Background: Mia came from a lower class family who didn’t have much to their name. Her father worked at a dead end office job and her mother worked part time at a grocery store while she raised Mia. Her parents were both often angry, drunk, and always fighting with one another. Mia usually stayed out of the arguments, but they’d somehow always drag her into their fights, and use her as leverage against each other. They refused to get divorced because neither of them could make it on their own. They needed each other to pay the bills, as they refused to rely on their families, so the toxic relationship only blossomed into something greater. This led to Mia getting horrible grades in school as she stayed up most night with anxiety attacks, and some depression to go along with it. So the moment Mia turned 18, she left home.

Mia started working at a retail store when she was 16, and was trained in the jewelry department. With this experience, and referrals from her bosses, she secured a job at a local higher end jewelry store. In this business, most money is made through commissions. So the more she sold, the more money she got. Other than that, she made pennies by the hour, so sometimes she’d be sitting pretty for the next week and others she would struggle to buy groceries, there really isn’t any in between.

Mia, however, ended up rescuing a kitten outside of her apartment building during a cold and rainy night. She scraped together enough money to get some kitten formula, medicine, a bed, and a heating pad. She bottle fed the baby kitten every 3 hours until she eventually grew into her sweet and loving self that Mia calls Sweetie.

Mia doesn’t have much. Her cat, a tiny studio apartment, and a 10 year old car. But in the end, Mia is content with where she is. But working during the day and taking night classes means she doesn’t get enough time to go out and socialize. She has one best friend who is her co worker. She’s always there when Mia needs her, but Mia wants something more. Someone to have and to hold, someone to love, and someone to care for her.
