Tara (Map & Break Down)

Tara is a vast world of 19 recognized territories.

This is a long list of the 19 Nations of Tara for skimming at the leisure of any who want a better understanding of the world. A reference map is included.

Glosnuut Empire

A sprawling Elven Empire its capital city Beleuiles hosts the most modern furnishings. Bustling cities brimming with lavish malls, colleges, and trade centers, public transport is a must as personal vehicles are prohibited. Elaborate subways lead you anywhere you want to go, and the occasional magic circle can teleport you to certain places for the right fee of course. While Closnuut is not anti-magic, their pursuit is in technology, they are closely allied with the Gnomes of Thoanthell.

With a murderous past, for an empire is not founded without blood, Glosnuut is at peace with most territories. Their wealth brings in trade from the East lands, and their technology oppresses those who may still hold grudges. They also host several high-tech gladiator arenas for those players of Exhalt to earn coin, fame, and glory. Their Emperor Erendriel Nordithas is born of a high and dark elf, though he favored high. As is tradition he is to take a dark elf wife but rumor has it he fancies a beautiful high elf diplomat's daughter. Will a civil war break out should he break a tradition that has not been broken since the founding of the Glosnuut Empire? Or has the distractions of modern technology washed away any sense of tradition from its inhabitants? There is still some racial disdain between the two sets of elves.

Largest source of revenue: Tourism & Exhalt.
Status: At Peace

Thoanthellese Rebublic

With no enemies except the church and a great amount of room for ports, this Gnomish Republic is the most technologically advanced territory in known existence. With anti-magic barriers extending throughout the land sealed tightly at its borders, certain folk have never seen inside its mostly suburban hollows. With some small villages still stuck in the past many cities like its capital city Shroudbarrow are tame compared to those of Glosnuut although still quite convenient. Here you will find tech outlets of all sorts, the oddest startups, and the quirkiest centers for research. Where every town even those not tech-inclined has a library, and the cities each have at least two. With a steady import from the East and consistent revenue exporting tech and services to the wealthy Empire of Glosnuut, Thoanthell truly has few concerns.

Its 4-foot multi-colored hair citizens grow all their food hydroponically, converting most of it into meal bars, shakes, or supplements. With every modest modern convenience and no fear of magic gnomes of Thoanthell ply whatever trade they choose, study, and live comfortable lives.

Its President Glitch Freak is a publically elected official who sits on a board with eight other elected gnomes.

Largest source of revenue: Export of technology
Status: Enemy of the Church, though the threat is mostly benign.

Goghean Holy State

The uppermost Northern continent of Tara is Goghe a holy state divided into purists and those who accept the magic of all races. Technically under control by the purists Gothes glistening capital of Swiftgate is a massive Magical college of learning under strict control of its Human Magus Pope Mythica a beautiful redhead with a drive to eradicate technology and keep the school Magus aka human only.

The west of Gothe is home to less Puritan values. It hosts an unofficial capital Meritide. Meritide is a college city composed of in and outdoor areas, lush gardens, and sprawling towers. All races who follow the religious code of Magic may study there.

Largest source of revenue: Export Magical Items and potions, Missionaries, and "donations" *tides*
Status: Declared war on Thoanthell

Commune of Ocjut

From Gothe came those who believe Magic to be of the old, and technology to be dangerous and doomed to end the world. People taught at both colleges, who left on a pilgrimage to reform the feeble-minded places like Glosnuut through appeal instead of violence, and teaching instead of war. This territory with its capital city Goldscar hosts missionaries and each city and town is a church. All people are welcome but no technology is to be brought within its borders. The punishment is purification.

Largest source of revenue: Missionaries, and donations
Status: Neutral

Free Territory of Yiaddam

On the Eastern Continent is the Free Territory of Yiaddam born to the harsh wilds of lush resources surrounded by barbarian and magus human tribes always at war with one another. Suffering raids from the Ogre nation of Bostrand and exposed to The Fruitless Wilds. Yiaddam is a collection of free markets, trades folk, trappers, miners, gathers, and hunters, sell swords, the working middle and lower classes which harvest all that makes other nations superbly wealthy while keeping them afloat. All races are the same here despite inner species quibbles and everyone who lives here is either brought by boat to strike out and find work, or descended from one of the many tribes in the area work to keep their nose down, ears up, eyes diligent, and their selves busy with work.

Some tawdry trade towns, the real jewel of the Free Territory is the capital city Fearbreak. A wealthy collective of mercenary and hunting guilds. From finding that perfect assassin to scoring some hard-won labor you didn't have to risk your neck for. Fearbreak hosts brawls, bars, taverns, a mix of low-tech and none at all, and good old fashion sell swords.

Largest source of revenue: Labourers, resources
Status: Anarchy

Bostrand

Home to the great ogre tribes, speckled with a few mixblood giants these fierce warriors are known for their might but their real danger is that every ten years a new one eye is born achieving a magic status generally unknown outside of the human Magi. These special magic users wield the power to infuse their clans with powerful gifts and make their already massive might make any they set their eye on crumble in dispair. Their Cheif Diabolite is known as one of the strongest Magi users to exist even among the human magi. Demanding even respect from the Pope herself. They have no anti-tech policy in their lands, but who would dare dream of visiting anyway? They spend the majority of their time raiding Yiaddam via their frail coastline, pillaging and taking all the spoils they need to keep themself sufficiently funded.

