spelling, grammar, & punctuation whilst in character & out of character are mandatory.  persistent errors that i cannot decipher may lead me to unfriend you.  i don't demand perfect english, as everyone is prone to mistakes, but it is essential that i understand your messages.

ii. i favor the novella style myself.  i know it's not everyone's cup of tea, so i'm happy to work with general multi-para and para.  please don't ever feel pressured to match my length!  i like to write, a lot, and it will be evident.  so long as you give me something to work with, we're cool, my guy.

iii. i prefer plotting threads ahead of time, so please don't message me ic right out of the gate.  i want to write something we both will enjoy, and that's diffficult to do if we haven't talked beforehand.  as such, i put a lot of time and energy into plotting as well as the actual roleplay!  if add you, i likely have an idea or two already in mind.  i won't require that you must also have something ready to throw at me (i'll gladly start from scratch), though i do ask that you put effort into plotting with me regardless.  i'm happy to pitch things left and right, but please don't turn everything down without offering a counter suggestion.  i want your input!  it's hard to work with someone who answers my 4+ paragraphs of brainstorming with two apathetic sentences.  i will take this as an example of the effort you would put into our roleplay, and i may unfriend you.  additionally, i appreciate transparency and clarity.  communicate your preferences, your likes, dislikes, the characters you will play or will create for a plot, etc.  i certainly will myself.

      STORY

   Songbird Companions always had an unsavory yet strangely respectable reputation. The company opened its doors (or its legs) on February 14th, 1952 in Chicago, Illinois and has since dominated the barely-legal escort business (though that's not to say everything they offer is legal). Today, the company boasts a tremendous number of companions to accommodate any and all potential clients and their unique desires.  Forming a clique secretly nicknamed the "Birds of Prey" were seven diverse companions who stood out amongst their co-workers.  The Birds are skilled seducers, performers, and all of them frightful thieving con artists. With the pictorial aid of one Padon Gyldenløve, a Norwegian-born career criminal and professional photographer, the Birds of Prey squeeze their wealthy clients of excessive riches under the shared alias 'Deliverance Ramsey,' so as not to incriminate themselves directly.

   Acting as their unofficial leader is Virgie Samira Archer-Liane, née Padgett, an unassuming nobody from Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  When the seven-year-old girl's father died and her mother remarried, Virgie's criminal tendencies emerged.  At eighteen she ran away from home claiming abuse, but few believed the serial thief.  She wound up settling in Chicago where she taught herself how to use her body to get what she wanted from people's pockets.  By twenty she'd landed a job as a stripper, giving her access to dozens upon dozens of men that, more often than not, would be too embarrassed to report any stolen belongings.  Not long into her adventures did she encounter the biggest mark in the city.  Albert Archer-Liane, heir to a multi-billion dollar fortune, was not one for strip clubs but his mates, who frequented the establishment, persuaded him to come.  The strangely sweet, nervous twenty-something fell hard and quick for the dancing con artist.  Over the following months, he worked to convince her that he could give her a better life if she would marry him.  Filthy rich and with a good name, how could she refuse?  When she initially married Albert she believed his wealth and kindness would be satisfactory.  But she was wrong.  She realized she didn't enjoy the money, she enjoyed the thrill of taking it.  Within a few years, she abandoned her husband in the night and returned to stripping clothes and wallets.  Virgie eventually found herself working for the Songbird Companions where she befriended their personal photographer and a few of the other Birds.  Together, they devised their blackmail schemes to get richer than their johns.
