Short summary of Finley’s timeline:

Age 0-16: Finley had an ordinary life as a young girl from childhood to teenage years.

Age 16: Lost in the woods close to her small hometown of Chesterton, Finley discovers her ability to shapeshift which allows her to make her way out of the forest. At that age, she starts exploring her newfound powers, feeling more excited than anything else. Eventually, unknown to Finley, hunters arrive to Chesterton to find her. While attempting to flush out Finley, the hunters end up killing Kristen with a deliberate house fire. The events lead Finley to lose control of her abilities which lead to fear of prosecution and to Finley running away from home and becoming the prime suspect in the murder case of Kristen Everest.

Age 16 to 19: Finley treaded overseas and in different cities, using her abilities as a means to travel. Narrowly evading the law every time, she could still feel the police fighting tooth and nail to track her down, as well as the hunters who were still hot on her trail. Finley searches for her powers’ origins but to no avail.

Age 19: Finley attempts to steal from Carlos Mendoza who learns of her abilities. He gains her trust, gives her shelter before traumatic events occur which lead Finley to run, this time not just from the law, but herself. Finley semi-permanently shifts into her male form which allows her to escape her reality and start anew.

Age 20-21: Now bearing a new face and a different gender, the original Finley French gets wiped off the map with the law enforcement losing her trail. Finley has no documents or legal proof of identity so he resorts to dirty jobs and theft which he ends up excelling at.

-Meets Marlene and Ray, two middle aged shady siblings that give him a small place to stay above their strip club in which he ends up working in to repay them and earn his keep. A pivotal moment in getting back on his feet for Finley. Had a brief relationship with Victor Coridas during that time.

-Steals from the wrong person for the second time, that being Brask, a henchman to one of the most influential gang members and werewolves in North America. Gets indoctrinated to work for them for awhile.

-Dozen attempts in getting a place of his own; squatting in abandoned buildings to protect Ray and Marlene from the wolves and stop them from asking questions, lest they get involved.

NOW: (whatever storyline that follows after this backstory in our roleplays.)

FUTURE: Finley is a reincarnation of the Original Shapeshifter, also known as the Mother of Monsters. Finley is currently unaware of this.

Mother of Monsters/The Original Shapeshifter

The Original Shapeshifter is a primordial being that is a soulful embodiment of evolution. It naturally takes on a form of a female, having adopted inaccurate names of Eve, Gaia, Circe, Loki, Nagual, with its original identity before written surviving legends remaining unknown.

The Original’s disdain towards humanity grew from human’s destructive nature. The Original believes in the chaotic balance of the natural order, which is inclusive towards non-human creatures. It negates the snobbish cruelty which emits from humans when it comes to perverting nature and killing creatures that are perceived as ‘monsters’.

The Original took on the mantle of Mother of Monsters, by creating her own array of children, hyper evolving a select few humans to what is currently considered supernatural: werewolves, vampires, chimeras, hybrids, halflings and fae. She has given birth to monsters that do not fall in the ‘supernatural’ category by being too monstrous to pass as humans, preying on the mortal blood and hiding in the darkness.

The Mother is not destructive in nature but is a mere response to humanity’s own initiated destruction – she considers the bloodshed her and her children cause a necessary chaos to restore the natural balance that humanity’s very existence is corrupting.

Evolutionary in nature, the Mother can physically be killed, but not spiritually. She stays within a consistent reincarnation cycle – reincarnating through the very humans she despises, and the hosts become gifted with her abilities. The past lives of the Mother’s reincarnation cycle can reach the point where they are able to communicate with each other, as well as see each other’s memories. Each host is her own person, yet they all share the same soul that binds their identities with faint threads that cannot be separated.

Current known host: Finley French.

Rules and Terms

1. Never send a greeting in character. Writing wise, you must be literate and able to write multi para and up.

2. This account is for playing one single character which this profile is dedicated to. Do not ask me to play random characters to fit your plots. If you're adding me, you're roleplaying with Finley.

