Okay! As much as I'm usually against these sorts of self-righteous posts, here is a passive aggressive rant/filtering qualifier to make YOU - the reader - aware of whether or not I'm interested in Rp'ing with you. Please note, if while you're reading this you say to yourself 'hey, that sounds like my play style,' this doesn't make you a bad RP’er...It just means you're basic afffff and I have no interest in Rp'ing with you.
Furthermore, this post is aimed at girls.
Guys, I have a whole other set of issues to take up with you, but I'll save that for it's own post. So, without further ado:
1. Girls with the most tragic backstory in the world.
- Let it be known, I'm not against backstories, or even sad ones (and admittedly this first gripe is also somewhat setting sensitive), but if you're a modern day girl whose backstory is that both of your parents died tragically, and you've since undergone a barrage of sexual abuse and self harm --- I want nothing to do with your character. To me, the connotations related to that sort of trauma, would be so unbelievably intense and heavy handed, that the RP simply wouldn't be fun. NOW, what's most bewildering, are the characters who DO have this sort of backstory, and are completely emotionally fine... it's just immersion-breaking, and weird. No thank you. Your character needs to be able to engage mine without constantly stuttering, blushing, looking down, or ignoring attention... I try to write my characters as life-like as possible, and as I tend to lean towards hero archetypes, my characters see this behavior as your character wanting to be left alone, and since I'm usually not Rp'ing a complete a**hole... He'll leave her alone... I'm sure you see the issue here. I don't want to have to completely hound every bit of information out of you, or feel like I'm overstepping your personal boundaries every time we talk... It's just slow, and boring, and it seems to be all I'm doing recently and I'm done with it.
2. Shy girls.
-Again, shyness may come as a result of backstory, but it seems like every girl I RP with, or at least 85% of you, are *takes breath* extremely shy attention hating lonely corner seeking hyper nervous men-make-you-uncomfortable can't contribute to plot mood swinging random-outbursts-regarding-past-trauma outcasts that nobody likes... YET all of you are described as beautiful and curvy... >.> It just doesn't fit! I get so many variations of -"She had a perfect body and gorgeous eyes, and everyone told her she was beautiful but she didn't believe them. She was just her... a lonely outcast."- WTFFF Stop doing this! It's bad writing. I hate to break it to you, but characters who are hot - should know they're hot, due to a lifetime of people reacting to them as such. Now, if you're character got hot during puberty - or something plot related changed their looks - by all means, they're hot and they don't know it, but for the most part, confidence comes with being attractive... not shyness (not always, admittedly, but most of the time). This doesn't mean they have to be a narcissistic character, or even one primarily focused on looks, but if they're attractive, it's more immersive for me if they have the personality of someone whose attractive. Confident. Outgoing. Comfortable making conversation.
SOO if you have a shy character, just warn me before hand about the extent of their shyness. I'm not ruling out all shy girls, but there is a proper way to write a shy character, and I'd appreciate a little insight as to your style before I Rp with you.
3. Girls with Powers/Races.
-Okay, this one is a little more selective, so if you're reading this and it sounds like you, please move along, and do not RP with me. Again, I mean no offence, I just don't think we're compatible.
So, girls who describe their powers with blanket terms like 'controls fire and ice', or 'healing', we're not meant for one another. You're character is broken and you don't know it. A character who 'controls ice', doesn't just throw ice spears or make ice walls - they can freeze the blood in someone's veins. They can form a thousand icy shards in someones throat - is there any kind of limit? Range? Does the ability just 'exhaust you'? No thanks. The only limit to an ability like that is your own limited creativity, or the lack of understanding as to the power you possess, and since you're unwittingly playing a God, I want no part of it.
This segways nicely into races. If you're an 'angel/demon', 'half-god', or any type of elemental race, I want nothing to do with you. I'll even give you the benefit of the doubt that you're an amazing Rp'er - this one is just simple preference. I like to keep even my fantasy/supernatural stories somewhat grounded in rules and logic, and races like this simply bring levels of power that make that impossible. If you disagree with this statement or don't understand it, you're someone I don't need to Rp with.
Okay, for the most part, that's it. Although, honorable mentions include out of context sexual advances, making me choose from your character list, playing sweet/innocent girls who dress/behave like hoes, 'regular highschool girls who are part arctic fox or wolf', abuse of the English language, and just overall lack of character understanding. Oh, and I prefer a Western feel vs. Eastern.
I'm gonna be honest, I'm a pretty strong writer. Chances are, I'm better than you, and I've come to accept that (regrettably - trust me, Rp'ing was more fun while I was learning). If you disagree, than please prove me wrong. I welcome it ^^ I'm not trying to sound like a jerk, or an elitist, but I think unfortunately I've become one, and I'd hate to see our story become just another convo I abandon. I hate sending a strong start, and getting a reply from someone who is simply incapable of carrying the quality of narrative I need, forcing me to reply in kind, until the RP fizzles out and I stop responding - which I will.
So, if you've made it through the rigorous babblings of this RP prude, and are still up for it, than please - message away :) AND if you're someone who typically plays confident, yet still feminine and competent girls, MESSAGE ME PLEASE BECAUSE WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN MY WHOLE LIFE!?
