"You don't know your place, You're just a human! Hell wouldn't accept you!"

Alucard (アルカード written in Japanese) is the protagonist of the work "Hellsing", being considered the strongest vampire in existence, in addition to possessing restraint abilities. Working in the Hellsing organization, the character faithfully follows the orders of his master, Integra, having a good relationship for years. Although the past of our interpreter is not revealed, we know that he ended up drinking the blood of a vampire and, with that, became the creature he hates so much. Showing a remarkable admiration for humans, Alucard hunts his own race, not hesitating to humiliate the bloodsuckers encountered throughout the animation. Furthermore, because he is part of the affiliation that fights against these vampiric beings, the character is considered the main enemy of the Vatican, as Father Alexander Anderson tried, in every way, to exterminate him, something that made our protagonist happy, as he sought to a strong human to fight against. As seen in the last episode of the animation, Alucard became more powerful after absorbing Schrödinger's abilities, thus acquiring omnipresence. Finally, its former owner had put seals on his gloves, because the man's power was too strong, so, if he needed to use it, the vampire would need to break the seals of restrictions, however, "level 0" can only be authorized by a vampire. Integra, its current master. Also known as Dracula himself, he has several opponents who aim to defeat him, as in the case of Luke Valentine and Alexander Anderson, in addition to the animation villain, Major.

The universe of Hellsing (written through the kanji ヘルシング and pronounced in Japanese as "Herushingu") began in 1997, with the publication of the first manga of the work, written and illustrated by Kouta Hirano, and the release ended only in 2008 with a total of ten volumes. In the meantime (2001-2006), a pre-sequel was written by the same author called Hellsing: The Dawn and an anime was developed by the GONZO studio, released between 2001 and 2002 and having ten episodes in total. With the work well underway and becoming one of the main names in the seinen demographic, there was the creation of an OVA called Hellsing: Ultimate, which alternated directors between episodes and had the participation of three development studios, finishing the project with ten episodes that vary 40 to 60 minutes long. The main story of the universe revolves around Hellsing, an organization in England responsible for dealing with supernatural creatures such as vampires and ghouls, and its main offensive weapon, Alucard, an extremely powerful, skilled and experienced vampire, while trying to maintain order. in the British lands and faces other organizations that are against the principles of Hellsing or that just want to create political conflicts and wars.

Alucard has a tall stature and a lean physique, being similar to Luke Valentine, his "rival". In particular, the design of this character was incredible, as, on several occasions, the vampire's arms appear disproportionate to the body, thus making him darker at night. Enjoying a beautiful aesthetic, our interpreter has dark hair strands that reach waist height, being thick and messy. His skin is pale and his eyebrows are thin, almost imperceptible during the animation, because the hat ends up covering them. Finally, his eyes are small and have a reddish pigmentation, similar to the color of blood, standing out because of their pupils when the man removes his glasses. Living millennia of years, the character has a strange physiognomy while wearing his clothes, since they cover a large part of the body, in fact, he manages to regenerate them. In addition, like any other vampire, Alucard also contains fangs, using them to suck the blood of his victims, in addition to killing them by ripping pieces of the neck. Finally, his physiognomy hasn't changed much over the years, because it has kept the same characteristics as when he was human, some 500 years before the events of Hellsing. As for his clothes, Alucard, throughout the animation, was seen wearing normal clothes, such as: a scarlet-colored suit, wearing a white long-sleeved shirt and a red tie around his neck. As part of his look, the man also wears a small yellowish glasses that serve to hide his eyeballs, in addition to having, on his head, a large red hat. When his restriction is released, the protagonist ends up losing his clothes, leaving only a black leather "jumper".

Alucard, throughout the plot, was shown to be someone sadistic and cruel, as he did not care about his victims, even making jokes when they were desperate. The character takes pleasure when his foe asks for leniency, and he is glad to do so. In addition, during the animation, the man did not show any remorse when executing his own race, in fact, in the first episode of the work, his sadistic attitudes are remarkable, capable of doing everything to make others feel pain, as seen after Seras was captured by a vampire, when he shot the girl in the lung, causing the bullet to pass through her and, consequently, killing the leech. Possessing this personality, Alucard only longed to find an opponent strong enough to utilize his vampiric powers, however, none could confront him for long. In one episode, the man ended up facing Luke Valentine, a member of the Millennium organization, who had some remarkable techniques, because he was able to amuse our interpreter a bit. Not only that, Alucard released some "restrictions", thinking he was a powerful opponent, however, he found himself deceived.

