Growing up in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Nicholas "Nick" Harrison knew that he wanted to be either a professional hockey player or a soldier. In his 50 years of life so far, he has had the chance to do both. Nick was always a sharp, intelligent person with a presence that people didn’t mind following. Nick wasn’t always fond of this responsibility, but he shouldered it all the same. On the ice, Nick primarily acted as an “enforcer” (a player whose job was to ensure that no opposing players who decided to take a big dirty hit on a teammate got away with it). When he turned 18, Harrison enlisted in the Canadian Army and served with the 1st Battalion of the Royal Canadian Regiment. He would serve in the First Gulf War and Bosnia before volunteering for a new special operations unit being formed in 1993. This unit was an elite special operations unit known as Joint Task Force 2. Throughout the 1990s and The Global War on Terror, Harrison would keep busy on hostage rescues, kill/capture missions and long range reconnaissance missions to Iraq, Afghanistan and wherever else he and his team would be called. In 2010, Harrison (who was a Captain at the time) was on patrol near the Afghanistan/Pakistan border when the vehicle he was riding in was hit by a roadside bomb. The blast inflicted severe damage to his legs. Believing that he would never walk again, The Canadian Army promoted Harrison to Major, awarded him The Victoria Cross (Canada’s highest military commendation) and honorably discharged. After nearly two years of grueling rehabilitation and training, Harrison was back in fighting shape and soon after hired by multi-national PMC Grey Sword.

Originally born in South London, England, Gordon Wolfe spent his holidays rifle hunting with his grandfather (a former Royal Marine Commando). It was this experience that influenced Gordon to join the Army when he turned 18. After graduating Basic Training, he volunteered for the elite Parachute Regiment. In between deployments as part of a peacekeeping force, Wolfe underwent training as a sniper and got married. After a decade in the Army, Wolfe volunteered for selection into the elite Special Air Service (S.A.S.). As a special operations sniper, Wolfe was often tasked with long range reconnaissance, eliminating high value targets and providing sniper cover for friendly units. After 12 years in the S.A.S., Wolfe was put in charge of a six-man HK (Hunter Killer) team. In 2013, while on a deployment to Eastern Afghanistan near the Pakistani border, Wolfe’s team was assigned to provide security for a group of Civilian Engineers building a Girls School. A few days into their assignment, a group of local militants approached the site and threatened to kill both the workers and Wolfe’s team if they didn’t stop what they were doing. Wolfe in turn assured the commander that if him or any of his men came back to the school with violent intent, they would be killed. Looking into Gordon’s piercing blue eyes, the commander knew that it wasn’t a threat, but a promise. A few days later, the site of the school was attacked with mortars and gunmen hiding in the surrounding hills. For three consecutive days (and with the assistance of resupply helicopters) Wolfe’s team fought and held off the militants. As the team was being extracted, Wolfe sustained head trauma by shrapnel. Returning to England, Wolfe was awarded various commendations and been medically discharged from the army. He now works as a sniper for Grey Sword PMC.

Born into a deep military lineage, Michael Donovan was seemingly born and raised to be a warfighter. After spending all four years of high school is Marine Corps JROTC, he knew that he was headed to the Corps. After graduating high school in May of 2001, Michael headed off to Marine Boot Camp. Less than a month after graduating Boot Camp, The September 11th Attacks happened in New York City. As part of the 26th MEU based out of MCB Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Michael deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq in the early days of The War on Terror. As time went on, Michael progressed to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant, at which time he volunteered to enter Force Reconnaissance selection. After undergoing the brutal two years of required training, Michael would go on to serve six more years in Force Recon and reach the rank of First Sergeant before being invited to the Marine Corps’ most elite unit: The Marine Raiders. As a raider, he would act as a Team’s most senior enlisted Marine. However, after narrowly surviving an IED attack that killed his closest friend, Michael was so consumed with guilt that he chose not to re-enlist. But having been a warfighter his entire life, he couldn’t just put down his guns and live a normal life. It was because of this that he went to work as a contractor for PMC Grey Sword.

(So, Grey Sword's U.S. headquarters is located in Southern California. You have to go through a security gate before you can enter the premises. Would you be ok starting there?)

Gordon takes the bag and gives a smile - or at least for Gordon what passes as a smile given the burns on the left side of his face.

"Rixon? I knew a fellow named Rixon before, maybe you two were related or something. Anyhow, I figure you'd want meet the rest of the team, yeah?"

************************************************
Cole Raymond Barnes was born in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia in 1990. The son of Daniel and Celeste Barnes (the CEO of a major land developer and a nationally known university professor, respectively), Cole spent much of his life living off of his family’s money while not seeming to aspire for much in his own life. When Cole turned 18, his parents presented him with a non-negotiable ultimatum: either Cole do something with his life (get a job or go to college) or he would be cut out of his parents’ wills. Motivated more by spite than patriotism, Cole joined the Army. After completing Recruit Training, Cole went to Individual Speciality Training to become a Field Medic. It was through the bonds that he made with other soldiers during Recruit Training and the Advanced Combat Life Saving (CLS-A) course that Cole’s personality changed and he learned the importance of camaraderie and teamwork. As well as taking up a more likeable personality, Cole found joy in being regarded for his own accomplishments as opposed to being just a rich couple’s son. Cole distinguished himself as a Combat Medic through two tours in Afghanistan, the second of which saw his platoon cross paths with soldiers of the elite Special Air Service Regiment (SASR). Determined to be amongst the very best soldiers he could be, he volunteered for the year long selection process for the SASR. Serving in the army was no longer about proving something to his parents, Cole found in it purpose he had never had before. Just before Cole was set to re-enlist, he received word that his parents had been killed in a plane crash. This devastated Cole and shook him to his core. After officially separating from the Army, the first thing Cole did with his inheritance was lay his family to rest. He then left Australia, relocated to America and now works for Grey Sword PMC.

The two men proceed in the Barracks. With Gordon taking the lead and Matt close behind. the walls are bare white cinderblocks and the floor is carpeted with dark green carpeting. The two men walk to an elevator and Gordon presses a button before turning to Matt.

"So, do you prefer "Matthew", "Matt" or do you have some bloody ridiculous callsign that you want us to address you by?"

The two men get out of the elevator with their bags in tow. Gordon escorts Matt to a room that looks ready to be moved into. He places the bag he's holding on the bed and turns to look at Matt.

"Yeah. Gordon is just fine, lad. Some of the rest of the team has some pretty odd handles, so I figured I'd ask. It's not a bad team. We've got a Canadian, an Aussie, a French lass, a Russian and a couple of Yanks. The lot of them are positively mental, but they're damn fine to have on your side in a firefight."
