Long-term, plotline partially worked out and still open for suggestions! MxM or MxF. Let's get into the backstory and plot.

In a nondescript kingdom somewhere in the middle east, an ill-suited king makes poor decision after poor decision, pushing the tempers of his subjects and neighbouring rulers alike to their limit. Romali, a nobleman with a vague, old claim to the throne, working as an advisor to the king, is always the one to pull the strings of court, public affairs and ambassadorship to limit the damage done, with help from the other advisors. Starting out as a whisper among the noblemen, a conspiracy for the king to be replaced starts to brew, with Romali as the top pick to replace him. With his royal ancestry and talent for diplomacy, the young man suddenly finds himself leading the plan of a coup.

Puzzled by his close friend and confidant gradually retreating, the king struggles to put his finger on what could possibly have changed. Still none the wiser, the king gifts Romali with y/c, who is secretly sworn loyal to the king. Catious to avoid suspicion, Romali pulls the breaks on the coup, and only continues corresponding in a strictly limited way. He dutifully holds up a show of spending time courting y/c, diverting suspicion, and even though he knows there is a slight chance that there is something dishonorable at play in them, he starts to fall for them. Romali becomes doubtful, considering abandoning the coup altogether, as going through with it might mean losing y/c.

Meanwhile, y/c starts off with nothing to report to the king, as at first it appears that Romali simply became busier and was unable to be as involved with the king's affairs. As Romali starts to fall for them however, his guard comes down and he becomes sloppy, though he thinks his charade is still holding up to y/c. As y/c starts to realize what Romali is planning, they have to choose between reporting to the king and collecting the neverending rewards for their service, or betting on the success of Romali and being a part of it, but simultaneously putting themselves at risk of being exposed as a spy, were the displaced king to let that slip after a coup.

Based on the choices facing our characters, the plot can go two main ways; Romali ends up being sentenced to death for treason, and escapes to be a fugutive, or the coup is successful, and Romali and y/c must navigate a period of unrest and turmoil from certain backlash. These can be fleshed out further if we get this far. The starting point of the rp is the day of y/c being unexpectedly presented to Romali.

Romali
Desc: 26 yrs, tall for middle eastern standards, western-middle eastern mixed descent, dark eyes and dark cropped hair, pale to tan skin tone, lean physique.
Class: nobleman
Marital status: one husband; Hassan (noble classes take multiple spouses of varying genders).
Education: extensive, taught by court professors, academics and philosophers from all corners of the world.
Kin: son of ambassadors, blood relations with people of varying profession and status. Brother to six full- and halfsiblings.

Images of both Romali and Hassan can be found on my profile. I play them both, as well as the king and various other characters (note that y/c is not going to be in a relationship with Hassan, further than platonic). You are free to choose as many characters as you are comfortable with playing. Y/c can be any type of character, from royalty to concubine, or anything in between, and anything outside of that if that's where your imagination takes you.
I'm a super open and creative person, so please don't hesitate to reply with questions, interest or your suggestions, I'm just excited to get this rp going, would love to hear from you :)
