Shinigami Eyes - In exchange for half of her lifespan, Misa is able to see the name and date of natural death of anyone she sees. Her eyes look completely normal when she is using her ability.
Personality;
Misa is an outgoing, cheerful, and popular young woman. She's impulsive and energetic, which often makes people think she is an idiot. Misa is smarter than she lets on, but her specialty relies in social manipulation rather than mind games and logic.
Despite being so cheerful, Misa went into a deep depression after the death of her parents. While she tries to be cheerful still, the trauma of the situation had affected her deeply. Misa is very reckless with life, both her own and others.
History;
Misa had a normal childhood, until she was 17. Her family's home was broken into and Misa hid in a closet, but her parents were not so lucky. From her hiding spot, Misa watched both her parents be brutally slaughtered. She was quickly able to help the police identify the culprit, yet the trial did not go smoothly. The only evidence for his crimes was Misa's testimony, which the defense argued was unreliable from her position in the closet. The trial was long and no one could make a decision.
During this, Misa was continuing her emerging modeling and acting career. One evening, a man followed Misa home with a knife. He attempted to kill her, claiming to be in love with her. Misa screamed and fought, yet before the man could make the killing blow, he dropped over dead. There was a notebook on the ground, which Misa picked up. Once she touched it, a creature named Rem appeared. She is a god of death - or Shinigami - and explained what she had was a Death Note - the same weapon that had been used to save her. Another Shinigami named Gelus had used it to save her, killing himself in the process as Shinigami die if they interfere in the natural time of death of a human. Rem promised to stay by her side, as a human wielder of the Death Note must be accompanied by a Shinigami.

Misa believed Rem wholeheartedly, having seen the power of the Death Note firsthand. The first name she wrote in it was the man who murdered her family, indicating that the man should die of a heart attack. The man's sudden death stunned the world, but there was no indication that he had died of anything but a heart attack. So Misa kept going, writing down the name of criminal after criminal. Under the alias of Kira, Misa is determined to improve the world under any means necessary.

Misa kept the notebook, but was hesitant to use it. However, Rem informed her she was not the only one with a notebook. Someone called Kira had been using it to kill criminals. One day, Misa received a call and was informed the newest victim of Kira was the man who murdered her parents. Misa became devoted to Kira wholeheartedly and began to act as the second Kira, murdering criminals with her notebook.
Misa tracked down the original Kira, a man named Light. She promised to serve under him as his partner in crime, as long as she could be his girlfriend. Now a couple, Misa continues her crimes while attempting to avoid being caught by the police.
