The two ladies head to Xiao's residence and walk inside without knocking nor anything, looking for the yaksha.

In the end, all the old adepti decided to follow Zhongli to his new kingdom. In truth, most of them were already feeling quite useless in Liyue, as they didn't fit in the society and at the same time, they didn't really have a role within the nation anymore. They were all just living like eremites on their mountains, suffering loneliness while pretending to enjoy it. Except Madame Ping, that is. And she came too, just in case.

Now that they are in Nortrig, the challenge will be to get used to Lianxi and its customs. Cloud Retainer and the others were already adviced by Chan not to go around in the city in the shape of animals, else they'd risk some people to try to hunt them for meat and they don't want to hurt auriold in Zhongli's kingdom.

Cloud Retainer avoids to spend time with the old fossils, since they always end up getting on her nerves, one way or another. Ping is already searching the palace gardens for new flowers she has never seen before, which Xianyun doesn't find particularly entertaining.
Not sure what else to do, she starts to explore the palace as well, not really knowing the areas or places it's divided into. She doesn't hesitate to get inside buildings that draw her curiosity, when guards let her pass.

Eventually, she reaches the Damiwon and since it's evening, she decides to take a bath in the big, heated pool in there, that was certainly not prepared for her, but she doesn't really know how things work in the palace.
She takes off her clothes and dives into the hot and scented water.

They head off to look for Chan and Cyno and while inspecting the few oasis closer to Khaj-Nisut, Xianyun's device finally captures a signal from Cyno's phone.
They find some tracks on the way, that suggest they had a sudden change of path and are now heading on the opposite side as where Khaj-Nisut is, despite it was were Deshret's journey would lead him to, the final destination after the last obelisk.
Now, Deshret and Chan are by the Safhe Shatranj, where they momentarily stopped, as Deshret has no recollection of Gurabad and the ruins have him perplexed. He didn't manage to regain all of his memories, as some of the obelisks on his way had been destroyed.

As soon as she returns to Cyno's house, she selects the most fitting space for her to start working on a device, using Chan's phone as a sample to build something that could react to that specific kind of technology. It's not an easy deal, as it's something completely alien to their world, but she is more than determined to give Zhongli what he asked for. She is, after all, extremely prideful and can't tolerate defeat. Especially when it comes of mechanics.

It takes her just a few hours to come up with a prototype and she hurries to test it, but she needs a "test subject" that she has to select among the present ones.

- They aren't mutated auriold or zimox, they are a species of their own.
Gods involved: Xie and Phoei.
* Gu — son of the two, formerly a minor god, officially the first Oni. (After he lost godhood. He was born with two elements, the same as his parents, thus his existence as God would compromise the balance. He was deprived of godhood and sent in Nortrig. It happened in recent times, Oni race is rather new.)

Feeding: Mixed. They need both fear and normal food, until and unless their level of cultivation becomes high enough. At that point, they become able to only feed on fear.

Characteristics:
• They feed on fear;
• Their aura tends to cause other creatures to feel naturally uneasy;
• They can perceive others' emotions clearly;
• They can't feel fear, but all their other emotions are amplified;
* In some cases, every feeling that other species associate with fear (anxiety, worry etc) are felt as anger.
• They can only reproduce with other Oni and Knights with BOTH Evil and Fear elements (regardless the order);
• They are heavily empowered by fear, the more they consume, the stronger, faster and agile they get;
* It's not permanent, it's like a buff that last for a while. Their skill decrease as fear is consumed by their bodies.
