Strength(s)/Power(s): Due to her combat experience, Beatrix is a talented fight particularly with a sword. In fact, though she has no overwhelming strength, she is rather swift and uses her quickness to narrowly dodge attacks for her foe, then counterattacking in order to either wound or eliminate them. Furthermore, she does know of some strategy considering she used to lead a squad into battle.
Weakness(es): Though Beatrix is skilled, she is easily angered and hence can become reckless in a fight, which obviously leads to mistakes that can cost her life. Most of her injuries were acquired by losing her cool in a battle, but she claims to never regret her actions. Additionally, she is not specifically talented with hand-to-hand combat and hence is almost powerless without a weapon.

Whenever Beatrix has some free time of her own, she used to typically train more with her sword in order to improve any weaknesses she might have during battle. Furthermore, whenever she was with her squad, she would accompany them as they sat around a campfire and drank alcohol, telling stories of whatever kind and having a delightful time. Though, as for her current hobbies, Beatrix mostly stays inside and reads books, attempting to stay away from others and not seeking any trouble whatsoever.

Beatrix Vale was found on the side of the road only a few days after she was born by a mercenary band. The man who stopped to pick her up was none other than Darius Vale, the leader of the mercenary band that labeled themselves as the Red Wolves, in which their flag was simply the red head of a wolf on a black background. Darius was a renowned swordsman and he was even a brilliant tactician who led his fellow troops into battle against any enemy as long as the pay was sufficient enough. It was mostly due to Darius’s leadership and his tough men that the Red Wolves were a mercenary band that was acknowledged as fearsome opponents. So, whenever Darius hopped off his horse to investigate the crying baby on the side of the road that perplexed every mercenary under his command, particularly because Darius had never seemed interested by children before despite the fact they had seen plenty of homeless kids in cities that pleaded for a coin. Regardless, Darius picked up the frail child who kept weeping in his hands and stunned his men whenever he announced that he was going to take the child as his own. To his troops, they would never understand why Darius did so since he has never felt terrible about anything whatsoever, yet the secret was is that Darius realized he was growing older by the day. He had no intention of settling down with some woman in the future because all he desired was to experience the thrill of combat, yet he did not want to grow old and die without having any children in his life. After all, he secretly did want a kid and he felt as if fate was smiling down upon him by giving him this abandoned child. Thus, Beatrix Vale was taken in by the Red Wolves, and she would quickly learn that to be a part of the mercenary band, one must take part in the inevitable battles.

As Beatrix grew older, Darius began teaching everything that a child needs to know in these dark times. He taught her basic stuff such as how to read and write, but then he also started to teach her how to properly wield a sword. To be frank, though it seemed as if Beatrix was being forced to learn how to use a sword, she enjoyed it and shared a close bond with Darius. To her, Darius truly was her father even though it was obvious they were not related by blood. Darius was kind to her yet still was harsh if she made a mistake in her training, attempting to correct it so she does not repeat it in order to ensure she does not fall during her first battle. As for the other mercenaries involved with the Red Wolves, they were concerned at first about having a child among them, but they quickly got attached to the child and were nice to her as well. They would tease her when she made mistakes as she trained and one time she even chased an individual around with a sword after he had angered her too many times. To the Red Wolves, including Darius, Beatrix was a part of their family and nothing could ever change that whatsoever. As time passed, Beatrix was finally able to participate in battles whenever she was twelve years old and proved her skills as a warrior. Of course, she did receive some injuries but she survived and that is all that truly matters to a mercenary; live to see another day and get your payment.

Whenever Beatrix was eighteen years old, Darius believed she clearly had enough experience to receive her own squad which was titled as Beatrix’s Raiders. Though she claimed to Darius that she was not ready, Darius insist and she decided it was best not to argue. Still, Beatrix swiftly fell in love with her squad who nicknamed her “Big Sis Beatrix” and even “Blur,” since she was so quick during a fight that it was almost as if she was a blur herself. Once more, years flew by and the Red Wolves were an almost unstoppable mercenary band, and now even everyone heard of the Beatrix and her squad. Though Beatrix is responsible for killing hundreds of enemy soldiers, she was still a person who enjoyed joking with the other troops and spent countless nights drinking with her squad. Life was not easy and it was a struggle to survive every battle, but her skills as a warrior were incredible and life was perfect in her opinion. Unfortunately, that sort of life would not last for much longer.

Whenever Beatrix was twenty-one, the Red Wolves were hired to aid with defending a stronghold on the border of another nation. Though there was no war occurring between the two nations, there was a tension between them due to prior events that Beatrix could care less about to know. The Red Wolves were tasked to help the fellow soldiers there in case the neighboring nation launched some sort of assault, but they were not aware that they were merely going to be used as a reason to start the war between the two nations. Beatrix was drinking with her squad whenever the first bloodcurdling scream was heard. The soldiers within the stronghold began to attack the Red Wolves, slaughtering any mercenary they came across. Though Beatrix was confused by the surprise attack from the nation that purchased their help, she fought against all she could but the battle was futile. The soldiers had butchered too many Red Wolves with their initial strike, and hence Darius roared that they should retreat. The remaining Red Wolves, including Darius and Beatrix, fled outside the stronghold only to be greeted by a wave of falling arrows. An entire battalion had arrived at the stronghold in an effort to ensure there would be no survivors. The arrows pierced through half of remaining Red Wolves, and the ones that somehow dodged the onslaught of arrows were caught in between the arriving battalion the soldiers within the stronghold. Unfortunately, Darius had not been lucky and was shot with an arrow through his throat. Beatrix, who was only a few feet away, saw him fall and rushed over without a second thought. In his final moments, Darius told Beatrix to run away as fast as she could, and whenever the life left his eyes, she obeyed his command and fled from the bloodshed. Her escape would be impossible if she was not shot in the back with an arrow and accidentally fell into the river.

After her escape, Beatrix learned a few days later that the nation that hired them claimed that the Red Wolves apparently were the ones hired by the neighboring nation and attacked the stronghold, failing and dying like dogs against their superior might. In other words, the Red Wolves were used as an excuse for the nation to declare war without seeming as if they were the ones that yearned for it. Beatrix lost her entire life because some king did not want to look bad. That’s all. This harsh truth crushed her and though she wished for revenge, what could she do singlehandedly against an entire nation and its massive army? With the money she had, Beatrix purchased a cottage in a small village and spent the remainder of her years thus far attempting to overcome her grief. She spent most of her days hiding inside her new home, reading books, and rarely socializing with the other villagers who strayed from her as well, unaware of who she was yet somehow seeming familiar to them. Still, even now, Beatrix dreams of one day in which she can abandon this village and somehow acquire the vengeance she craves for more than anything else.
