Character backstory: Growing up, it was clear that Harper appeared more feminine to his peers. It seemed a common occurrence for Harper to find himself being called a ‘she’ more often than was normal and with the occasional teasing along with it. Instead of rejecting his feminine appearance, he learned to embrace it, getting his ears pierces along with dying his hair. Though it helped that his older brother was there to teach him how to deal with those who decided to take things way too far. Despite his slightly girly exterior, he was a typical troublemaker in his 20’s and found himself a part of a gang by the time he turned 21.

More Detailed Backstory:
Mercy was born in a wealthy family and provided everything she could ever hope to have. At a young age, she quickly found that she didn't connect with all the proper young ladies around her age. Instead, Mercy preferred the outdoors and rough-housing with her older brothers. Growing up around boys, Mercy would learn quickly about evasion and quick reflexes as well as learning how to deal with pain. Her brothers had taught her how to be resilient and hold her own which had to come in handy with her big mouth. 

Mercy likes to speak her mind and has no trouble letting someone know about it. This usually ends up with her getting into some troubling situations, leaving her black and blue. She found work through a friend as a tavern waitress, refusing to dress as the noble lady her parents made her up to be. She obliged them, learning how to be a proper lady only to sneak out in secret in casual "pauper" clothing. Most knew she was wealthy but she acted so out of character from what one would associate with her noble family that many looked past this. Many would get addicted to her sarcastic banter and boyish charm, it would help that many found her strangely attractive with her unique personality. Girls her own age liked to follow her around to watch her talk sense into men whom were baffled by her lack of traditional norm. 

Mercy herself had never been too keen on her appearance; baby blue eyes with brownish gold hair, freckles lightly dotting her nose. She had always been fit with all the exercise her brothers kept her in though this would all be lower body strength. Bordering on average and pretty, Mercy steered clear of makeup of any sort. Her mother had tried to get her to see the attention it brought her but Mercy had never been the type to crave the attention of a man. 

Being a noble woman in a time where women's only primary task was to care for the home, her parents repeatedly set up marriage meetings for Mercy to attend and find a husband. Mercy refused them all either by not showing up or turning them off with her stubborn resolve to marry whomever she, if ever, wanted.