Largest Source of Revenue: Piracey and Raids
Status: At war with anyone touching their borders

Kosnaskia

The Kosnaskian Federation was formed by both the shield-wielding humans the Noder and the Magic-wielding humans the Maguslong back when the rest of the Eastern continent was nothing but wild monsters and violent tribes. Many many years have come since their capital city Edgevein was carved out of the marble mines, and risen to form a large spiraling tower barricaded by an impregnable fortress. So long that the church was formed from refugees who fled after a failed attempt to subjugate their golden-skinned shield-baring brethren. The inhabitants of Kosnaskia hold no ill will however towards the church, though missionaries are rarely warmly welcomed there.

For this Federation of allied humans has much more pressing concerns than decade-old grudges. They hold the land off from the Ogre in the East and spend many forces patroling their border from the more criminal types of Yiaddam. They are ruled by a fighter's guild called Landlight, and a Mages guild called Soundstorm. They allow free trade, but citizenship must be applied for. Anyone, not a citizen must be on their best behavior as travelers hold no rights in Kosnaskia unless awarded a passport. Their land has very little tech though they do not oppose it, and what they do have is often outdated by a decade or more. Still they host one of the finest cities on a continent filled with mostly chaos and tribes.

Largest Source of Revenue: Taxes
Status: At war with Ogre

Ecsata

The Ecsatan oligarchy ruled by Lords and Ladies of immense wealth.
With the protection of Kosnaskia, and access to hire massive amounts of trained guards from Yiaddam these wealthy aristocrats wile their days in their exotic lands dividing the bounty of all their land has to offer, including the majority of the populous who live as serfs and slaves. No one but the aristocracy is allowed to rise, all must serve, and the penalty of disservice or displeasure is death or slavery. Their immense wealth helps support Goghe's coffers making them politically untouchable by any who might dare.

Their most prized commodity is slaves. Their mages have the ability to subjugate those with a mark to life long slavery. Thus making their precious marked slaves saught after and quite pricey. While their mages might not have many other uses except for creating lavish displays for entertainment purposes, this one ability is a rather dangerous one.

Their capital city LostPort is a beautiful city of golden and silver palaces build upon a glimmering jeweled foundation set over tropical marshland which hugs the coast. Water fills the streets, rivers for roads, and a great massive aqueduct bridges the sea magically filtering the water which glistens like liquid diamond throughout their streets with beauty, the softest scent of Lilies, and spa-like qualities.

Large water gardens fill the empty spaces between the palaces of Lost port, of risen marble, inlaid with shimmering opal designs mesmerizing to the eyes. With trees of all kinds of luscious fruit, small circular green gardens of voluptuous and bright seductive flowers, and large always heated open-air baths to lounge in.

Here there is never a night without a party, or a day without amusing delights, at least for those who reign.

Largest Source of Revenue: Slaves

"For all that shimmers there is that which bleeds beneath it."

Crushed against the coast and The Fruitless Wilds only the tip of it's highest finger of land brushing against that of their fair-haired Magus cousins. The Human Principality of Xoctuth is a magicless place. It's Prince Orkun with his dark golden skin and flame-filled silver eyes rules with the birthright that all which he owns or touches is devoid of magic. The Church says The Norde bloodline spawns from a curse, but the Norde believe it is the favor of the great eternal that has touched them with their brute strength and magicless frames.

From the bowels of the thrown in Rockhold, Xoctuth's capital city its people live with no tech, nor magic. Instead, they produce the most brutal warriors Tara has ever known. They frown upon the Church and its followers are not welcome. Followers of the church are sent to their Ecsatan brothers to be marked as slaves and sent back. these slaves are rarely needed as the Norde pride themselves on working their own land and fighting their own wars. Instead, they are status symbols owned by the wealthy or important. Living entertainment killed or abused at a moment's notice, used to fight each other like dogs, or to dance for the humor of it.

Riding the coast beneath Xoctuth are the lands of the Celceean Council. Formed as an embassy when the Western continent first broke land upon the East these are what remains of the Firestarter people, A Nagna race of fire Magi who eat, breathe, and can sleep in flames of their own creation. Their land is fraught with magic, and most of it is untamed, even the small villages broken apart are nomadic and travel about their small lands left to them. In and out of The Fruitless Wilds. Ruled by Etshi Mistress of their Mages council, a seeress, and fire mage of much renown. They are not entirely without tech but it is rare, outside the capital. Their silver grass and white skies bleed endlessly together over the waves of hills some as high as mountain tops. Their capital city Starside surrounds a massive stained glass and golden palace, of countless gardens and rooms all in which trade from all over is conducted in the most serious of ways. Volqu

The uppermost Western part of Tara holds the Volguan Chancellery. While no one knows who created, or manages Exhalt, picks the players, or how or why they do someone has to profit from it, right? Volqu is a company that took charge of this. First starting as a unified set of researchers and traders who were given the territory four years ago to study and look into Exhalt. Slowly fans and fanatics flooded the area. Soon it spilled over widening its borders annoyingly so, but not enough to cause trouble. Volqu stepped in and took charge forming a Chancellery government, financed entirely by proceeds from Exhalt, top players and researchers all pass through here at some point. No one has more information, hidden or available to be shared on Exhalt than Volqu. Though who actually the Chancellor is.. well no one really knows?
