BACKGROUND:
Katie was raised just like anyone else in Carthage, New York. She was a quick-learning gymnast with a passion for the sport- but it wasn't until she was a close victim of the Joker on a school trip that she was inspired by none other than The Batman to become a superhero. Giving up her young dream of being a Meteorologist, or well at her young age, a beautiful weatherwoman. Because of this newfound inspiration- she began to take gymnastics more seriously than ever before, training way higher than her age group until she was 18.
She moved to Gotham at 18 and trained her way through college while obtaining her journalism degree, which she obtained at 22 years old! She started by solving petty crimes like robberies, gang activity, and so on in a homemade costume made from her favorite white gym leotard- until she was 23, when she was 24 she started joining the other heroes on higher scale crimes, mobs, an encounter with Harley Quinn, and so on. Which would require a much better costume as the old one was continuously being torn, stained, and just a pain in the ass to keep pristine… why did she have to pick white?!
This was the start of Katie finding different BatToys, which she would take home, fix up, and attach to her new one-piece suit which paid light homage to the original with its light bedazzlement across the white, hooded getup. The only original piece to stay was the white fabric mask, now with an added eyelash effect to feature some kind of expression on the mask. At this point, she was given the name of The White Phantom, and she just went with it as it matched her white mask and suit.
At 25 was when she had her first encounter with Batman and his circus of sons, only crossing paths before leaving without a word. By this time Kate had collected enough server data to make her own “Pocket Watch” which had become a collective for villainous activity within Gotham. With this she had become able to take down multiple plans from the Riddler, Penguin, Deadshot, etc… by either getting the information early enough to get to the site early, or simply sending off the information to the Batcave, or GCPD to handle it as Katie White would save the “Insider Information” for her report over the situation the following day.
Right before her 26th birthday, it seemed the past came to catch up with her. Oblivious to what was going on in Gotham as she had just gotten back to her apartment, a bomb had gone off in her building. She woke up days later with a gift-wrapped box next to her, inside was a new suit and a better mask. She never figured out who had sent it, which made her fear putting the suit on even months later. She was able to move to a new house, and she had healed almost entirely… but she wasn't sure if she could continue being the White Phantom.
