“Will it hurt?” He asked, tilting his head up to the ceiling.
“Not at all, my dear.” She whispered softly in his ear, her lips gently caressing his skin.
A lie.
One so sweet, it made his teeth ache. He wasn’t sure if it was a shiver of pleasure or agony that shot through his bones. The fire that coursed through felt inviting. As he was rested against the cold stone floors, the burn turned to bliss then agony once more as he gasped for air.
As his screams and thrashes dominated the silence of the grand hall, he caught the sight of her sharp red eyes staring back at him through the darkness. Something burned behind those rubies in the night…

Behind that charming man lies a snake ready to strike any chance he is given permission to. Too bad he was never taught not to play with his food.

Silas wasn’t born cruel. In fact, his childhood was rather happy. His mother was an artist, who spent most of her days painting whatever park she brought him to that day. His father was a teacher, and taught Silas how to read and write at an early age. His life was good, sweet and normal.
Until she came.
He must have been around 10 when he first met Lady Lovegarden. She owned the land their family lived on, and while she typically sent one of her servants to fetch their monthly rent, this time she decided to pay a visit. Silas was struck by her beauty, her dark curls illuminated by the lantern light, but found her solitary nighttime visit peculiar.
The next time he saw her, he had just turned 16. He was growing into a man and she had taken notice. Once more she paid a visit to their home, but this time she would not leave alone.
Silas hadn’t recognized what happened until it was over, and a splatter of blood whipped across his face. His mothers body laid limp across the dinner table, her eyes flat and unresponsive. His father wasn’t so lucky, and flailed as he grabbed his neck to try and stop the bleeding. It was useless.
Lady Lovegarden gave him a choice.
Live with her, and become one of her servants when he becomes of age, or join his parents.
He chose wrong.

Backstory:
Lorena and Novaren spent their entire lives under the care of The Witch, never knowing who their parents were. The Witch, an elderly and abusive woman, trained them from a tender age to serve as her perfect guard dogs. She relied on them for hunting and sometimes even coerced them into luring victims back to her cabin. Lorena, being the favorite of The Witch, suffered disproportionately harsh punishments for any mistakes she made. The Witch's abusive behavior towards Lorena and Novaren manifested in various forms, including physical violence and psychological manipulation.
One day, the pressure and torment became too much for Lorena to bear. She reached her breaking point and, driven by desperation and a longing for freedom, she finally snapped and killed The Witch. The duo buried her body underneath a wilting willow.
Now free, Lorena and Novaren spend their days in the cabin where they were raised. Despite the horrors that occurred within those walls, they couldn't bring themselves to leave. Secluded yet content, they continue to live off the land, with the cold and unforgiving forest serving as their new protectors. Perhaps one day they will leave and seek true happiness elsewhere, but for now, they do what they know best: Hunt.

However, his parents, Rosalina and Tallon, were truly in love, and for a few years, they made it work. That was until one night when his father never returned home. His mother, pregnant with Valen’s younger sister, spiraled into a fit of depression and did not survive Linda's birth. The day his mother died, Valen and Linda were found by a knight of the kingsguard.
The two siblings were taken to Mrs. York’s Home for Children, and Linda was quickly adopted by a middle-class family, while Valen was left behind. He spent his years in the orphanage, surprisingly spared from bullying due to his towering stature. When he finally aged out, he quickly admitted himself into a knight’s training camp. After nearly eight years, he was granted knighthood. Rather than choosing to join the king’s guard, he decided to take his chances as a bodyguard for royals, hoping to prevent the deaths of women like his mother.
