Edward "Eddie" Stubblefield, more commonly known as Stubbs, is a zombie and the protagonist of Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse.
Stubbs is a tall, skinny man with black hair and blue eyes. Being a zombie, he has green skin and wears a torn-up brown suit along with a matching fedora, which he seems very attached to. The left side of his torso has a hole in it, revealing where Otis shot him. He is also is wearing a red tie which is commonly refered to as "ugly" by other characters, although Stubbs himself finds it "incredibly stylish". He also drags his left leg due it possibly being broken. Stubbs also smokes a cigarette while roaming around, the smoke from which wafts out of his body cavity. Some other bones and organs are sticking out of Stubbs, for example, his spine is sticking out of his back and his pancreas is sticking out the side of his body.
In 1933, Eddie Stubbs was a poor traveling salesman during the Great Depression trying to make a living. While visiting a farmhouse in rural Pennsylvania, he temporarily finds happiness with a girl named Maggie Monday, but he meets his unfortunate end when Otis, Maggie's father, comes home, chases him outside, and murders him, dumping his body in the wilderness, unaware that he impregnated Maggie.
26 years after his death, Andrew Monday, Maggie's son, built a city on top of his not-so-final resting place. In 1959, just minutes after the cities opening ceremony, Stubbs rose from his grave, interrupting a couple who were sharing a hot dog when his hand emerges from the ground, comically snatching the hotdog from their hands. One of the Guidebots saw what happened and, after scolding him, took the hotdog. However, one of the teenagers, Ted, proceeds to yell at him, resulting in his demise at the hands of Stubbs, while the other teen, Judy, flees. Despite his appearance and actions, the Guidebot decides to give him a tour of the city. Not long after the tour begins Stubbs is stopped by two police officers, who, thinking him a bum and not wanting to touch him, comically turn around and wait for him to enter the police car, prompting an abrupt lobotomy courtesy of Stubbs. This action alarms the four nearby officers who draw their weapons and order him to freeze. Using his gas power he disables them, eats their brains, and continues the 'tour.'
