Backstory/History:
Born a half-elf, the bastard child of a monarch who took a fancy to an elven maiden early on in his rule, Ellyra was a spunky, independent child. She spent her childhood tolerated more than anything (especially considering her minor magical abilities) as the sole heir, but eventually a legitimate child came along, and though her "parents" kept her on for appearances, she left, striking out on her own. Shortly thereafter, she was disowned, to no one's surprise.

During her stay at the palace, she was able to garner combat training with a variety of blades, via the retired captain of the city guard, who took a liking to her when she once snuck into his house. She had been little more than a child, seeking a hiding place from the chaperones that constantly trailed her. The man (Gerald) was more of a father figure to her than her own, and is currently the only person from her old life that she remains in contact with.

Now she seeks a home of her own, a place for her and her young brother to belong. Her mother died a year after she left, leaving her a younger half-brother, but Gerald offered to care for the toddler, preventing the difficulty of free-lancing with a little boy to look after. Life as a young girl on her own is rough, but with a combination of cleverness, wit, and magic, she has managed to make her way in the world.
