Art of Grade Wielding

~Grade Wielding is an art of combat wherein which a person imprints their soul and worldly desires onto an inanimate object. This can be done consciously or subconsciously depending on the person~

~The worldly desires aspect manifests as an ability known as a Unique Trait. This ability is often times reflective of the person's characteristics, and in some cases, their deepest desires. Example being, a man who toiled away in study gave rise to the ability of Omniscience through a pair of prescription glasses~

~The soul aspect holds a more alarming perk that allows the individual to commune with whoever inherits the affected tool, even long after they've passed on. An additional ability can be granted this way by way of a pact, but unbeknownst to the receiver, once that pact has been completed, the deceased soul will resurrect, using their inheritor's own body as a vessel~

~So far, only one grade wielder has reached this level, that being Iris, who possessed a strong enough will to subjugate the foreign spirit trying to consume her, and retain her individuality~

~Pros and cons to resurrection~

~If a first generation grade wielder is able to subdue the spirit attempting to control them, they lose out on a particular advantage while also gaining a few~

~For starters, the abilities bestowed upon them by the grade weapon itself, become innate skills that their would be possessor simply forfeited in their botched attempt to seize control~

~Unique traits in weapon form can be abused without limit. It's an inexhaustible resource in combat but once a grade wielder integrates it, it becomes intertwined with their own magic pool, meaning they can only use it so long as they have magic left in the tank~

~On the flip side, unique traits in weapon form are also stagnant with no concept of growth. Once they've been integrated, they can be evolved further to compensate for any weaknesses in the base skill. Example being, Iris was able to remove the weakness of her fate manipulation by making it so threats to her are automatically detected and neutralized~

~Second generation grade wielders are not at risk of losing themselves as they take the lost battle art and imprint on a object of their choosing. It is effectively an extension of themselves and not a ghost of the past striking ill-fated deals. However, they lack pact related abilities as a result of this~
