SYNOPSIS.
crossroad demons are lower demons that are responsible for making deals with humans. they are named after the crossroads at which their pacts are often created and characterized by their red eyes. while the deals are seen as beneficial to humans, the benefits are always temporary as the deals are made at the price of the human’s soul - guaranteeing their place in hell.
they can be summoned by burying a box containing graveyard dirt and a bone from a black cat in the centre of a crossroad. however, some crossroad demons may choose to actively seek out those that are desperate enough to make a deal.
crossroad demons are incredibly skilled at manipulation, toying with people’s emotions such as greed and anger with ease. they are excellent with words and encounters often end with a pact being made.
these demons have the ability of demonic possession and prefer to inhabit hosts with alluring attractiveness, most tending to possess females. their true form is in that of black smoke, though it is unlikely to encounter a crossroad demon as such.
the nature of their deals depends on both the demon and the human. while demons will always expect a soul in return, humans can request anything, so long that it exists in the realm of reality. however, standard deals can only last ten years; this can be increased if the demon proposes adjustments to their contract. occasionally, this means forcing the human to serve the demon in exchange for keeping their hellhounds from dragging their soul to hell. this does mean an existence of living forever, but this does not make the human more powerful than they were during their past existence. demons may also force humans that wish to extend the contract to send their way more people that they may strike deals with.

ABILITIES.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀DEMONIC POSSESSION — like all demons, they require vessels in order to walk the earth.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀SUPERHUMAN STRENGTH — crossroad demons are stronger than humans, most monsters, and lower ranking demons.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀REALITY WARPING — this is the crossroad demon’s main power. they are able to manipulate reality in order to make the wishes of the mortal it deals with come true. however, they are only able to use this in the case of a deal. such examples of warping reality includes resurrection, healing, manipulating luck, and transformations.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀TELEPORTATION — this is often used when creating deals and collecting their side of them.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀IMMORTALITY AND INVULNERABILITY — as demons, they are able to live forever unless killed by one of their few weaknesses. they are also invulnerable to most forms of harm, despite using a human host.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀INHUMAN STAMINA — they do not require food, water, sleep or oxygen to sustain themselves. however, they can choose to do so without any negative impact.

WEAKNESSES.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀HOLY WATER — holy water will scald a demon’s skin and cause scarring, which is permanent and therefore is transferred from host to host when switching.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀DEVIL’S TRAP — a type of sigil trap that is able to trap a demon indefinitely. crossroad demons can walk into these, but cannot escape once inside. all powers are rendered useless within the circle, and they cannot break the circle once inside. however, in order to work, the circle and its sigils must be drawn perfectly. any imperfections, no matter how minor, will allow the demon to escape - the time being taken to do so depending on the severity of the mistake.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀HIGHER DEMONS — higher demons such as princes of hell, or even those a rank above crossroad demons, can overpower them with ease.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ANGELS AND ANGEL BLADES — angels and weapons blessed by angels or high ranking members of the church can overpower and kill crossroad demons.
