As Miko grew up, she resided with her aunt, who kindled an interest in flowers within her. The interest would eventually blossom into a lifelong career for the woman. After her divorce at the age of twenty-two, she opened a flower and design shop to occupy her time. The divorce has had a lasting impact on Miko, resulting in challenges in forming friendships and sustaining relationships. Even though she shows a touch of assertiveness, many people admire her compassionate nature.

Her next lover, Danny, had shattered her heart into a million pieces. What they accomplished proved fleeting, yet it left an enduring impression on the young woman's heart. It was almost as if the cycle was repeating itself. Miko saw this person as her soulmate, ticking off all the boxes of what she wanted in a partner. He was everything that she sought out to be. That would all soon end when he left town and never talked to the woman again.

During her early years, Yumiko Liu excelled academically, consistently earning top grades while displaying a reserved demeanor. She hesitated to get too close to others, concerned that it might expose the reality of her situation. Her parents frequently argued about financial issues, leading to her father eventually leaving the household. The only memory she holds from the day her mother left her with her aunt is the warmth of the weather and the curiosity of why some dandelions seemed closed while others remained open. Living in seclusion with her aunt, she found joy away from others. She mastered tending to her garden and looking after the stray cats that visited her daily. After she moved in with her aunt, she started homeschooling, a change that she seemed to thoroughly enjoy. It was heartbreaking for both her and her aunt when she left home.