Even containing insane behavior, the interpreter showed feelings, as he tried to protect his teammates, especially his master. In the first episode, we can see that the protagonist felt sorry for Seras, because she turned her into a servant so she wouldn't die. Something notable during the animation is that Alucard hates all vampires, not caring about killing his fellow vampires, sketching sadistic features while exterminating the creatures. Considering them inferior, our interpreter sees leeches only as “garbage”, because they allow themselves to be transformed on purpose in an attempt to acquire power, as in the case of the German army. On the other hand, the character considers the human race weak, however, he has a lot of admiration for it, as they try to face problems that are impossible to solve, such as old age and its fragile body. Featuring several special abilities, it is normal for our vampire to lower his guard, thus, underestimating that weak opponent, an act seen when he was beheaded by Father Anderson. However, because he has the ability to regenerate, Alucard, most of the time, lets himself be hit by opponents, causing them to celebrate that victory, so when the moment comes, he regains consciousness and kills them.

Little is revealed about Alucard's past in the original anime and OVA, in addition to the manga and its prequel, however, it is known that in his childhood he was still not recognized by that name - this is his correspondent after he turn into a vampire — and he was called Vlad III. He used to attend the Catholic church, but this was most likely mandatory, as the young man was treated badly and sometimes he was even the victim of the priest's disease, which had a huge psychological impact on the boy. Decades later, Vlad III became the commander of an army - not specified in the work - and fought the Ottomans, keeping in mind that faith in God should be shown in practice and not just through prayers and prayers. His men were eventually defeated in combat and he was captured and sentenced to hang, his execution taking place late one afternoon and Vlad watching the sunset as he was beheaded. Little is explained about this moment, only that he dared to drink some of the blood that stained the wood on the floor and after that we only know that he survived and became a vampire.

Although Alucard's past has not been fully revealed, we do know that he was imprisoned for years in the Hellsing organization's dungeon. At one point, the father of the current director, Integra Fairbrook, revealed that she had trapped a powerful weapon underground, so if she was in serious trouble, she would need to investigate it. When the girl's uncle tried to kill her to keep the affiliation, Hellsing decided to flee towards the dungeon, however, the man ended up finding her trapped there and, after a dialogue, he shot her in the arm, doing the blood falls on the body of the secret weapon, Alucard. Finally, as he was about to die, the interpreter regained consciousness and, consequently, acquired his usual vitality, thus “killing” the boy. Having ingested Integra's blood as a "contract", the woman became his master, commanding him since the event. After several years, the vampire became known due to his abilities, as he was practically immortal, soon he was considered the "ace" of the organization.

When a small village was being attacked by a vampire who turned people into "zombies", the organization's leader, Integra, ended up calling Alucard to solve the problem, so when a policewoman had been surrounded by the enemies, the interpreter appeared at that location. and started firing several shots, easily killing the ghouls with his silver bullets. Then, an opposing vampire was holding the policewoman, called Seras, asking Alucard to close his eyes, otherwise he would kill the innocent, however, Alucard shot the policewoman, piercing her and the vampire's lungs. Knowing that the girl would die, the interpreter drank her blood, saving her from death and consequently turning her into his servant. As days passed, Seras developed her skills thanks to Alucard, helping her new master.

As already mentioned, the man has remarkable powers, being able to easily overcome opponents, since Alucard has several restrictions, in fact, in the last episode of the work, the interpreter acquired the power of omnipresence. In these skills, he has shown himself to be adept at handling firearms, utilizing pistols made by the Hellsing organization's butler, containing appropriate bullets to exterminate vampires. In addition, the protagonist has the ability to regenerate the body, however, unlike the other creatures present in the work, the man is able to resurrect, a fact seen in the confrontation involving Father Alexander, who was decapitated by the agent. As he is practically immortal, the man likes to risk his skin, making enemies strike using everything they have, so when they are off guard, the character counterattacks, being the strategy that Alucard uses most throughout the animation. Not depending only on his pistols, the vampire has high strength compared to others, in addition to having assassination techniques, as he always struck the opponent's heart when he was close enough. Aiming to find someone strong, the character releases restrictions only when the enemy is a match, an act seen when facing Luke Valentine, the vampire who claimed to be able to defeat him, however, ended up being disappointed by the ridiculous abilities. It is worth noting that Alucard is not immortal, as it was mentioned in the plot that the boy absorbed the lives of those bitten by him, thus prolonging his existence for the thousands of victims. Finally, being part of the Hellsing organization, the vampire had his powers "sealed" in four levels that can be released as needed.

