Backstory:
- Born in Crossmaglen, South Armagh, Northern Ireland, he had a rough childhood growing up poor in the 1990s. Born in 1993, he was born into some of the roughest violence of "The Troubles", especially as the village he grew up in was one of the the strongholds of the IRA South Armagh Brigade. Born into a Catholic family, his family were Republican supporters, and he grew up with an intense dislike of authority. Growing up surrounded by members of the IRA, he often looked up to them, not knowing who his father was, he often looked to these men as father figures. His mother had always told him he was the son of Thomas Murphy, a high ranking member of the IRA, but he was never legally linked to Murphy or the IRA. On June 24th 1998, his mother was murdered by an IRA bomb in Newtonhamilton, South Armagh. He was taken into care, but was eventually sent to New York to live with a long lost uncle.

Moving to Queens, New York City when he was just 8, his uncle, a police officer, sought to make him respect authority more, and drop his pro-IRA stance. For a long time, Cody refused to believe his mother had been murdered by the IRA. He was convinced it was a fake attack by the Loyalist UVF Mid-Ulster Brigade, which is what he'd been told in the immediate aftermath of the attacks. He refused to accept it for a long time, never truly admitting that people he'd looked up to as father figures had killed his mother.

After doing very well in school, despite not trying very hard, he was offered a scholarship to a number of Colleges across the country, but instead elected to stay and join the force at the age 21 in 2011. He cut his teeth working with the Drug and Gang task forces before taking his detectives exam at 23, just 2 years after joining the force. in 2015 he was placed into the New York City Police Department Organized Crime Control Bureau (OCCB), his first case was taking down an Irish mob outfit working out of his old neighbourhood.

Throughout his childhood and early adulthood, he'd always managed to keep close relationships with some of the members of the IRA he'd known as a child, some of them had moved up the ranks and become shot callers. He began infiltrating their organisation after joining the OCCB, pretending to be a bent cop, fallen out of love with the job, wanting to help "the cause". He approached his superiors for a cover story, and they organised a couple of fake Civilian Complaint Review Board reports that had meant he'd been "officially" benched, with his job only saved by his uncle, a high ranking member of the NYPD. His transfer to the OCCB was top secret, known to very few people. He continually straddles the line, bringing down the IRA's rivals in return for money, but also in return gathering information that would topple their state side operation.

Power:
Having grown up in Queens, he was familiar with lots of drug dealers in the city, and knew to stay clear of them. Tommy and Ghost were older than him, and he knew to steer clear. Cody and Tommy cross paths again when they meet at a church function held by Father Callahan, who alongside being a drug dealer, was a trusted member of a republican sympathist group, helping send money to the IRA. Part of Ghost and Tommy's organisation as an informant.

Sons of Anarchy:
Cody regularly works with members of the New York City chapter of the Sons of Anarchy motorcycle club. Often working with the SOA and IRA to stay off NYPD and ATF radar. He's close friends with some of the members, having grown up with a couple in Queens.
