Strength(s)/Power(s): Though Erika is not exceptionally strong, especially when compared to the other elites in the Military Police Brigade, she is remarkably swift and has practically mastered the Omni-directional mobility gear. Hence, though she is not powerful, Erika can zip through the battlefield and be the first to engage the enemy as well as easily maneuver herself to avoid a titan’s attacks. Then again, she did not join the Military Police Brigade to battle titans in the first place; however, if she was forced to fight a titan, she would more than likely be used as a speedy distraction in order to allow a stronger soldier to eliminate the monstrosity.
Weakness(es): As much as Erika is almost impossible to catch because of her incredible talent with the ODM gear, and even being extremely agile on her feet, she is a very emotional person. She is highly intelligent and resourceful, however, she struggles to contain her emotions which can result in her making irrational decisions if a loved one is in danger. Though her skills are not entirely dulled during her emotional outbursts, she is less aware of her surroundings and her speedy movements become predictable and straightforward. In other words, if one wishes to defeat her, they must merely touch upon a sensitive topic of hers or simply injure somebody she holds dearly close to make her less of a threat.

Whenever Erika is not occupied with her duties serving under the Military Police Brigade, she is typically discovered aimlessly wandering and finding a comfortable spot to read a book. If she is not wishing to read, she still strolls around the city in order to take in the sights or essentially clinging onto a friend, chatting with them for however long the both of them can manage to do so. And, if she is not doing any of these activities, then she is usually in her room and scribbling schemes in her small, leather journal as she resumes her lethal journey to eliminate those who have wronged House Vogel.

Erika Vogel was born in the year 832 within the safety of the walls. House Vogel was a noble house that does not recall much of its history before the walls, however, it only remembers that they had been loyal to the king and even now remain devoted to the monarchy. In fact, when their children were of age, House Vogel would send their sons to join the military and devote themselves to the king in which they served. If their sons were unable to make it in the Military Police Brigade, they would typically join the Garrison Regiment and protect the walls against the vile titans. Erika’s childhood consisted of her being raised in an estate where she had the complete liberty to roam the grounds and was taught by a diligent tutor. Erika would frequently adore wandering the estate and discovering new spots where she could read her stories, her eyes gazing up at the beautiful sky and getting lost in her head at times. Her family had nicknamed her Sparrow because she almost seemed to never stay in one place as if she was a bird soaring around the estate. Furthermore, the nickname rather suited a member of House Vogel in which the literal meaning of Vogel is ‘bird’. Overall, Erika lived the life of a normal girl who was born in a wealthy noble house.

However, in the year 845, when Erika was only thirteen years old, an overwhelming catastrophe occurred in which Wall Maria was breached by the titans that plagued their lands outside the massive walls. After the fall of Shiganshina and moments after the Armored Titan forced through Wall Maria, a Garrison Regiment soldier alerted House Vogel that they should evacuate immediately before the titans arrive and devour them all. If House Vogel were lost, a noble house that openly supported the monarchy and its battle against the titans, it would be a crushing blow to the military. However, as House Vogel was preparing to leave, House Engel had received news of Wall Maria falling as well. House Engel was located within the safety of Wall Rose, but House Engel believed that the remaining humans within the walls should never confront the titans and stay safe inside them. Furthermore, House Engel knew of the vast wealth that House Vogel had acquired through their years of faithfully serving the King, and hence they saw the perfect opportunity to eliminate a threat to their personal belief but also acquire some new wealth.

As House Vogel was gathering their necessities to flee to safety, House Engel stormed the estate with its men and began slaughtering anybody who was unfamiliar to them. Since the members of House Vogel had already gathered some of their wealth, yearning to take it with them to Wall Rose so they would have some funds, it was easy for the attackers to steal the treasure and flee after butchering everybody they could find. Unfortunately, Erika survived the whole ordeal by hiding in a spot that only she knew of, having found it one day when she was exploring the estate and witnessed the brutal carnage of her family and fellow servants be cut down or shot. Her family’s agonizing shrieks and painful cries torment her in her sleep even to this day. After House Engel fled, noticing titans in the distance, Erika sprinted out of her hiding spot and ran as fast as she could. Luckily for her, House Vogel’s estate was close to the entrance of Wall Rose and she was able to safely arrive but not without being seen by some of House Engel’s soldiers. They had attempted to nab her but she had zoomed by them, and though she did not recall much of what they screamed at her, she does vividly remember hearing the name ‘Dieter Engel,’ who was the leader of the massacre of House Vogel and son to House Engel’s head of the family, Otto Engel. In order to escape from her attackers, she had fled through a building that they had set on fire and accidentally tripped and scorched her face from the searing flames. It left a scar on her neck that would never fade away. After surviving the bloodbath, Erika had attempted to explain to the Garrison Regiment how House Engel had butchered her family, but they believed that titans must have killed them and Erika was simply hysterical and hallucinating about what honestly occurred. She had tried to find her fellow brothers who all were serving the Garrison Regiment, but they had been soldiers serving their duty at Shiganshina District and hence they all had been eaten alive by the titans. Erika did not wish for revenge on the titans, but rather she had begun to develop a scheme to obtain her vengeance on House Engel and terrifyingly desire to murder them all as they did with her family.

Erika was sent to a shelter for refugees from Wall Maria and worked on a farm as did many of the younger refugees. She enrolled in the military when she was of age and did everything she could to be among the top ten of her class. She had learned through her time on a farm and asking around whenever she could about House Engel that apparently Dieter Engel had joined the Military Police Brigade and was actually an officer now. Though she was not powerful, she was extremely agile and highly intelligent and thus made it into the elite of the class in which she immediately applied for the Military Police Brigade and began to serve her duty at Stohess District. Though she does her best to make friends and fulfills her assignments, Erika yearns for nothing more than to locate Dieter and make House Engel pay for their grave sins.
