Writing Example/Starter One

Alexander Barlowe had always been a cynical person. He always looked at situations and people through skeptical eyes, taking everything in with a grain of salt. It was imperative for his protection to see everyone as an enemy, and to always see the harsh world for what it truly was. But even he had his moments to where he had hoped things would get better, that his view of the world would change one of the days. He would find something or someone that gave his life new meaning, and then he could truly have some form of happiness. But that small hope was diminished the day his parents told him that he was basically going to be used to pay back their debt. Was it credit debt? Or even card debt? Of course not because that would be way too easy, and Alex's life was anything but. His family thought it would be a good idea to borrow thousands of dollars from a vampire mafia group, and then not pay it back. Alex's parents were not even hurting for cash, but they were the type of people to live above their means.

The young boy knew his parents loved the finer things in life, but he never suspected they would go through such great lengths just to achieve their selfish goals. How did they think they were going to get away with not paying the mafia back? And not just a regular mafia group, no that also would have been way too easy. But a vampire mafia group, creatures who ate humans for breakfast, lunch and dinner. And then had the audacity to try go into hiding when it came time to pay them back. His parents surely should have been dead by now, but they offered up their young, good looking son. And it just so happened the newly appointed mafia boss needed a spouse by his side. And who better than Alexander Barlowe, a young-looking elf. This was Alex's life now, and once again he was reminded of just how cruel the world can be.

The young boy sulked as he sat in the backroom with his parents of an old rickety church. He had no idea who this mafia boss was, never even seeing a picture of him. Apparently, anonymity until the actual day of the wedding was important. All Alex had was a name- Yuto Yamamoto. For all Alex new, this mafia boss probably looked like a deranged vampire with demonic, black eyes and deathly pale skin. His breath probably smelled off old blood and flesh. He grimaced at the thought, disgusting vampires and their horrible habits. To say that Alex was less than kind would have been an understatement. When his mother, Lisa Barlowe, tried for the hundredth time to fix his tie once again, Alex swatted her hand, and backed away from her. He glared at her, "Do not touch me..." He growled out, walking until he reached the furthest corner of the room to brood. If it was possible, then the 18 year old would have had a dark cloud over his white hair. "Alexander.." His father, Adam Barlowe's, deep voice echoed through the otherwise empty room, but Alex did not look phased in the slightest, crossing his arms and leaning up against the wall.

He kept his ocean colored eyes gazed at the floor, refusing to look either of his parents in the eyes. "I cannot believe you guys are really going to sell me like I am some piece of meat. To be a whore for some vampire criminal. Have you no shame? It is not my fault you guys raked up so much debt. Why do I have to pay the price?" Alex's voice gave off how pissed he was, his eyes narrowing but still geared towards the floor. "That is enough we have been through this." His dad said in a dismissive tone. "You are an elf, a rare commodity, and it was either this or you would have lost both of your parents. You will do this and accept your role for this family." Adam told Alex in a commanding tone, giving his son a hard look. Alex scoffed in response, shaking his head. "You are despicable." He growled at his dad, who clearly had enough of his son's attitude. Adam walked over to his son, and slapped him hard across the face. Alex whimpered a bit at the impact, but kept his head down. Lisa just watched on with a hard look in his eyes, as she always did when his dad got like this. "That is enough Alexander. You will shut up, do as you are told. Let your mother fix your clothes, so that you will look presentable. Do you understand?" Adam's intimidating voice rang deep in Alex's ears so badly that it made chills run down his spine. With his head still hung low, he answered his dad in a defeated tone, "Yes, sir..."
