Backstory

Being born into an aristocratic family can come with high social status and recognition. People may show respect and deference due to one’s family's position in society. That was not the case with Riel. Although he was the son of a nobleman, he was cursed from the moment he was born. Albinism was not far from being viewed as witchcraft, and it was not a good image for such an influential family. Riel’s father rejected him, claiming he was not his but the devil’s son, while his mother saw no other choice but to side with her wealthy husband. He was handed over to the nannies of the family who raised him in secrecy, while his name was erased from any family records mentioning his existence. Despite the isolation and rejection, Riel grew up with a resilient spirit, determined to prove his worth. He immersed himself in books and knowledge, finding solace in the world of words and ideas. He was particularly interested in the adventures of sailing.
As soon as he was old enough, he joined the privateers. This allowed him to satisfy his thirst for excitement and earn a living at the same time. During that time, he also met a woman named Aurore Belmont. She was a captivating and adventurous woman who shared his love for the sea. She was a nobody in the eyes of society, but so was Riel after being cast out from the lavish lifestyle by his family. Their shared passion for adventure brought them closer together, and they soon became inseparable companions on their daring voyages. However, it was not long after their marriage that only one of them would make it back. Aurore fell victim to an ambush during their time out on the sea. Broken by the loss of his beloved wife, Riel poured all his pain into unleashing his devastating attacks on enemy ships. But soon, when the war had come to an end, there was no more need for privateers. That was when he, already having the experience and hunger for plunder, made the decision to turn to piracy.
He named his first pirate vessel the Aurore.

However, he has a tendency to significantly change his behaviour in a short period of time, which may be confusing to those around him. He may even become uneasy or suspicious of people who have no intention of harming him whatsoever. He often tends to lose touch with reality.

Backstory

He grew up in a wealthy household in London, but unlike most wealthy parents who spoil their children, Sylvester's parents prioritised their own needs. That was one of the things that led him to believe he and his younger brother existed solely to portray an idealised image of a family devoid of emotional ties. Despite that neglect, he was a cheerful, lively kid with the greatest of imaginations. That was thanks to his brother, Benjamin. They spent the majority of their time together, taking walks down the river or playing in parks, and on the rare occasions when the sky was clear at night, they went stargazing and made up a bunch of silly constellations.

Sylvester's hallucinations began shortly after they moved into their new home in Eastbourne, following the unexpected death of his brother at 15. Since his mind could not accept or comprehend such a major loss, he strongly denied it. His first hallucination occurred at the funeral, when he saw his allegedly deceased brother hiding among the graveyard trees. Ever since that day, he had been seeing his image nearly everywhere he went, causing him to believe that he was somehow still alive and was only hiding from the rest of the world. His parents appeared to be understanding of him at first, but then he found out they were intending to commit him to a mental facility because he was not improving, so he fled.

He sought shelter at a lighthouse until he was discovered by a man named Leonard, the lighthouse keeper. At the boy’s request, instead of returning him to his parents, Leonard took him in on the condition that he become his helper around the lighthouse. The first couple of weeks went smoothly. Sylvester had simple tasks to tend to, and he even enjoyed them. But as the following month rolled in, things took a turn for the worse.
One night, while patrolling the shoreline, he was drawn to the water as though by an invisible force, compelling him to dive in. He wandered out onto the damp rocks, standing at the edge and peering into the liquid abyss, which stared right back. The moment he plunged into the sea, a pair of gleaming white dots greeted him from below. It was another figment of his imagination—a black, human-shaped creature with big, bright white eyes that leaked a tar-like substance. Leonard discovered him the next morning, lying unconscious among the rocks.

From that day forward, the creature tormented him both day and night. It began by telling him that his parents were to blame for Benjamin's death and that they would have gotten rid of him as well if he hadn't run away. Later on, it even went into great depth about the process of the killing. That's what eventually drew him back to the new house: he wanted to avenge his brother.
He ended up strangling his mother and stabbing his father, who happened to survive the incident. To avoid being caught, Sylvester boarded a ferry bound for Dieppe, France, and began a new life as a florist. He had little to no knowledge of the French language except for a few basic words. Everything he knows now, he picked up from the time he spent working there.
He is completely unaware that his father survived and that his parents had nothing to do with his brother’s death; it was a prescribed medication that killed Benjamin.

He is honest and loyal to those in his favour.

Backstory

Born in Doncaster, England,—as a result of his mother’s addiction to short-lived thrill—Eliot Chasey was brought up as the bastard son of Eva Leitz. She cut off contact with Eliot’s biological father shortly before his birth, due to the trouble it had caused with her spouse at the time, and raised him alone.
During his childhood, he was often left in isolation whilst his mother carelessly devoted herself to countless men, further chasing her satisfaction. Drugs had taken her away piece by piece. Money was disappearing and valuable items vanishing. Over time, they grew further apart, which drove Eliot to fend for himself in a poverty stricken life, while still having to look after his absent mother.

At the age of 15, when their financial situation was at its worst and they could no longer afford to live on their own, they moved back to his mother’s homeland, Germany. After reconnecting and making peace with Eliot’s uncle in Munich, he took them in, and their finances were not something to worry about anymore. Eliot had also managed to find himself a legitimate job and earn some extra cash.
One thing, however, did not change. Eva’s addiction was only worsening. Constant fights and arguments described this part of Eliot’s life, as his mother refused to seek help, not even for the promise of a new, easier life. It was only a matter of time before history began repeating itself, and the money they were given started to go to waste. The fights on that matter between Eva and Werner had gotten to the point where he was going to send her and Eliot back to England. On the following night of the argument, she died of an overdose.
Eliot found her in the morning. She had already looked skeletal in her life, death had only flushed her of colour. His emotions shut down at once as he stood there and watched her. He knew it was to be expected.
As the funeral would come, very few had attended. Distant relatives, old friends, exes. But even then, those whom Eliot had never seen before showed more empathy toward the dead than he ever could.

He lived on with his uncle who slowly took up a parental role, and introduced him to the underground business world, about which he kept quiet in front of Eva. Most of what he now knows he learned from Werner, who had basically turned him into his apprentice. Under his influence, at the age of 18, Eliot started working as a criminal debt collector for a German organisation.
Two years later, what led him back to the familiar streets of England was one of his missions, but what made him stay was achieved by a mutual contact. He was made an offer, and the debt collections turned into assassinations.
