(Spots Open 0/0)

In the year 2023, their was a solar flare in close proximity to Earth’s atmosphere. No one thought anything of the blast, just some mild heat wave that swept across the country. Though it did get scientists and extremists pulling out their hair as to how it didn’t destroy the planet as originally predicted. This phenomenon would later be classified as the “Solar Mutation Pandemic”. All children born the year of the flare were born with unique powers that stemmed when the radiation from the flash caused their DNA to mutate. This ultimately cause a spring of chaos to erupt. Children were taken from their parents both willing and reluctant alike. The government ran tests to see if they could “cure” the children population but unfortunately fueled their rage to be treated as equals. Some even daring to be declared a stronger species. Most had come to accept their powers as something that made themselves, well, themselves. 16 years of enduring painful treatment from the depths of labs and experiments, the children had had enough.

History would later describe their escape as both a massacre and revolutionary step for this new generation of mutated kids. Millions of children suffered major casualties escaping and the ones who survived were hunted. Their escape for freedom now made them permanently outcasted and treated as deadly terrorists. However, the ones who stayed were trained to hunt their fellow mutants as well. This drastically decimated more children whom thought they could trust others of their kind.

When all seemed lost and it looked as if all of the mutated children’s fate was sealed, a single man started a secret underground safe haven for the 16 year olds. His name was Clark Smith, a former government agent who did not agree with the slaughter of children just because the humans were afraid of their own young. They would soon name their home “Secret Base” and thrive right under the noses of everyone. This continued smoothly for six solid years, Clark taking in more and more children, the ones still left. Now 22 years in age and no longer children, they no longer wanted to live in fear and confined down in Secret Base. Clark refused, assuring them that there was no hope for the world above them. That their parents, family, the public would never accept them as they were.

Clark was never challenged and none went against the old man’s rules to leave the base until he grew ill. He called on his favorite pupils to run things until he got better. He never did. His death sent waves of panic throughout Secret Base, without Clark their home would quickly deteriorate and be exposed to the world. They would have to leave the only home they’ve ever known.

Because of every child in the year 2033 turning mutant, the population above had dwindled. Many had become afraid of having children after 2033, wondering if the flare would affect another generation. It was later seen that this wasn’t the case and the birthdate slowly climbed again. The government hadn’t given up their search, they knew that they had hardly eradicated every child born in the year 2033. The public on the other hand had only ever seen the mutants that worked for the government. They ones who remained still tracked and killed off any mutant they could find that wasn’t one of their own. Believe that the government saw them as the better side of their generation and therefore would be saved once the rebels were killed, converted, or captured.

Our story begins with the ones who were there when Clark died. Hearing his last words that even if it was in hiding that they had to survive. This would prove difficult as those who were left split off after Clark’s death. That and Clark’s best students didn’t always see eye to eye on how to run things. Each leaving to fend for themselves with people they grew up with. Fate would bring these five back together and force them to rely on each other to survive.

[Alright, this is so badly written and I had no idea where I was going with his idea. It sounded better in my head. Forgive my terrible grammar and ability to write interesting stories arg. I might make an OOC forum as well just because I’d like more skilled writers to help with plots and ideas for the story as things go along? If this interests anyone dur. I had just the idea that a group of friends with powers dynamic would be fun in a sort of dystopian world. Fighting other power’d and military alike, you know the usual. So the only real thing I’ll be picky about is everyone should relatively get along]

Name: Aylin Ira (Eye-Lin Eye-rah)

Nick Name(s): Lin, Aylee (A-Lee), A

Age: 24

Height: 5’7

Hair Color: Light Brown

Eye Color: Black

Sexuality: Pansexual

Power(s):

Telekinesis: Aylin can influence/manipulate/move objects/matter with her mind.

Telepathy: Aylin can read/sense another person's thoughts, communicate with them mentally. Slight mind-manipulation abilities though when used on others of her kind, it take a lot of effort and often results in fainting or her nose bleeding.

