(Hey y’all. Sorry I haven’t posted in a while. I got involved in other RPs when life wasn’t...y’know...life.)

As the convoy made its way towards The Ambassador Hotel downtown, a pair of Dallas P.D. motorcyles joined and led the motorcade to the hotel.

All the Contractors and Secret Service agents were on alert. Ayad was able to get into the country and disappear. It stands to reason that he would be gunning for something that would garner national attention. A war hero running for a Senate seat in The Lone Star State would certainly garner that attention.

“All-Seer, This is Gunslinger One. Be advised, we are en route to drop point ETA five minutes, how copy, over?” Nick said as he held the push-to-talk radio on his plate carrier.

“Gunslinger One, this is Echo Delta, copy your last. We’ve got eyes on you with a friendly UAV tracking you now, over.” Agent Dietrich said over the radio.

The sound of the CIA operative over the radio instead of Director McKay put a look of displeasure and confusion on his face. A look that Special Agent Connor noticed from the back passenger seat of the SUV.

“What is it?” He asked.

“Dietrich’s in the f**kin’ Ops Center talkin’ to us on the radio.” Nick replied, the displeasure still clear on his face.

“It sounds like she’s making herself awfully comfortable at the company.” Ace chimed in.

“All units, this is Vehicle One. Be advised, we are two minutes out from drop point.” Said an Agent in the lead vehicle, receiving responses in the affirmative from all the other vehicles.

The sounds of the police motorcycles at the front of the motorcade revving their engines got louder as the sped up and placed a large gap between them and the lead vehicle.

Just then, Michael had a chilling feeling come over him. It was something that the rest of the team jokingly called his “Point Man Senses”. There was no logical explanation, but it was an unmistakable ability that Michael had to sense trouble in front of him and the others. That sense had gotten them out of quite a few nasty situations. Michael didn’t understand where the feeling had come from as Special Agent Dawson explained to them that the entire was cleared by both Dallas Police and Secret Service. But he never questioned it before and he wouldn’t do it now. Michael turned back towards the inside of his vehicle to tell Nick, but by then it was too late.

There was a massive explosion that came from under the street and the first vehicle was torn in half. Nick swerved hard to avoid the gaping hole in the street, but ended up putting the vehicle upside down.

This made the other vehicles stop and then immediately begin to back up before a rocket came out of seemingly nowhere and hit the rear vehicle, destroying it as well and boxing the Senator’s vehicle in.

“All callsigns, this is Guardian Actual. Be advised, Longhorn is under attack. I have three vehicles down hard. Requesting reinforcements at my location time now, over!” Special Agent Dawson screamed into the Push-to-talk radio in the wrist of his suit shirt.

As the two teams of operators made their way into the hangar, Special Agent Dawson - with Nick, Steve and Connor close behind - radioed his men in the hangar to let them know they were coming.

Inside the hangar were a number of men and women in suits. Secret Service agents really are unmistakable in their image.

"So, where are we headed?" Nick asked.

"We're headed to The Ambassador Hotel downtown. I've got Agents and Dallas police setting up a five block security perimeter around it and a National Guard platoon stationed at Fort Hood to reinforce if need be." Dawson as they approached the three SUVs.

That was when the backdoor of the second vehicle opened up and out stepped Senator Elect James Thomas Howell who walked over to the four men.

"Sir, our reinforcements have arrived." Dawson said.

"Thanks, Ben." Howell said to the leader of his protection detail before turning his attention to the other three men.

"Senator Howell, I'm Nicholas Harrison, Grey Sword PMC team leader." Nick said as he extended his hand for a shake, which Howell accepted.

With a side nod of his head, Nick acknowledged the men standing beside and behind him, respectively.

"And this is Special Agent Connor with Homeland Security and I believe you already know Steve Westbrook."

"I most certainly do. It's been a long time, Sergeant." Howell said.

"Y-yes sir. It has been." Steve said, not sure how to react as this was the first time that he'd seen his former commander since he was discharged.

Nick decided that it would be best if the two men had a less crowded moment to talk, so he asked Agent Dawson to go over the plan in more detail prompting the two men, along with Special Agent Connor, to head over to one of the SUVs and consult the map of their route as well as discuss comms frequencies so that everyone could talk to each other.

After a few minutes, Nick relayed the plan to his team and Viper Team before the SUVs that were out front came in for the PMCs to mount up in the motorcade.

(The convoy is as follows: (1) Secret Service #1, (2) Grey Sword #1 (Nick, Ace, Michael and Connor - with Michael as rear security), (3) Senator Howell’s vehicle (with Special Agent Dawson and Steve - Steve as rear security), (4) Grey Sword #2 (Gordon, Matt, Cole and Lexi - Cole as rear security), (5) Grey Sword #3 (Viper Team), and (6) Secret Service #2)

As the team dismounted the plane, Gunslinger team along with Special Agent Connor, walked to a nearby hangar with black SUVs and men in suits surrounding them. One of the men, an older balding man walked up to the team and spoke.

"I'm Special Agent Dawson. I'm in charge of the security detail. Which one of you is in charge?" The man asked.

"That would be me. Nick Harrison, team leader." Nick said as he extended his hand for Agent Dawson to shake. As the two men broke the handshake, Dawson spoke again.

"The Senator wanted to speak with you and..." Dawson said until he saw Steve, who he pointed at. "And him."

Steve seemed to fidget slightly at hearing that his former Colonel wanted to see him.

Before they headed off, Nick asked Dawson a question.

"Do you want my team to mount up in these vehicles in the meantime?"

