⤿ Growing up, Hawke was always advanced in his intelligence. Keeping his species low key was easier and hunters believed that they had wiped them out near completely. So he grew as a normal child, being brilliant through all of his schooling and college.
⤿ In college, he met a girl named Saphira, and he fell in love with her. She was smart, beautiful and strong. She wasn't a dragon but he learned that she was a phoenix, even more rare than what he was. She learnt what he was, and it drew them closer.
⤿ Saphira was with him for ten years, before hunters discovered her. In order to protect him, she broke off the relationship and fled. This left him in ruines, and it almost jepodized his job due to how he spun out of control.
⤿ It was nearly 3 years later he became one of the top of the law firm, close to running it. The offer came to pass where he could take over, but he declined. He didn't believe he was ready for that step yet.
⤿ When he didn't physically age, Hawke began to move law firms, always ensuring he only spent a few years at a time, before moving on. It was over a hundred years later, with countless flings but no serious relationship that he met Jasmine, another of his kind.
⤿ Jasmine fought for him hard, and eventually, he came to open up to her. And eventually, he fell in love for the second time. They worked together, him helping her become a better lawyer, and him learning to love again.
⤿ 3 years later, she found out she was pregnant, and Hawke couldn't be more happy. He proposed, knowing he would be with her until the end, and wanting the best for her and his child.
⤿ They arranged for the marriage to take place after the child was born, just wanting to focus on the baby first. Once they found out it was a girl, Jasmine decided the name Carla Grace Melendez, which Hawke loved.
⤿ On the day of the birth, it turned out to be a miracle, but a tragedy at the same time. Whilst the baby was born healthy, Jasmine died on the table, birthing complications having taken his fiance.
⤿ He lost his love, again, but this time, he had Carla, the child now being the only thing to keep him grounded. Hawke never dealt with the death of his fiance, since he decided he couldn't let that break him down, having to be strong for his daughter.
⤿ He stopped work, well enough to care for his daughter. At the same time, he closed off from the world, refused to let anyone in, that's the only way he can cope.
