joey was born in japan, his mother being born and raised there, and his father living in the united states primarily. he was 2 years old when his mother gave birth to his sister, jolyne. after his sister's death when he was 17 years old, him and his mother moved to the US to live with his father. he attended public school until dropping out in his junior year due to medical complications.

he started his social transition at 14 years old, his mother fully supporting him, and his father ignoring the situation in itself. after moving to the US (age 17), he started testosterone, and at 18, with financial support from his employer, he underwent a successful top surgery. since moving out, he has been closeted and extremely hesitant to open up about his transition. his attire usually consists of t-shirts, thrifted button-ups, and whatever clean pants he has. his hair is unkempt most of the time.