➣ Weapon Handling: Being one of the most used means in the series, Alucard “needs” his pistols during confrontations, in which the vampire demonstrated complete control over their handling, in addition to having an extraordinary aim. Initially, the character used two melee weapons, however, at a certain point in the story, the organization's butler manufactured a new weapon for the boy, considered more powerful than the previous one.

➣ Regeneration: Possessing the highest regeneration among all vampires, Alucard is considered almost immortal, as he returns from the dead even if he is decapitated, as seen in the first episode of the animation. Furthermore, because he has this advanced skill, the man lets himself be hit on purpose by opponents, so when they are off guard, he counterattacks.

➣ Omnipresence: As mentioned, Alucard acquired this ability at the end of the animation, more precisely after absorbing Schrödinger's powers, thus making him omnipresent.

➣ Intangibility: this skill does not apply in fights, however, we can see that Alucard can emerge from shadows in places, in addition to being able to walk through walls, as seen when hiring the mercenary team.

➣ Lives: something said in the work, Alucard ended up stealing the lives of his opponents who were devoured, causing him to increase his remaining life time. Having killed millions of people, man acquired a certain immortality when he confronts an opponent, since it is necessary to kill him 3,424,867 times. Living "thousands" of years, it was easy for the vampire to acquire such numbers, as it has existed since ancient times.

➣ Summons: presented in the last episode, Alucard had the ability to summon all those who were killed by him, thus creating the army of victims mentioned in the previous topic. Because this technique is highly destructive, the character can only release it when it breaks all of Hellsing's seals, thus using the level 0 restriction.

➣ Shadow Manipulation: As seen, Alucard can transform his own body into shadow, becoming immune to enemies' physical attacks, in addition to being able to summon his servants from the dark layer.

➣ Shapeshifting: Alucard can transform into any living being he wants, like the bats seen in the first episode. Furthermore, our interpreter has taken the form of an innocent girl, appearing to be someone Walter knows, and when the level 0 restriction is released, the vampire takes on his former face, namely Count Dracula.

➣ Weather Control: Being another unique ability, Alucard can change the weather according to his will, leaving a certain area with a gloomy appearance, as seen when returning from the sea while using a ship.

➣ Telekinesis and telepathy: demonstrated in the first episodes of the animation, the protagonist is able to control objects with the power of his mind, an act seen when closing the room where the police agents were. Furthermore, as training for her servant Seras, Alucard would mentally converse with the woman, giving specific orders and assisting her when necessary.

 ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄

➣ Below the star on Alucard's glove are the German words “Gott mit uns”, meaning “God with us”. Interestingly, these words were used by the German army until the end of World War II;

➣ Alucard's name is Dracula spelled backwards;

➣ Alucard's red costume, arrogant nature, position as a hunter of demonic forces despite being an untrue human being and his characteristic, dual-pistol wielding, makes him similar to Dante from Devil May Cry. It should be noted that the game came out several years after the Hellsing manga launched;

➣ Alucard has two pagan references; the most obvious is the pentagram symbol on his gloves, the second is his epithet "The bird of Hermes". Hermes was the Greek messenger god, known for his winged sandals and ability to fly. The deity was also used to transport souls to the underworld, while Alucard, in contrast, devours them.

Although it is very strong, something I found ridiculous was when Alucard managed to become popular among viewers because of this, because the anime has a lot of gore and, in this way, they put a merciless protagonist, killing any opponent without hesitation. Containing several notable abilities, the one that stood out the most was its level 0 restriction, because it summons an infinity of people, creating an army quickly. In addition, the interpreter is disgusted by his peers, taking pride in eliminating the monsters that appear throughout the animation, however, Alucard has shown respect for the human race, because they try to solve problems in the best way. I simply loved this character, as he presented a sadistic and arrogant personality, and it's a shame his past is "blank". At the beginning of the plot, Alucard seemed like just any protagonist, being even boring to follow his adventures, however, after showing his true behavior, I ended up clinging to the vampire. Another notable thing is his loyalty, because, even having an immeasurable power, our interpreter proved to be faithful to his master, Integra, as seen when provoked by Maxwell. Of course, containing several attractive characters in the work, what draws the public's attention the most is the protagonist himself, something considered normal in every manga/anime, however, this one contained charisma, easily conquering fans. It is worth remembering that Alucard always wanted to find an opponent strong enough, but everyone was weak and unable to fulfill his “dream”, however, he wanted to be defeated by humans, for example, Alexander Anderson. Feeling proud of the inferior race, Alucard liked to battle the man, however, after the priest turned into a monster to acquire more power, the protagonist disgusted the boy, thus, killing him without hesitation. Summing it all up, it's almost impossible not to love this protagonist.
