Unnamed Zombie Apocalypse

April 21st, 2042 is the day the world ended. Surprisingly it wasn't nuclear war, global warming, or any other from of manmade apocalypse. It was instead the doing of an asteroid that had sailed a bit too close to Earth and mostly burnt up in the atmosphere. The small chunks that managed to land were nothing anyone would normally even notice. Yet as people started becoming sick, a state of emergency was quickly put into action. At first everyone thought it was just another Covid, lock everything down a month or two and everything would go back to normal.

As more and more people became sick, the people were forced into their homes, only essential workers were allowed to leave. Yet as the strange sickness continued to spread the term "essential" became more and more strict to the point only emergency services and maintenance were active on the roads. Soon after even those stopped running. Despite the death toll continuing to rise, people started to leave their homes. First by the handfuls, then by the dozens.

Though the unfortunate would discover that these were not "people" roaming the streets. No, those who were all too eager to get out of the house were soon met with the horrifying realization that the dead walked among them. Without emergency services, repairs or supply convoys, civilization would completely crumble.

Civilians began leaving homes and looting just to survive, only to add to the numbers of undead. By the year 2060, only a few people remained, huddled together in communities barely held together by what little material was able to be scavenged.

In the distant future, humanity has spread itself among the stars, touching every corner of their universe. During their expansion, they found dead civilizations spread throughout. Yet not a single living intelligent life form. Masters of their own galaxy, we have decided to search beyond. But space is quiet, cold and uncaring, filled with unspeakable dangers.

Let's have an adventure in such a universe. We can be explorers, pushing beyond our known universe. Perhaps corporate CEOs attempting to squeeze what we can from what we have. Maybe even soldiers in a war humanity is waging amongst itself. Feel free to send me a message and let's discuss!
