Born to a powerful and influential family of mages, it was expected that their children were strong, the Mahoney family had been selectively breeding power mages for centuries. Born a twin, his sister had stolen his share of power in the womb and left him with very little.
Seen as a disgrace growing up, he was finally disowned and removed from the family at the age of 14 and dumped into an orphanage. Desperate for revenge, he threw himself into his studies of magic before finding an ancient form, one from before mages internalized their power, one that drew from the world around them.
Now, at 28, he runs a small coffee shop in New York for his day job. In his off hours, he crafts runes and wards for anyone who can afford them, all in the hopes of striking back at his family who disowned him.
