Fantasy:

1. The Evil Overlord
Fire and brimstone, darkness and inhospitable lands, the Evil Overlord usually lives in a realm that reflects their wicked intentions, surrounded by their minions and followers. The Evil Overlord is also often bent on world domination. As opposed to anti-villains who are morally grey, the Evil Overlord is, well, pure evil.

Tell the Truth
2. Anything can become true if enough people believe it strongly and deeply enough. The antagonist becomes aware of this and begins to manipulate the population to create the world he want

3. Trusting the Humans
Magical beings are the ruling class on earth. Governments are run by them. Those without powers are considered useless, second class citizens and generally live in poverty. There is a single source of power for the entire realm (perhaps an object, or a place). One day, the power source is taken over by dark forces. They cast a spell on the source that uses the power of anyone who tries to touch it against them.

4. Unlikely Partners
Your main character is left in the forest to die, as the annual sacrifice to the god of the forest. The god shows up, but this year he is not interested in the death of his sacrifice. He is looking for a new servant and/or sidekick.

5. In a medieval world, full of what the public claims as peace, everything seems to run smoothly. Small villages and towns governed and protected by the king live in peace with one another and everyone in them. Except for those who are special. Till a few years before hand, the king ruled by the side of his wife until she was murdered by the banned magic of dark magic. The killer was smart and never found and the king was left on his own without his beloved breathing another breath. Out of hatred and anger, the king banned all use of magic and called for the death of those who could use it. (Oof, a bit Merlin-ish now that I think about it) Many died and years later they believe they have eradicated all whom can use magic, except for a few people living in hiding. Character A may work for the king, paid to hunt down and kill anyone found using magic. Somehow, they get injured, and is located by Character B, who, of course, is skilled in those arts. B knows the dangers of exposing themselves, but can't let A die, so they save A's life, but are frightened of what may happen next. Plot would extend from there

6. A peaceful nation has existed as it is for centuries. Which makes it all the more shocking when the great towers of the council chamber fall, casting the city into chaos. By mid day it is clear that a great force of some sort has conquered the once great city and you and the rest of the survivors are left to fend for themselves in the wilds outside your home

Romance:
1. It was supposed to be sex only… they were going to be friends with benefits, or maybe he’s a male escort. Falling in love goes against the original arrangement.

2. Their love was supposed to be fake… they were pretending to be in love or married, or they entered a marriage of convenience. It can’t be real, can it? On a related note

3. They have terrible first impressions of one another… and it’s a little hard to admit they were wrong. They might have gotten off to an awful start by arguing over something.
