"And it was about what WonPil lived through? It was so bad you can't talk about it?" He looks at Lani, narrowing his eyes. In truth, he cannot help but miss them all...he is getting emotional again.
He is shocked to hear HaoLin speak that way. "What the hell, HaoLin? What he has been trying to do with you?" Seen the situation and who Lani is, he guesses helping.
"Stop! Let us ask some questions!"

He himself is quite shocked by HaoLin's behaviour.

HaoLin. «I have already told them I'm not going to live with them, they have to stop bothering me! They tried to force me to stay, but they can't!» He escaped.
He stops walking. «What questions? Who the hell are you, even?» And it's not that he doesn't remember, he doesn't know. Which could be a second hint. The first being Shiinden totally empty.

Oold "You don't want to." Qi is pretty sure of it. "Poor LanJi, he would have suffered like a dog if TiShan left him.
Hopefully he is with us or YunFei. He doesn't strike me as someone who can handle difficult things alone, no one of them."

LaNii To cut things short:
- HaoLin indeed knows Lani and Qi.
- Lani asks him about his tails and he says that he cut them.
- TiShan became the leader of a criminal organisation, that mostly gets paid by rich and powerful to scare and subdue their enemies. The crown itself backs said organisation up.
- TiShan indeed broke up with LanJi, cut contacts with all friends and even family.
- The twins were never born.
- HaoLin was never in Hogwarts.
- Shiinden school doesn't exist.
- ShiHao killed WonPil.
- TiShan killed ShiHao. His body was never found.
- HaoLin is a vagabond, addicted to alcohol. Occasionally sells his body to get the money to buy liquors.
- HaoLin refused to stay with TiShan and with anyone else who tried to help him. If forced to go to someone's home, he would just find a way to escape.

When they return, the investigation doesn't take long to find out who was it to use the Book of IFs. It was actually a new Knight of the House of Raven. He asked it 'what if the Knights didn't exist' and WonPil's death was simply a consequence to the fact he was not a Knight and therefore had no means to escape ShiHao.
