roots

Quirky, sweet and full of life, Angelique alongside her mother Francine Le'Söor, built a name for herself in the interior design world. Creating a wide set of portfolios, Angel has done work for offices buildings, hotel suites, personal penthouses and so on. In her twenties still, Angel focused on building for her and her mother, establishing the Le'Söor: Architect and Design.

Though, Francine was not her biological mother, Angel loved the woman as her mother just the same. Some years ago, when Angel was sixteen, she woke up in a hospital, forehead held tight by stitches and no recollection of who she was or where she came from. Under the care of Nurse Francine, a special and unforgettable bond began for between the two. Francine could not figure out how in the world such a bright child could have been abandoned. All the police found after a local fisherman had discovered her in the woods, forehead and hair caked with blood from colliding against a boulder, was a single piece of paper with the name Angelique in terrible chicken scratch.

Francine, a widow after her husband died from a heart attack the previous year, did not have children of her own. It was only natural that her heart reached out to the poor girl during her care. But little did she know, Francine would soon bite off more than she could chew, taking in the daughter of a renowned bounty hunter and ex con.

Living in the outskirts of Macao, wishing for their first born to be a son, Cassius Rudolfo Montez was very disappointed to find that his wife, Maricella Rosaline Montez was to give birth to a daughter. And true enough, she did. Being a bounty hunter, among other notorious names, Cassius dubbed The Silver Snake, made the decision that despite having a daughter, he would train her to be a fighting, killing machine. He had to brand every fiber of his teachings and ways into her skin. And engrave every knowledge and information he had into her brain. Even against his wife's wishes.

Given the name Angelique Rose Montez, the beautiful, bright and brunette child, began her training at the age of six with her father. Many days of crying, limited meals, conditioning and strength training was all she was beginning to come as routine to her. By the age nine, she became numb to crying and became resilient to her fathers constant shouting at her whenever her stance was wrong when she held specific weapons or was too easily knocked down during combat. Through calluses, bruises, bloody noses, and famine, Angel was becoming hard and cold. At the age eleven, her father announced to her that she would be taking her first job. Alone. Knowing her father, she did not question the man on why he would feed her daughter to the wolves on the first job.

But, he was Cassius. The Silver Snake. And like all snakes, he was a true snake in the grass. Angel's first job was to take a man down by the name of Roddy Dan Chen. A man who murdered his wife and child in cold blood. His location was at a hideout near the north side of the mountains in Taiwan. From the intel that was given to her father, which was not much, Angel deduced there would at least be seven other men. Having to travel there alone, Angel enjoyed the peace and silence but missed her mother. Before she left, her mother in tears, told her to come back safely as she held Angel against her pregnant belly. She knew her mother did not want this for her but she also did nothing to stop it from happening.

Angel succeeded in her mission, she took down Dan Chen. She took them all down. But she kept none alive. Under the scrutiny of her father, she felt restricted, but when she was alone, she never felt more free. Her agility, her ferocity, and her skills flourished. And he father from a distance had witnessed it, proud that she was becoming exactly what he wanted. But when he saw the look in her eyes, the smile on her face, he knew instantly that she was going off the rails.

Angel made a name for herself, The Devil's Rose, across many continents, amongst the Yakuza, Mafias and organizations alike. Including underground markets. She far exceeded her father's expectations. Of course he wanted her to inherit his legacy but never did he want her to overshadow who and what he was. Hit man, bounty hunter, and ex con. A genius. A force to be reckoned with. But his daughter was taking the spotlight. A natural prodigy. And at the age sixteen, she got many offers to join multiple organizations and crime groups. But she turned them down. She became a crucial source of intel. A powerhouse and weapons specialist with stealth and agility unmatched. The young girl who gave herself every poison and nursed herself to health, just to become immune.Running her fathers renowned name into the ground. And if no one could have her. She was a threat to all.

Jealousy seething through his veins, Cassius knew he had to bring his daughter down before she started an all out war, bringing calamity to her family. He devised a plan that had his wife invite their daughter to dinner. Always having a soft spot for her mother, Angel agrees. She also wanted to meet her brother and sister for the first time. Twins. She hoped that her father would not put them through what he did with her. Dinner was how it had always been. Quiet. Little conversation. with the exception of coos and awws from her mother with the twins.

During the middle of dinner, Angel was not aware she had gone out cold from the sedatives her father had put into her food. She was not aware that her father threw her over her shoulder or that her mother cried for her and begged him to stop. Nor did she feel the rain beating down on her as it poured from the darkened sky, drenching her clothing and hair. But not enough to wash away her sins. Her father slips a paper with her first name on it only, into her pocket before cradling his daughter in his arms, staring down at her face with solemn disdain, saying only these words, "You are no more." before tossing her over the cliffside, witnessing her hit the side of the boulder with a sickening crack, before turning away with so much as a glance back.

Every now and then, Angel's nights would be wrought with nightmares and visions of a version of herself that she did not know. Like a gore from a movie. She would taunt, torture and kill. Finding joy in it. And each time she would wake up feeling remnants of someone in her room but would find no one.

But someone was always watching her from a distance. Her dubbed name, The Devil's Rose, dripping from their tongue like acid. "All will come to light. And you will writhe in your darkness, Rose."