Weaknesses: Aylin can lift herself into the air however this greatly throws off her sense of direction. Willing or not, in the air or off balance she cannot do anything while floating or suspended. This along with she must be able to see what she is manipulating, if her eyes are closed or bound she cannot use her ability of telekinesis.

Aylin’s ability of telepathy only allows herself to read minds but loud thoughts or emotions get through easily. If one screams thoughts at her, she cannot maintain the connection and the reaction is to cover her ears as volume carries through into her own mind. Emotions also can overwhelm her through the telepathy connection.

Personality (Optional): Aylin first comes off as snobby, outspoken, and sarcastic. She is standoffish and to almost everyone she meets, perhaps because she became so used to seeing the worst in people when the pandemic began.

She can be a bit of a tease and a flirt when Aylin wants to be but underneath her tough girl façade, she’s still a girl who never learned to be herself in front of others. In reality, she is still the sixteen year old girl who dreams of a world where everyone can accept each other for who they are. Perhaps even dream of letting herself open up and be comfortable even amongst her own kind. Like any girl who finds herself unable to find what to say, you can be sure Aylin’s walls come crumbling down to show her true colors. A soft-spoken girl who is afraid of using her powers against others, even if they had hurt her in the past.

FC: Bae Joo-hyun aka Irene

Aylin couldn’t believe the original structure was still intact. Sure, it hadn’t been too long since everyone abandoned their Secret Base but she’d expected most of its distinguishing features to be absent. The underground facility still had some working power left in its veins as when she flipped the main power breaker, everything came back to life. Aside from how dusty and unkept everything was, everything seemed to be working without having to sustain hundreds of Powereds. Coughing from the staleness of the air, Aylin wandered around and reminisced about the good times. Everything had crumbled so quickly after Clark’s death, she couldn’t even recall being able to say goodbye to the people she’d grown up with. The last faces she saw were strangers to her, other Powereds who she had assumed at the time were close to Clark. Given he had made sure they were all in the room with him when he passed.

That had been five weeks ago and she’d been surviving on her own in the surrounding forest where the entrance to the base was. All of them knew that the city was the most dangerous place for their kind to be, especially because of how many government powereds resided there. Aylin wasn’t sure if they’d found a person with the power to tell if someone was a mutant yet. She figured if there had been they would have all been caught by now.

‘I hope at least some show up...’ Aylin thought to herself, sitting down in a dusty recliner. Yesterday evening, she’d sent out a message for any mutant in the area to come back to the base. It was easy to pick apart the minds of normal humans from others of her kind. She wasn’t sure if she was doing what Clark would have wanted but he’d wanted everyone to stick it out together. Her radius of power could go far but even she didn’t know how far that was. Now all she could do was wait and figure it all out as the events occurred. What did she have planned if people did show up? Aylin still hadn’t a clue, just that they couldn’t keep living like street rats scurrying in the dark to stay alive.

Making herself useful instead of waiting around to collect dust like the other things in the abandoned base, Aylin got to her feet. She bent down, picking up what seemed to be an old newspaper. There had been a few papers brought down with them, some Powereds had wanted to keep in the know about what happened right above their heads. Blowing lightly onto the paper, dust scattered and made her want to sneeze as it lingered in the air.

On the cover, smiling widely at the camera was a face she wouldn’t have expected to see. Clark was standing side by side with another man who shared Clark’s evident delight. ‘Clark Smith and Johnathan Price: National Heroes’ the headline read which made Aylin hint at a fond smile. It had been something Clark had always boasted about, ‘being a hero’ but Aylin had always assumed he had been referring to the Powereds.

Her attention shifted when someone or multiple someone’s thoughts creeped into her mind. Aylin had been practicing keeping her telepathy open at all times to avoid being snuck up upon. It was handy and didn’t take much effort to listen in on people’s private thoughts. She would have to work on how to dig further into that power, perhaps it would come in handy being able to see everything that went on in someone’s mind rather than what they were thinking presently.

Setting the paper down, Aylin faced the entrance and let out a slow breath. At least she could tell that it wasn’t a human but it was hard to tell if they were on her side or a part of the government.
