Well,
There are countless students from all dimensions coming to this magical school to become stronger to properly handle the situations in the worlds they come from.
It can be a monk who needs to be a better martial artist
A magician who wants to be a good apprentice
A dark lord in training who in his universe wants to be the ruler of the world
Your character doesn't even need to be original heck you can have Super Mario training to beat bowser XD
it's a magic school with several sub plots based around the characters so lots of character development and fun antics and drama and all sorts of things really because there's so much personality and variety.
