Restricting stronger forms until later in the RP sounds like a great idea. I definitely plan on doing something like that.
(Have people debate about who will win a PvP match and talk about the highlights before the match starts) I'm not too sure that will work well. It's not a 1v1 tournament, so people could end up getting into fights with multiple opponents, which could be harder to plan around.
To be honest, I think that the issue isn't so much about powerful characters as much as it is players who don't seem willing to let their characters lose, which is obviously a problem for a competitive RP. I have thought of a way to deal with that, but I'm open to any suggestions.

Avoiding overpowered characters was exactly what I tried to do from the beginning. But that obviously didn't go so well. Anyway, I have been thinking of other ways to avoid them, though I'm not sure how well they will work.
On a related note, what would you guys say is a good power limit for roleplay characters. I was thinking around Frieza saga levels, but obviously some people want their characters far stronger...

Yeah, this is quite dead. But I have been thinking about making a new version of this. Anybody have any ideas on how to make it better?
