TYPES OF ROLEPLAY - AND YOU

Okay, so instead of giving specific, flavor-of-the-week scenarios... I'm going to make an ongoing list of types of roleplays I'm interested in - and the fundamentals for making them work.

Romance:

Alright, given that romance is the most popularly requested genre, it gets priority. So, due to my playstyle, the characters I main interact best with female characters with a sweeter disposition. This is important. That's not to say pushovers or weaklings, but I like to play the reluctant/disciplined hero, so having the love interest possess something of a moral compass or caring nature, makes a difference. This is especially vital for stories where we're either just meeting, or it's a slow-burn romance. It adds contrast, and frankly, it's the dynamic that I've found works best. Having a kind, smart girl who can tell my character when he's being stupid (lovingly) is a recipe for success.

Buddy-Cop Questing:

Okay, so now if you're saying 'Wait, I play a girl character, but I want her to be a badass with a bad attitude', this one's for you! Stories where we play mercenaries, traveling companions, survivors, knights - whatever - where we go around kicking ass and getting paid/saving the world... Love it. All we need is an established relationship. Maybe we were childhood friends, maybe one of us saved the other's life and now we're unlikely ally's - whatever it is, what matters is that to an extent we care about each other, so we don't have to continually justify why we're together with flimsy-ass cardboard reasoning. You can be as dark and brooding as you want - hell, I know I may be - but give our characters a reason to be together. None of this 'two stark warriors just bumped into each other and decided to quest.' Like.... what. No. No no no. Once in french. NON. Why would these characters, with their battle-hardy/violent nature, ever trust each other or tolerate one another? Makes no sense! GAHHkdjfbsdkjbf

WORLD SPANNING NARRATIVE:

Okay, this type is certainly the least requested, but can sometimes yield the best results. I won't go to into detail on this one, as it rarely comes up - but if we want to dive into a big, complex story that spans nations and involves a million NPC's and political intrigue - and at the start our characters don't even know each other, or are starting on different continents... It can work. It has worked. BUT. And holy is this a big butt... You have to be willing to plan the hell out of it, down to the last detail. This rp may not start for days, cause we're just planning and establishing relationships/roles. It can be fun... but a lot of times when people just want to jump into these things, the context and the stakes aren't there, and it's just a huge mess of random drama that rarely lands.

Okay, so lastly, it's important to note that any one genre can shift somewhat into another, right? Like for all we know, we'll start a buddy-cop story and it'll evolve into a romance. Or maybe we were just teen lovers on the run, and slowly the world builds around us with every city we visit. There's certainly no restrictions on where the rp can go - these are only the fundamentals for starting.

So hit me up if you think we can get something going, cheers!