3. Don’t pester me for replies just because I'm online. There are days when I have a higher muse for specific stories. I won't leave you hanging, but don't be annoying. I always make sure to communicate to everyone on my list about my availability.

4. Not interested in only romance focused plots. There has to be more to a story than that. It can be an element depending on how close our characters get, but not the focus of the story.

5. Not all stories work out. They can grow stale or just don't feel interesting. Perhaps we lose the plot that drove it forward. And it's okay. It doesn't mean we need to stop being writing partners. We just need to be honest with each other so we can plot something else. I tend to be pretty straightforward with it, so don't feel afraid to be the same.

6. I am always excited to brainstorm original plots or create crossovers with canon characters you play. Never premeditate the entire plot, however - plotting includes the premise of our characters' first meeting and from there, we roleplay and see what drives the plot forward.

7. Do not control my characters or premeditate their reactions. Be patient, even if your reply becomes shorter because you need to wait for my character’s response. It’s fine, just don’t assume what my character is going to do and say and carry on. That's god modding and it's not fun.

8. If there’s no response or notification on what’s going on for 14 days, I’ll remove you no questions asked. I know that real life gets tough, which is why when it does, I make sure to communicate that to my writing partners. If you don’t, you get deleted.

9. If you add me, it’s up to you to message first. If you add me and don't contact me in the next 3 days, I'm deleting you, as you're clearly not interested in plotting. There's a reason why I don't usually have more than 20 friends on this account. I only keep people on here who I'm actually writing with.

10. Even when I add you myself, I still expect plotting and discussing a story to be a mutual effort. If I'm getting a vibe from you that you're not that interested or won't put as much care in story making as I will, I'll remove you. No hard feelings. Just be honest if you're not interested or not feeling it when it comes to ideas.

These rules may sound no-nonsense but I have nonsense coming out of all my crevices. The admin is a friendly nerd who eats memes for breakfast. Hobbies include writing, petting stray cats and eating cheese.

Shapeshifter lore

Shapeshifter Lore

Shapeshifting is an immensely rare gift that does not follow a direct family line. It is often triggered by a traumatic experience that causes the shapeshifter to be someone/something else. Sometimes, it’s a mere desire to experience the world in a different way. Much more rarely, it is triggered through religious means.

There is usually no more than a handful of animal/human shifters in a single century, most of which end up never meeting or becoming aware of one another. Most of them also have certain limits of what creatures they can shift to.

Strengths

They can change their human physical appearance at will, looking like any human they want to, or mixing together all sorts of aspects.

They are able to become animals, typically any animal of the normal variety.  It is easiest to shift into animals of similar size to humans, and more exhausting to become something much larger or much smaller.  Skilled animal shifters can mimic mythical animals and blend animal parts together, though blending animal parts tends to look very grotesque without great skill. Often, close-fitting clothes shift along with animal shapeshifters - the tight fibers of clothing blend into the shifter’s rearranging skin.

All shifters have an amazing knack for deception.  It’s nearly impossible to tell when a shifter is telling the truth or lying.  Machines and psychics alike can’t get a straight read from them. While shapeshifters aren't completely immune to psychic influence, psychics who can control minds have a very hard time of being able to tell if the mind control is actually taking hold.

Weaknesses

If they get hurt in one form, that injury stays with them when they shift to another form. They are also subject to human diseases, being primarily human.

They aren't any stronger or faster than they can shift to be, and they can't shift to be anything supernatural.

Animal shifters can lose themselves in an animal form, overwhelmed by the animal’s instinct or a desire to escape their human misfortunes.

Human shifters sometimes forget who they were exactly to begin with, especially if they start shifting before leaving puberty.

Other

A shapeshifter’s blood is said to strengthen the powers of other supernaturals for a temporary period of time, and could be used as a powerful component of rituals, potions and spells.
