Quark Family System. Polygamous

For the Quark species, females tend to be rare. On average there would be 1 girl in every 5 babies, with the rest boys. So there's often not enough females to keep the population steady. Lots of wars are rooted in that.

The species is polygamous out of necessity. Often enough, one female would have on average 5 male husbands. In the system, there's a large estate where the husbands live in their own homes all built around the edge of the estate. And the female tends to live in the very centre in her own home. So if you'll look at it, there's this circle of homes with one in the middle.

The selective advantage is that the males are supposed to provide protection against any outside attackers who are searching to snatch the female. And building homes around the female creates a physical barrier. Also, males sharing one female would guarantee that their lineage would carry on since the females would mate would each one of them at least once. They can't afford to be picky because there aren't many to choose from

In this relationship, the males work like normal, in whatever job they prefer. The system is that each one of the husbands provides a small portion of their money to the one female. Yes, females also tend to work as well and male and female workers tend to have relatively equal pay at the workforce. This just means that the female tends to be the richer, with both her own salary and the small sums the husbands provide. Hence the centre home, the female's is always the biggest and most decorated.

In trade for a portion of the husband's salary, the female would provide sexual satisfaction. Sometimes a timetable would be set up where the female would arrange a day to be with each husband so they'll all get her attention equally. Threesomes and orgies are special events privately arranged.


When a female is pregnant, they could instinctively tell who the dad is and the gender of the child. If a boy, the female tends to take care of the young child, at least up to being a toddler. Then the toddler would live with his dad. If the baby's a girl however, the female tends to keep who's the father of the child a secret. Instead, each one of the husbands equally pitches in to take care of the very rare girl. The mother keeps the female child in her home to raise her up to adulthood.

So while males know who their mom and dad are, the females just know who's their mom than the mom's 5 husbands who all help.

The family unit consists of 1 wife, 5 husbands, five sons and 1-2 daughters. On average.
