 SOCIABLE VS. INTIMATE:

Describes social interactions.

   ⁍ INTIMATE

Benji prefers time spent either alone or in a small group of people instead of large gatherings. He recharges in solitude and likes to have time to process decisions, the future, and calm his mind. Even though he likes being alone, he is not a hermit. He values close friendships and will do everything to maintain them. When there’s a strong connection between people; he may behave extrovertedly.

Describes actions in social situations.

   ⁍ INITIATING

Benji is an initiating personality that takes the lead in social interactions. He can easily strike conversations with strangers and will be the life of the party, including dancing at clubs. If people seem uninterested and bored in his presence, he will suggest something to boost the energy so everyone enjoys the gathering. He finds it easy to form new friendships. He’s comfortable in formal and informal settings.

Describes normal level of activity and desire for excitement and outside stimulation.

Benji is a dynamic personality that seeks out different, unplanned adventures and stimulating environments. He likes to engage and explore instead of staying in one place for too long. When in boring environments, he may become bored and feel sedated. Benji prefers having multiple occupational tasks to keep himself busy. This includes taking many clients a day to keep his mind busy with sketching and tattooing. If Benji focuses on one activity for too long, he feels bored and tired. Benji likes change and will either change his clothing style or hairstyle often. He is likely to be open with certain topics about himself.

Benji has an imaginative mindset and often loses track of time with his flowing imagination. He finds more importance on originality, elegance, and beauty instead of a high gpa or a huge salary. He’s told to be more practical but that criticism by others doesn’t bother him. He gets easily entertained with games, television shows, and his own imagination. Away from his work, he indulges in spray painting abandoned trains and vehicles at junk yards to practice different forms of art.

Benji has a theoretical mindset meaning he doesn’t truly know someone unless he sees past their surface. He doesn’t like doing something without explanations of why he should do it. When traveling, Benji prefers learning about history to deepen his experience. He hates site seeing without knowing the background knowledge of something. He’s the same way with works of art and music and his tastes revolve around the deeper meaning of what is expressed. Benji struggles to appreciate everyday occurrences. He might see something beautiful but he’s unsatisfied until he understands the reasons behind it.

Describes if certain aspects are accepted or are needing to be changed and improved.

Benji is guided by emotions meaning his emotions and passions bring his world to life. He’s drawn to things that engage him on an emotional level. He loses interest in informational connections. He’s drawn to people, places, and activities that trigger emotions. He believes emotional connections can create a deeper understanding than words. Benji’s emotions go from debilitating lows to exhilarating highs. When his friends are distressed he tends to focus on their feelings rather than solving their problems. He will show empathy and validation before thinking of solutions. However, his sympathy can be enabled and can easily get burned out by other people’s problems.

Benji is a harmonious personality that takes other people’s feelings into consideration and will encourage and support his friends. When asking for his true opinions, Benji may hold back a negative criticism because he doesn’t want to upset someone. With groups of friends he does his best to maintain harmony. He tries to keep his relationships strong by being considerate and tactful. Although he likes to create harmony, he does not steer away from competition and doesn’t feel bad about making his friends lose to him. But, if he believes someone deserves an accomplishment more than him, he will think about letting that person win because of his kindheartedness.

Being a stoic personality, Benji strives to maintain his cool no matter what emotions he is feeling. He isn’t able to keep every emotion in check but he’s able to remain his poker face. He shows displeasure in indirect ways and will ignore someone who bothers him. To show he cares for someone he will offer big bear hugs.

His stoic inclinations come from a desire to protect his inner life or avoid being hurt. He finds the need to shield parts of himself from his friends. His personality contains both a flat, controlled exterior and an emotional, uncontrolled exterior depending on the situation or emotion. Benji has STRONG, PASSIONATE feelings. When strong feelings arise, he will instinctively or subconsciously try to repress them. If his emotions emerge in full force, he can’t control them. This discomforting part of him leads him to believe that his emotions are unacceptable.

Describes whether someone is likely to plan things out or take them as they come.

Benji is a spontaneous man, he rarely makes detailed plans because he finds them tiresome. He enjoys figuring things out on a whim. He is productive when he addresses something urgent and interesting. Planning sounds counterproductive and unnecessarily restrictive.

Describes whether someone prefers to make up their mind quickly or prolong decisions.

Benji likes to keep his options open. He’s not against taking actions with his decisions but he feels it limits his freedom by making them too soon. Pressure in making final decisions bothers him to the point he is relieved when someone decides for him.

Benji’s whimsical mindset causes his priorities to shift frequently. To him some commitments will seem like a good idea at one time but certain situations may arise and change his mind. Benji’s tastes and interests change frequently and sometimes unpredictably.

With his doubtful personality, he’s aware of his limitations or what he perceives them to be. Benji suffers from self-doubt that can leave him anxious. That anxiousness can hinder his pursuit of goals and make him less trustful in his relationships. He will seek external opinions about his abilities. The man is sensitive to what people say towards him. He’s more likely to see negative judgements as true and positive ones as incomplete.

Feeling upset, in mercy of emotions, and afraid are common feelings for Benji. He may rely on his friends and family for sources of stability and optimism that he’s not able to provide himself. Due to those feelings, he spends a fair amount of time worrying about his future. Having an agitated personality can often leave Benji feeling triggered by unexpected events can cause his emotional state to descend into turmoil. During those times, Benji will find it hard to perform his best because of the tension.To help with these instances, he practices mindful exercises, works out, and has therapeutic conversations.

Thinking about the past is common for Benji. Late at night he spends time reviewing events and decisions that have already occurred. Instead of replaying memories, he deeply examines what happened and how the situation could have changed. Benji will forgive others for their mistakes but he has trouble forgiving himself for making them. Most people can move past a humiliating incident but for him, they haunt and cause gut-sinking feelings in his stomach.

Benji’s primary coping strategy is emotional coping. This means accepting emotions and letting them be active with either stress, grief, or anger rather than being detached from the feelings.

His prominent secondary coping Mechanism is Avoidant. Benji will throw himself into new activities or fill his mind to the brim until there is no room left for his emotional turmoil. However, from ignoring his root problem, they tend to grow more severe each time.

Even though Benji is emotional he is still able to separate himself from his emotions in order to make decisions. His last coping mechanism is detachment. When he’s detached, he tends to act colder or bland.

Weaknesses: unrealistic, self-isolating, unfocused, emotionally vulnerable, self-critical, and desperate to please.

To put it shortly, Benji is a hopeless romantic. He doesn’t want to waste his time with one night stands but he will engage in them at times. Truthfully though, he wants to connect with a soul mate. One that will love every single part of him. Benji is not open about his sexuality. In relationships, making an effort is one of his love languages. He appreciates someone who is willing to compromise, understand, and work through each hardship they might have. He’s the type of man that wants his partner to learn, grow, and pursue the goals that make them happy. Since Benji is a harmony over disagreement kind of guy, this could lead to problems in his relationships. Instead of openly talking about his troubles or feelings, he will mentally fixate his problem on his own. Being the way he is, he may focus on making his partner happy but forget his own priority and sense of self.

Benji is a warm and accepting man but he may feel empty when it comes to casual friendships. He is on the look for authentic relationships with people that love and care for him just as much as he does them. If Benji is befriending your character, he’s secretly hoping he’s allowed to keep a strong, stable friendship with them. Benji isn’t confrontational when it comes to telling people off for himself but he will become confrontational if someone messes with the friends he loves.