"Uh, no. These vehicles are for the photographers at the airport's perimeter fence. The real convoy is in the hangar " Dawson said before the three men made their way to the hangar.

As Matt got up from his seat between Michael and Lexi to go and talk to the Asian man who - along with five other men whose gear had patches identifying them as Grey Sword personnel - sat away from the rest of the group that had just boarded in seats closest to the front of the plane, Lexi tapped Michael on the shoulder, leaned over and asked him a question.

"So, what do you think of out new radioman, eh?" she asked as she saw Matt and the other man talking. She couldn't tell what they were saying, but something she chalked up to women's intuition told her that the vibes over there were...off.

"Like I said, a few more drills and some serious action, I think the kid'll fit right in."

"How did Harrison take to him?" She followed up.

"It was tense. Y'know, after everything in Bolivia, any new guy would've had it hard. But, like I said, Rixon's got plenty of go in him. So I think he'll do fine." He said as he leaned back in his seat and closed his eyes.

Sitting near the front of the plane, but not quite parallel to the strangers that were already on board was the team's tech specialist, Pavel "Ace" Morzodrenko. He pulled a satellite phone out of his right cargo pants pocket and dialed a number that he had dialed so much that he knew it by heart.

After a few rings, Ace knew the person on the other end wasn't going to answer, but he wouldn't pass up the chance to hear the man's voice, even if it was just the voicemail message. As soon as the ringing stopped, an effeminate man's voice came over the voicemail.

"Ugh. Oh my God, babe, stop. *laughter* Hi, you've reached the Morzodrenko residence. Sorry we could come to the phone right now. Blanco, just say the other half at least." It was at that point that Ace's own, deeper voice came over the message.

"Please leave your name, number and reason for calling at the beep and we'll get back to you at our earliest convenience." before a beep noise.

"Hey, baby. I just wanted to call and let you know that I'm on my way out of town. You know I would've called sooner, but it was really spur of the moment. I PROMISE that I'll make it up to you when I get back. I promise that I'll call you as soon as I can. You're the best husband a man could ask for. I love you." He said before making a kiss sound into the phone and hanging up. Now, Pavel the loving husband and father could be at peace for a while Ace the veteran Spetsnaz trooper prepared for whatever came next.

Meanwhile, Cole, Steve, Nick, Gordon and Special Agent Connor all sat close to one another. and were speaking amongst themselves.

"So, how long's it been since you saw Colonel Howell?" Cole asked as he looked at Steve - who's leg was shaking.

"A little over ten years." The Texan responded as he looked down at his LMG, which had the name "Kathy" crudely cut into the buttstock. It was the name of Steve's mother and a running joke related to Steve's affinity for long bursts of fire.

"This guy mean somethin' to ya?" Nick asked pointing at Steve's bouncing leg.

Upon looking down at his leg, Steve placed his right hand on it and pressed down hard on it for a moment until it stopped.

"Yeah. The Colonel was the one who fought to get the Green Berets' testimony admitted at my court martial. Where as my platoon leader wanted to basically see me hanged for knockin' him out when he tried to abandon those boys, the Green Berets offered to testify on my behalf. It's a big reason that I even got this job." Steve admitted.

"Sounds like a he's was pretty bloody decent. Well, as far as officers go that is." Gordon said before looking Nick's way and seeing the offense in the other man's face at the "Officers" remark. "Sorry, boss."

As he listened to the men's conversations, Connor could help but crack a small smile at the tight bond they all seemed to share. Cole noticed this and decided to bring the man into the conversation.

"So, Agent Connor? What did you do to end up on this plane?" The medic asked.

"First of all, it's SPECIAL Agent Connor. And to answer your question, I don't owe you a f**kin' thing. The way I see it, you mercs are just nothin' but a bunch of hired guns who'll work for any a**hole with a big checkbook." Connor said gruffly.

"Now you look here, you s**t-heel. You ain't gonna talk to my teammates like that. I don't want you here anymore than you want to be here. But since YOU are rollin' with US, we figure you can tell us why we should trust you with our lives." Steve replied.

"If you must know, I joined the Marines straight outta high school. Served a few years before I got to Force Recon. Saw action in Baghdad, Fallujah, Ramadi, Helmand, Kandahar, Korengal and just about every other hell hole in The Sandbox. When I got out, I joined the Galveston P.D. and served in S.W.A.T. before gettin' moved up to D.H.S." Connor spit out.

Putting his hands up in an attempt to resolve the tension, Nick spoke.

"I need you two to be easy. Tex, I don't like it either, but Connor's with us on this op. There are laws about every PMC deployment inside the U.S. and its territories-" Nick said before Steve, sat back in his seat, rolled his eyes and completed his thought.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know. "No private military operations are to take place in the Continental United States without direct knowledge or involvement of U.S. Federal Law Enforcement and or Intelligence agencies." Steve replied, quoting an article direct from the bill, which was enacted into law in 2007.

"That's right. So deal with it." Nick said before turning his attention to Connor.

"And as for you, NONE of us want you here anymore than you want to be here. But while you're here and it's MY team on the ground, YOU do what I say. No discussion, no back and forth. As long as you're here, YOU answer to ME." Nick said, making the man scoff and sit back in his seat.

"Ladies and gentlemen, this is you pilot speaking. We are about two minutes away from the airfield, so we would advise that you prepare all your personal belongings for disembarkation and we would like to thank you for flying with Grey Sword Airlines." The pilot said in a calm, stereotypical pilot voice.

"Thank f**k. Let's get out of this thing before we start goin' mental, yeah?" Gordon said as he and the others on board the plane began exiting.
